The Health Care Reform Address Thread
Figured I'd make a new thread just in case anyone watches the address and has any opinions on it.
Discuss here? :) |
Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread
I like watching these addresses. I'm already getting a little annoyed, though, with the pep rally atmosphere. Everybody clapping and standing anytime a good statement is made.

Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread
The bitter facial expressions on both sides of the aisle are priceless! (I have nothing of importance to add)

I don't know if they figured out who it was yet. CNN says they have an idea, but won't release a name until they get confirmation. |
Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread
I like the bits and pieces of the plan that are from all sides. I think reform is an easy idea to accept, but it does need to be done right.
All I am saying is the American People will get what they deserve. We have elected our officials and they hold all the cards. If you do not like what you get, please vote out the people who are preventing what you believe in. |

Meh. He's apologized for it already...
WASHINGTON (CNN) — GOP Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina issued a statement Wednesday night apologizing for his outburst during President Obama's speech to Congress: “This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill. While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.” |

This dumbf*ck clearly meant what he said so an apology is neither necessary nor desired. Honestly though, the bar has been set so low by the GOP this is hardly surprising. Not telling a lie while screaming "you lie" is too much to ask? I find the recursive nature of his "you lie" scream hilarious and sad. |

Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread
I love the movie A Few Good Men. One part that I love is the questioning of the base commander by Cruise. In that section, he repeatedly asks the commander if he ordered that the weakest soldier not be harmed, every time the commander responded more and more aggressively that he ordered the man not be harmed, and that he ordered a transfer of the man off the post. In a great moment, the lawyer asks, why the two orders. Excellent.
That's what I think of when Saden quotes the bill, saying it explicitly says not to pay illegals. if they are here illegally, and should not receive benefits anyways, why does it need to be written into the bill. anyway thats my 2cents |

Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread
I thought the address was good, it showed Obama's willing to moderate on some issues and incorporate ideas from both sides of the aisle.
He said that everyone will be required to carry insurance, like auto insurance in Pennsylvania. I love that because no longer can the uninsured head to the emergency room for care on the insured's and the taxpayers' dime. Now everyone will have to pay into the system, nobody can get away with something for nothing - no handouts for anyone. He said he wants to work to find ideas to bring down malpractice costs and looked to Republicans on those efforts. Love that. I don't care about death panels, I don't care about hecklers, don't let yourselves get distracted from the real issues. Obama is willing to moderate and compromise and because of that I think we'll get a plan passed that makes sense and works. Much detail needs to be ironed out, because when he says "we'll pay for this by eliminating wasteful spending from the healthcare system", one of the ways he currently plans to do this is by eliminating government subsidies to hospitals in very poor neighborhoods (like mine). That would crush us and could threaten to put us out of business in 10 years, leaving the poor with no access to care here in North Philly. That has to get worked through or he could do more harm than good. But the willingness to compromise on issues is encouraging. |

No they actually said much worse over the 8 years. I agree what the guy did was in poor tast but I had to watch these type of thing happen to Bush for 8 years and the left thought it was OK then but now it is wrong in their eyes. Actually even Obama's owen accounting office says that this plan is not paid for and will raise the dept by 1,000,000,000,000 over 10 years. So yes he does lie. |

If they keep using them, they will be fine. They will pass this bill. Hey! Did anyone see the look on Nancy Pelosi's face when that dude called out the President? SHE WAS PISSED! I thought she was going to jump out of her chair, over the rail and smack that dude! Grab his tie, then smack him again! I can't help but think she kicked his ass afterwards. Thats probably why he apologized so fast. |

Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread
So why would Obama pass health care bill that does not cover illegals because isn't illegals goinr to the emergency room just part of the problem. Maybe Obama's plan will just make it illegal to provide any medical treatment to illegals.
|
Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread

I see...so in a roundabout way the bill does provide illegals with coverage. I suppose by that same token the current heath care system as well as all public and private enterprises suffer from this same problem of fraud too. So the question becomes is the root of the problem the heath care bill itself? Will it be more satisfactory if we evict illegal immigrants first then enact heathcare? Regardless of whether the law applies to them or not it's in the books. Is the language in the bill valid in the court of law, yes. Is it redundant, yes. I suspect section 246 was inserted to satisfy or disarm Republicans but apparently nothing seem to work on unsatisfiable men. |
Re: The Health Care Reform Address Thread
The last time I was in the emergency room I was in there with a bunch of illegals. I had to pay for my visit because my full coverage insurance (Anthem) refused to pay. Those illegals paid nothing. I paid for them and me.
Now Barrack says I have to get insurance. As if my health belongs to the Federal Government. Since when do others get the right to decide for me what is best for me? The arrogance and subservience of the progressives is astonishing. You'll make great pets. Barrack Obama is a liar and a thief. He's no different than the other liar and thief that just left. Do you hear the printing presses running? That's the sound of poverty. |

Then both sides ought to shut the f*ck up about it (channeling my inner-saden there). It's disingenuous for all the Bush bashers to rail on this guy and be dismissive of legitimate concerns that the Dems have done it also. Intentionally or not the argument sounds like "It's ok for people I agree with to do something like this but if I don't agree with them then they need to shut up." The general tone of the current administration and party of power towards those that disagree, dismissive and condescending, only strengthens that image. |

I guess we interpret this differently, only time will tell. |
