Ok if you don't like the twitter list:
here's a link: Kelly new No. 2 WR - Redskins 360 - Washington Times I would love to see a deep bomb early in the game. Hopefully JC now knows just how fast Kelly's acceleration is! |

Here's another one...

Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
That's good start for the season, so far..
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Good....The guy worked hard to rehab his knee and get back on the field. Look foreward to seeing how successful he can be in the offense.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Also noted that Thomas Kelly and Mitchell all stayed late to continue practicing. I think these guys (Thomas and Kelly) have a little chip on their shoulder. That could be a good thing!
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Its looks like we are actually going to look more and more like a true Holmgren west coast team. Im so exciting but I really wanted Thomas to start.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I drafted him into my fantasy league. Overall and over the next couple of years, I think Marko Mitchell will turn out to be the best of all our receivers. There's something about that kid and that last name has been very productive with the franchise over the years (Bobby, Brian and now Marko?)
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
this is no surprise, he earned it.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Sweet. Now, go make some plays. He needs 70 catches this season...i would like him to get 70+ catches this season.

I agree. He's got the skill set to go out and do it. He's worked hard and stays after practice. Now it's time for Kelly to take it to the field. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I love this move. I think Kelly could be a damn good receiver in this league, if his body lets him. Injuries are my biggest concern about him.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Meh, I was really hoping to see Devin Thomas but whatever.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Devin Thomas will still see plenty of time on the field.
Go Malcolm go! |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I think this is great news! Just what we need. DT and Marko should get plenty of playing time also and ARE goes to the slot. I'm getting more excited all the time......if that's possible. :woot: Marko and Kelly on the field at the same time? Priceless! If they keep doubling Moss...they will pay!
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
This is fantastic news. Kelly must be showing just tons of maturity and promise etc. Do you guys remember how much he was respected in the OK locker room? Looks like the same is happening here.
A little disappointed Devin hasn't established himself but like others said he'll get action here. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Good for Kelly. He's obviously worked hard for this, coming back from microfracture surgery and all.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I say Kelly scores on Sunday 55 yard play action
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Really glad to see Malcolm get the starting job. He's looked great so far. I hope he stays healthy.
Also, I hope this motivates Devin to push Moss/Randle El for their jobs next season. Regardless, I think Zorn is going to utilize all 5 receivers during games this season. I think we'll see a lot of different packages where guys are coming in and out based on down, distance and playcall. |

Thomas and Kelly had almost identical production (7 catches, 69 yards for Kelly to 7 catches, 67 yards for Thomas) and Mitchell just came out of seemingly nowhere to be everywhere but Thomas caught virtually everything thrown his way, showed confidence and explosiveness as a KR and we didn't hear anything "bad" about him. Kelly was a more polished and productive WR coming out of college so he should be ahead of Thomas on the field. They both are going to be much improved and will make our passing game more potent. |

I dont think Mitchell will see the reps that the other 4 will, but they gotta give him some chances to catch the ball. As for Thomas, I know they have talked about ARE in the slot, but I think we will see Moss in the slot as well, with Thomas/Kelly on the outsides. When we go shotgun with 4-wide, I really think things will get interesting. Thats alot of weapons out there, we just gotta give JC time to find someone. Cant wait till Sunday!!!! |

I'm not trying to make an excuse for DT but i think they looked at it that way. JC threw balls at him prior to the draft so you know they wanted him. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I'm very excited about this news he only caught like what 4 catches last year. I believe he will double that in the first game against the NY Se-Men 8 rec. 92 yds 1 td

Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
This is a great thing for our franchise. This is going to be a feared WR corps in a few weeks. Right now no one knows what is about to smack them in the face, by week 8 they will be feared. I'm so pumped about this team. We are going to be damn good. Look out NFC east.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
can't wait to see how he does this weekend...Stay Healthy Malcolm!

The best part is that even our 5th receiver will contribute and be solid and let's not forget our 2 TE's. |

Exactly, i think Cooley is gonna have his best year this year. |

What I see when I watch Kelly and Devin is the kind of elite physical skills and athletic ability Devin has, while Kelly definitely has more developed WR skills right meow. I guess I still think long run Devin has more upside but his development is the critical thing. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Somebody's Madden Rating is about to go up. At the same time somebody's is about to go down.

Another person would benefit is.... Portis. He will get some better looks. With the better looks maybe he could be a big play back again. Big play as in a TD run or runs of more than 20-30 yards. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Well, dammit, he better be good at #2 as well. I actually took a risk in both FF leagues I am in and drafted kelly as a bench player because of the starting role.
|
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
With this move, two mismatches are created. One is Kelly vs a typical #2 corner. In man coverage, Kelly has a huge advantage and in zone, JC can get away with a tight throw.
The other is ARE vs. a 3rd corner or LB. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
Im just glad that we have 5 really good receivers this year. They all bring something different to our offense. When I watch Marko Mitchell he reminds me of Randy Moss. Both are tall lean and have really good hands. Marko isn't as fast but he maybe our poor mans version of Randy Moss. I take a poor version anyday. Congrats Malcom Kelly on working hard and please stay healthy.

Perhaps a stretch... We only had 2 last year with pretty much the same people. Lets see how Kelly does in a starting #2 role first for a few games before terms like good are thrown around. For me, he has to stay on the field as #2 without rotation if he is going to be considered good. We had way too much rotation at the WR position last year, I can't see how any starting WR can catch a groove with the offense doing that. Being that Thomas is healthy and selected before Kelly but is not starting should give some insight on how "good" he is. God bless him but his situation is not looking good right now. |
Re: Kelly starts the season as #2 WR
I dunno, I think I am gonna wait and see as well. A lot of love for three receivers (Kelly, Thomas, and Mitchell) who have caught <20 balls..it's still gonna be Moss and Cooley that will have to carry us from a receiving standpoint. I do agree that the best thing about Kelly being our #2 is that Randle El's can move to his best position in this offense. He will have a chance to catch 65 balls this year in the slot...

I agree. Now that ARE is where we planned on using him to begin with...he'll show why we signed him. |
