Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Riggo
I think they're a lot more similar personality wise than either wants to admit. But, in a way, I thought part of this was more a shot at CP's current teammates than Riggo. |
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Hey Lotus,
How did the party go?? Any inside scoop?
For past birthdays, Clinton Portis has bought himself a Maybach, bought himself a Ferrari, and thrown a $200,000 weekend's worth of parties that included a rooftop Kennedy Center gathering, a dinner at Zola featuring truffled spaetzle and parlor games, and a private gathering at Lotus
|
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Portis said the same thing last year.
Portis = Riggo = Prima Donna. CP does have a point though. |
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
As long as Portis keeps playing at a high level he can squabble with Riggo and play dress up just as long as his antics remain pretty harmless.

Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Portis really is an idiot. I don't think he even realizes that he's insulting his teammates with this non-sense. Though he'll probably give some Jermaine Dupri type explanation about it tomorrow.
For those who don't know this is how Jermaine Dupri explained himself in regards to the Pacman video "I’m from a city where in Atlanta, we do this every day,” Dupri said. “You’ll hear this in Jeezy records. When Jeezy say he spends $10,000 on one song? That s**t is for real man. It aint no play.” “A lot of yall comment on how stupid it is. It might be stupid to you, but this is what we do,” Dupri continued. “We eat, we kick it, we throw money. Don’t make this one situation blow the whole thing out.” In short I'm banking on Portis saying something almost as stupid as this trash of a quote. |
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Portis knows he's insulting his line. He did it last year. It's just how he feels. And if anyone thinks this line is the Hogs, they are out of their mind, so to that point, he is right. He still will run for 1500+ yds behind them, and we all will deal with his diva type comments.
|
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Move along, nothing to see here....
If Portis will just keep his ramblings to off-field stuff and not throw his coaches and teammates under the bus he can say whatever he wants. If he continues to produce solid numbers and comes up with a SB or two here, he'll be on the same level with Riggo in DC and have a strong case for the HoF. |

Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Ever since Portis arrived in D.C., he's been putting both feet in his mouth; he criticized Gibbs' playcalling in 2004, he criticized the line in 2008, he openly criticized Zorn last year, he criticized his line again this year, and so on. He's a damn fine running back and I would not go so far as to say he's become a problem, but he is getting annoying.
Sometimes, I wonder how things would be different had we drafted Adrian Peterson instead of Landry. |

All I gotta say is Landry better step up this year. I get the feeling sometimes he is just coasting off his ridiculous raw talents. |

Seriously, he does go a bit overboard sometimes. All he's got to do is to complement John Riggins a little then move on. He keeps talking and talking. But listen Riggins is a bit off and comes off as a grumpy old man alot. He doesn't give CP any credit at all. There both crazy. |

Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
I don't see anything wrong with what Portis said. I actually think he handled it pretty well. He never disrespected Riggo at all and even recognized how great Riggo was.

Who doesn't insult our O-line? Campbell and Zorn have both said comments about the O-line being an issue. Every person on this site thinks the O-line is an issue |

Maybe Portis should keep a 44 Jersey in his locker , and if/when he becomes DC's all time leading rusher , put the jersey on post game and give an interview . After the season , he should take Riggo out for some beers , get him drunk and give OL 44 a Mohawk ? |

Every so often these two exchange barbs. Nothing new.

Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Freud would say it's all very Oedipal: the young guard replaces the old guard and conflict erupts.

priceless. |

Record's are meant to be broken. Don't cry shake the guys hand & say well done then whisper in his ear your record won't last for long.

He will run for 1500 yards if he gets 342 carries again, and there are at least 30 RBs in the NFL who would run for that many yards if they got as many carries. |

Given that every team wants at least one 1,500 yard running back: 1) Tell me who those 30 backs are. 2) Tell me why they do not get that many carries. |
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Portis says in article: "I mean, you know, for him to be a legend and to hate as much as he hate, to be upset that I'm on his tracks...You know, it's crazy," he said. "Like, you did your thing. You know, the people around here love you. I'm not trying to replace you. I don't want to be you. Your background check and my background check, totally different, so I really don't feel like he can comment on nothing I do, you know?...
**Very true. Riggo does have some of the very same traits. The outlandish behavior. The attention getting antics. Wearing Camouflage and mohawks. Wantintg to be the center of attraction. Riggo was more of a loose cannon than CP. So it is kinda hypocritical for Riggo to mock someone who is simialr to his self and maybe less egotisitical. I think he really is mad he is being surpassed on the rushing list. |

Yeah... 30 backs in the league average 4.4ypc. |

Well there were 20 RB's that averaged 4.3 yds or better per carry -so I doubt there are 30... plus of the 20, only 10 were featured enough to get over 1000 - so I doubt there are more than 10. |

Not really sure where you're going with this |

There was a time in football, like most sports where one would dare to do that, and if one did, they could count on their career coming to an abrupt halt at the hands of those they chose to criticize. |
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Anyone remember Portis vs BMtich?
Now that was extremely entertaining. Portis wanted to pretty much fight him, Mitch was ready and Coach had to calm them down. As pretty much people said, big egos, divas, etc. |
Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
CP is a diva, high maintenence pain in the ass and so was Riggins. They're more a like then they'll ever know. The difference is JR has the most famous play in Redskins history and CP will never win getting into verbal jabs w/ JR. I just hate it when CP throws shot at his teammates. It's just so unprofessional.

Re: Tanner vs. Randy; Trevor vs. Blache, and now Portis vs...
Sometimes I wonder about CP....some of the stuff I have seen him wear makes him look like half a f**
Not that that matters when it comes to production I must say I would have rather kept Champ then trade him for a running back, (I forget if he was planning on bailing or not, my memory doesnt serve me) a shut down corner of his skill is a rarer commodity. |

You're right but a lot more average at least 3.5 ypc. :D Sorry devils advocate. |

Then again, so did Joe Montana, and saying so doesn't diminish his greatness one iota.

I'm just gonna go ahead and lock this thread because there's no point in having two threads on the same exact topic
