Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
THE DON'S
Crystal Ball 2009 SEASON WEEK 3 PICKS By DonCanabis/D'BOYZ Analyst/Godfather Well as I told you guys Week 2 and Week 3 are the head scratchers bad teams look great and mess thing up because their season is almost on the line, Yeah we can all say that’s too early to say that but stats don’t lie and prepare for the worst week of the Season because no team wants to be 0-3 because your chances to reach the playoffs are practically zero. It has been 11 years since the last time a 0-3 team reached the Playoffs, so for some teams this week is almost their season. Ok some Quick Hits from last week. •Miami has screwed me over twice, they showed a great running offense with the wildcat at full motion and the defense held Peyton for most of the night but at the end the play calling was way too conservative (running in 3rd and 6), and that was one of the worst hurry up offense I’ve seen in years. What Miami showed it’s they have zero confidence in Chad and will only let him do dump offs •Dallas has the weapons but still doesn’t have the championship team mentality. Teams that aspire for great things can have bad games or tough games but at the end find ways to win. Dallas dropped the ball in the final drive and it has showed me that they still don’t get it. •The total opposite from Baltimore who right now looks pretty good as my SB champions prediction when the game was on the line they stopped SD. •Injuries in 3 teams freak me out Philadelphia, San Diego and New England. They are just piling up bodies. It doesn’t look like they will have enough ammo for the end. •It’s amazing how quickly some of last year stars are becoming a no show this year, Slaton, Forte. But it’s good some are getting their career back Benson, Shockey who had them in their fantasy team anyone. •It looks like I pissed somebody off because luck it’s not going my way with my overall predictions. 4 games this week Pit, Ten, Dal and Mia turn back on me in the last quarter or drive I just can’t catch a break. Still I broke even this week. •Some interesting facts, Was has scored 0 TD in 2 weeks, NYG is 0-6 in TD’s in the redzone and Dallas has 0 sacks and 0 turnovers. On to the games Kansas City at Philadelphia -9 .5 Ovr/Und 42 Well it looks like McNabb it’s out again, this game it’s important for both team; KC doesn’t want to be 0-3 and see their division slipped away and Kolb with Vick and Garcia breathing on his neck not only is playing for the backup position but for his future spot on this team. Now the line is way too big for this game take the home team Kolb didn’t play bad against NO the game just got way too big but take the spread both teams will fight for this game. Straight: Phi Spread: KC Ovr/Und: Ovr Cleveland at Baltimore -13.5 Ovr/Und 39 There have been two weird things in Baltimore this past 2 week they’ve scored a lot of points and they’ve been scored a lot to, a thing I don’t like. Cleveland has lost their first two matches by at least 14 points, there are a lot of problems in Cle fights and Lewis won’t play. I don’t like taking lines this big because one mistake can really screw your prediction an I don’t really know if Baltimore can keep up scoring this much for 3 weeks but Cleveland hasn’t show me any offense the first 2 week. Straight: Bal Spread: Bal Ovr/Und: Ovr New York Giants at Tampa Bay6.5 Ovr/Und 44 New York defense is hurt; they are missing guys in their front seven and secondary also, the giants haven’t been able to put the ball in once they reach the endzone. Finally Manning connected with some of his WR and the unit looks better. Tampa Bay has a really bad secondary and huge questions on offense if. Leftwich can exploit their secondary and Cadillac run’s between that hurt Defensive line we could see and upset but right now I don’t buy it. Straight: NYG Spread: NYG Ovr/Und: Ovr Atlanta at New England -4 Ovr/Und 45 I have to say Atlanta has surprised me, especially Tony Gonzalez man he might be 60 but he still plays like he’s 22. It looks like Belichick ego has finally gone over his head and he has bought the mastermind mentality. This is why I didn’t picked NE like almost half the country to be in the SB. Questions about Brady’s Knee, Young Defense, Belichick doing all DC, OC and GM. For me it has been too much for him to handle and it’s going to cost them this year. Atlanta doesn’t play great on the road so that’s why I’m taking NE at least this week. Straight: NE Spread: NE Ovr/Und: Und Tennessee at New York Jets -2.5 Ovr/Und 37 A team that shouldn’t be 0-2 it’s playing a team that has proved they should be 0-2.Mark Sanchez has played almost mistake free football and what Rex Ryan has done to that defense and overall the mentality of that team it’s amazing. But, the titans are playing for everything so I expect Mark to have his first rookie showing in the NFL. Straight: TEN Spread: TEN Ovr/Und: OVR Green Bay at St. Louis 6.5 Ovr/Und 41 Where is the Oline in Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers is getting killed out there, this game is just what the packers needed a game to regroup. I smell an upset here or at least a really close hard fought match Straight:Min Spread:SF Ovr/Und:Und Jacksonville at Houston 4 Ovr/Und 46.5 Well it took 1 week to the offense to show up for Houston and on the road that was great, the Texans usually play great at home and Jacksonville is up for a long, long season. Straight: Hou Spread: Hou Ovr/Und: Und Washington at Detroit 6.5 Ovr/Und 38.5 UPSET OF THE WEEK If there’s a week Detroit can end with their bad luck is this week. Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
If you're in the business of making money, isn't Carolina over Dallas a stronger upset?
|
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
For me gtripp an upset it's a game where I believe an Underdog will win a game not only cover the spread. The Upset of the week it's the biggest surprise of all the upsets

Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
Everyone saying the skins will lose to Detroit. So its wont necessarily be a surprise.

Banks licks the sweat from Ron Mexico's balls.
edit: I thought these were Don Banks picks. I hate Don Banks. |
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
Lol!!!!!
BTW, I think your picks suck fucking ass. :) |
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
Detroit beating Washington will be called an upset, Washington beating Detroit will be considered another team beating on a hapless team.
The way Washington has been playing I don't know why it would be called an upset. It reminds me when the Terps beat Miami when they weren't all that. |
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
im starting to wonder about you. every week you pick the cowboys. and every week you pick the skins to lose...

Seriously...why does this thread have to disgrace our board every week? Did Matty2K lose a bet or something with this guy? |
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
•Some interesting facts, Was has scored 0 TD in 2 weeks, NYG is 0-6 in TD’s in the redzone and Dallas has 0 sacks and 0 turnovers.
On to the games considering that the week one score was 23-17 and the skins had 1 fg. that tells me two tds were scored in week 1..... NYG is 0-6 in TD’s in the redzone- You area bone head. seriously don canabis.....put the bong down and take your weak stuff somewhere else |

Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
I'll say the skins score more TDs than the cowgirls get sacks.
and you are wrong, skins did score TDs. |
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
Its just his opinion and opinions are like assholes everyone has one and they all stink. That being said the skins are favored by 6.5 and the cowboys are favored by 8.5. I definitely agree that IF both upsets happen the 'boys losing would be the bigger upset.
Statistically wise Romo usually rebounds from a crappy game the next week as well as JCampbells stats against the Lions the past 2 years: Jason Campbell vs. Lions Secondary Something about the Detroit Lions seems to bring out the best in Campbell. In a 2007 game, Campbell completed 23-of-29 passes for 248 yards, two touchdowns and a 125.3 QB rating. Last year, he completed 23-of-28 passes for 328 yards, one touchdown and a career-high 127.4 QB rating. Statistically, Campbell has gotten off to solid start this season, completing 68.9 percent of his passes for 453 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The offense is ranked 18th in the league in passing yards. In the red zone, a problem area for the offense so far this season, Campbell has completed 4-of-8 passes for 29 yards, with one touchdown and one sack. Detroit’s secondary, led by veteran cornerbacks Phillip Buchanan and Anthony Henry, is ranked 25th in the league in passing defense. They are both in their first seasons with the Lions. Enough is enough. The Rams are a professional football team and they played well. The Giants are one of the best teams in the league and we played them well. The Lions are also in the league and despite having a 19 game losing streak WILL NOT find a way to beat the skins this weekend. Im tired of hearing about how the Lions will win on sportstalk radio and the other random media that I listen to. The better team wins the majority of the time. I just dont see how the Lions can match up man for man against the Skins and win. Total Offense YPG: Skins: 19th Lions: 30th Total Defense YPG: Skins: 10th Lions: 27th Further the Skins offense is (passing ypg): 18th and the Lions passing defense is: 24th Skins passing defense is ranked: 10th Lions passing offense: 26th I wont bore you with more stats but they all show that the Skins SHOULD (and will) win on Sunday. I think that the Skins are very hungry to quiet the booing fans and the media. I truely do not see the Lions including a rookie qb in Stafford punishing the Skins. I feel that JCs experience and the handful of weapons more than the Lions have will dictate a W for DC. Stop bitching everyone, we were supposed to beat the Rams and lose the the Giants. Skins are 1-1. With a win they are still right in the thick of the east. Again this is my opinion but I just don't see how the Lions will beat the SKins. |

Let's stop all the overreacting, if it weren't for a few missed opportunities with turnovers and dropped TD passes, they would have put 20+ points on the board, and everyone on here would be saying..."wow, here comes the offense, did you see how they moved the ball...Geez Zorn's offensive scheme really does work!" |

Turnovers, missed opportunities and dropped TD passes are all things that make for a bad offense. Like it or not, that's exactly what we have right now. Catch those TDs, take advantage of the opportunities, and stop turning the ball over and we'll have a good offense.
That's the big one. That's the difference between us having a below average offense and an above average offense that leans conservative. Missed opportunities and dropped TD passes happen to everyone (at different rates of course). Fumbles are just killing us. We've actually gotten lucky to have recovered as many as we have. |

Please I'm the first to say things are not ok with my team and if we were going against a team that has shown something I wouldn't pick them to win. You critic me about Ware but You're the one still defending Orakpo playing LB how's that going for you 2 games 2 tackles and you said he was going to put pressure on 3rd down and get sacks. |

All picking games really comes down to is probabilities. You take all the information you can get, toss out what you deem to be valueless, and then you make the best pick. Anyone here can do that. Where you have to make your money is by finding games where there's a blowout waiting to happen, but vegas necessarily doesn't see it that way. Calling a game to be "close" is basically saying that you could have gone either way (whether straight or the spread), but you hope to be lucky. Speaking in absolutes (and take this from me) just makes you look like an ass. I happen to be a quite horrible game picker, btw. I don't bill myself as someone who can pick 12 games right per week though. |

Orakpo has no 20 sack seasons, obviously. It's an imperfect comparison, so I guess I'm not shocked you would throw it out there.
I'm the first to say things are not ok with my team and if we were going against a team that has shown something I wouldn't pick them to win.
Well, Washington is going against a team that hasn't shown one thing... Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
The've shown they can score points against great teams one with a really good defense and they shown that even if they're losing they don't give up.
Was couldn't score a TD against the worst team in the NFL. Yes I'm a fan but frist I'm a gambler and I bet Footbal every week every year I take this very siruously I post what I bet Sunday. First week I won $170 Usd week 2 broke even... was goignto win $250 if Pit didn't lose that game in te final minutes. I've never going to be 16-0 a week (against the spread) because luck and weird things happen and bad picks I haven't seen one person going 16-0 against the spread I've have had 15-1 weeks but never 16-0 |

53 Really read the post before that one and the next paragraph of the one you just read it says that I made bad calls we all do but that not all the ones you get wrong are bad calls some are just BAD LUCK.

That's the nature of sports. If you picked wrong, you picked wrong. Own up to it. The point is that you have an overblown idea of your own expertise. The fact is that you cannot seem to think clearly, you cannot write worth a damn, you do not work from accurate facts, and you really don't seem to understand the game of football very much. Personally I would be embarrassed to purvey garbage the way that you do. Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
Ok Lotus if it isn't for you it isn't for you... I won't waste my time on you either but ask your other members who pick in my league the past 3 years and how I've beat them every year. 2 1st places one third place. But hey I don't know what I'm doing just pickiing gmes from the hat.
I do the work I jsut post a quick remark I'm not goign to type every single thing I consider to do the pick because the column would be way to big for any board |
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
D'BOYZ, let's look at Denver-Cincinnati as an extreme example of luck in a football game. We had a play that decided the game that will not happen even 3 times if the exact same route was thrown 1000 times against the same coverage. It decided the game.
Did the people who bet Denver straight up deserve the win? Not necessarily. Did people who bet Cincinnati deserve the win? Not necessarily. Cincinnati's entire argument about out-playing Denver boils down to completely befuddling Kyle Orton and having a lone nice drive at the end of the game. If not for that last drive, the Stokley play never happens. It's just Kyle Orton kneeling on a ball after playing awful. I'm not a betting man, but I picked Cincinnati in that game as well. It's okay though, I can't really pick games either. |
Re: Don's Crystal Ball Week 3 Picks
I totally agree with you on that one no team did anything to deserve to win that game... I put it as an expample of how luck has an affect on results sometimes I wasn't upset I got that call bad because it wasn't like Cin deserved to win.

First Lotus English isn't my first language so everything you say about that I absolutely don't care because I know I speak better and write better than a a lot of people that actually is their first language.
Now if I stop everything I do because some yahoo's think I'm an Idiot when they don't do bring anything to the table or game and surely don't know crap about the game, I don't give a crap. You haven't said anything, that has to do with the games, because you're the classic example good to critic other's work and Quote other's ideas but you can't do or create anything by your own. So please move on or bring anything worth reading. |
