is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
I like many of the posters on this forum, am hugely frustrated with the status of the team. I have been a skins fan since 1976 (Except for a brief period during my teen years when I lost my mind and rooted for the eagles for 2 seasons). At this point of the season I am ready to pull what little hair i have out. the o line is again a problem and is not going to get any better. For what ever reason the front office refuses to see that we need an O Line to get anything done. Last year we were the only team in the league that didn't have a starting O Lineman in his 20's. this year was almost as bad and to make matters worse, when Randy Thomas went out for the year the filled his roster spot with a 5th running back (who has yet to be active for a game).
Look back to our super bowl years and ask the question, what was the anchor of those teams? it was the Hogs and the coach. different Qb's, Rb's and Wr's but we had a solid o line with much of the same personel from year to year. We also had an owner that was less hands on. In my opinion a hands on owner leads to disfunction (see Jones in Dallas and Davis in Oakland) so much so that many of the quality coaches won't come here becuse of the messed up front office. and unless we see some front office changes we are doomed. The big difference between Gibbs 1.0 and 2.0 was not him, his age or the fact that the game had changed, it was the difference in ownership and front office. So as Mr. Snyder prepares to hire his 7th coach in 11 years and waste huge money on uneffective free agent moves while refusing to address real needs, I ask the question what is a fan to do? I don't have the ability to switch teams, I will quit following football before I will pull for someone else but is there anything we can do? I wonder what would happen if we the fans could send a message to mr. Snyder and say, untill things change we are done. we are not buying gear, we are not buying tickets and we are not buying concessions if we already have tickets. Could that send the desired messge? I don't know I am just asking I there any way we the fans can be heard? |
Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
The only way to get through to Snyder is to hit him where it really hurts: his pockets (and maybe his balls too for good measure).
The only card fans can play is to stop going to games. If the stadium isn't sold out, then the game is not aired on TV. Do this until the Redskins become unprofitable and Snyder would either sell the team or wake up and see the truth. Problem is, us Redskins fans are f'ing whores when it comes to this team -- far too dedicated and emotionally invested to demand more from our owner and boycott until things change. So, the short answer is: No. So sorry. Thanks for playing "Raped and Shamed" featuring Dan Snyder. Better luck next time! |
Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
its to bad a walk out of sorts could be staged. a half full stadium would send a message sure enough

Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
You can enjoy the consolation of knowing you are not alone, many fans are asking that same question. What can we do? Through our efforts here at the warpath in conjunction with the efforts of others elsewhere, the word is getting to Ashburn. What affect it's going to have remains to be seen.

Anyone know of a good address? would a huge letter writing campagin have any effect?

Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
For the most part, fans are ignorant and irrational. They know this. Don't waste your time.

Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
It starts with the guys here like Matty and Smoot they would have the pull to get something together with there connections in redskin nation it would start slow but Im sure it could happen.

Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???

Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
Breaking News: Washington Redskins Owner Dan Snyder Set To Hire New GM.
Team owner, Daniel Snyder, looking to add a spark to the struggling Redskins, has found a new General Manager for his team. Snyder has offered the position to a money stack with big googly eyes. The money stack is currently a pitchman for GEICO Insurance. The deal is reportedly worth the unguaranteed portion of Albert Hanesworth's $100 million contract. Snyder will likely be retaining Executive Vice President of Football Operations, Vinnie Cerrato, The 'Skins owner said the move simply "brings in another set of eyes." Snyder recently placed a sort of gag order on Defensive Coordinator Greg Blache, something not neccessary with the potential new GM, as he only communicates via text, never verbally. Snyder was also impressed that the GEICO representative, like himself, was made of money. There is a possibility that, if hired the money stack could bring in his own crew, including the Geico Gecko to replace head coach Jim Zorn. Zorn denied the rumor, but did mention that he"always feels like somebody's watching me" Dan Snyder revealed that an overriding factor in his decision to make this move was "the money he could be saving by switching to GEICO (employees) |

Problem is, we have too many fans, and too many of us will not hear that, or just not do it. That is the SMART way to do it assuming you can get enough media attention so that all our fans jump on board. If there was access to write to these people, they would have thousands upon thousands of letters or e-mails explaining what they think the skins should do. Sure some people know what to do, but majority of people don't have a clue. I'm sure you'd get comments like "trade for Peyton Manning" etc. You can't listen to the public or you will collapse. Then again, could it get much worse than how we're playing? |

You can bet your butt....somebody in the Skins organization is assigned to monitor such things and keep their finger on the collective pulse of Redskin nation. AND....it ain't good. Is it enough to get VC moved out of football ops? Time will tell. AND, I can say, I have been a Skins fan since 1970 > <. In that time I cannot remember the morale of the fan or apparently the team being worse. This must be obvious to DanFinger |

F-ing classic. Someone needs to f with Vinny's Wika as well. |
Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
i think danny got the message about hiring jim fassil a year ago, so if we the fans, keep talking about it on message boards and on radio shows it will get to danny's ears.

Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
To me there is no way that he can feel the pain unless his bank account starts to feel it. Even then, I am not sure that he would sell the team or make the changes necessary. Look at what he did to Six Flags and some of the other businesses he held during his lifetime. The Redskins are a cash cow and there plenty of people who still go to the games and still buy the merchandise. As long as that happens Mr. Snyder has his toy to play with the way that he sees fit.
He will continue to fly into Fed Ex Field on his helicopter and he will continue to pal around with the players and continue to knee cap the people he has brought in to manage the team. Until people stop going to the games in droves we are going to be doomed to this ego maniac's decision making which is crippling our beloved team. I just wish that the Redskins were like how the Packers are structured. That would have been best, but unfortunately we have Napoleon. . . Dynamite running our team and as long we do, we are going to have a goofball who continues to fawn over ligers and act like an idiot. |

what am i missing? all I see is this and its not funny Snyder is married to his wife Tanya, with whom he has two daughters and a son. His two daughters and son attend a private school in Bethesda, Maryland called The Harbor School. Template:Washington Redskins)) On May 3, 2008, Snyder announced at the Larry King Cardiac Foundation in Washington, D.C., that Tanya was being treated for breast cancer.[14] She underwent surgery at Minnesota's Mayo Clinic on Friday, May 2 2008.[15] |

There was a sentence about Snyder taking in the kiester and blowing his wife schlong...only not in those silly words. |
Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
Being a long time fan and supporter of the Redskins, and having the opportunity to speak with many others like myself, espically on game day, I get the feeling the psyche of many DC fans has been damaged. We suffered the loss of two Baseball teams and it took more than thirty yrs. to get another franchise after the last one moved to Texas.
It was a long and painful time trying to get over the dismay of not having Baseball in the nations capitol. Fans here really love the Redskins, and when I say damaged psyche, we put up with a lot, trying our level best not to alienate the powers that be for fear one day Daniel Snyder might pull a Bob Short, or a Robert Irsay, and we wake up one day and find out our team will be moving to LA. This may sound crazy to some of the younger fans that are not old enough to remember Baseball leaving Washington twice, for some of us oldtimers we realize it could be a legitimate concern. Of course we pray to God this will not happen to our football team, but memories of Baseball is still (after all these years) still fresh in our minds. |
Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
Stop going to games, stop buying gear and stop giving Snyder your money. That is how it is going to hurt him. Until this happens he is a happy man.

Supposedly he owns (through Six Flags) a major plot of land that is considered a prime location for a stadium. I mean I don't think he has any plan to move the Redskins but still I thought it was interesting Anyway, as someone who has been a fan for, well, a long time, I'm wondering if in previous lean times (the 60s for example), there was the same backlash or was there not because there weren't the same means of communication that there are now. |

Fans are reluctant to atempt at following his thought process if he gets the feeling of being undermined, or underapreciated. He may resort to the same type knee-jerk reaction to the fans he does towards his coaches. I'm praying he'll eventually hear the cries of the people. |

Re: is there a way that we the fans can be heard???
I guess one of the best things we can do is post and email everywhere we can. voice our displeasure with the way the team is being run. I haven't been to a game in two years cause I don't live local nor do I have the budget. but I am starting to light up every board I can and comment on every blog post and online story that allows it. I don't know what else to do.
We can only hope that everyone will voice their front office displeasure in every means possible |

Going to games is okay imho because tickets are sold out allready. But dont buy tickets from Stubhub, buy from craigslist or ebay. Wearing brown bags to games, however; is a great idea. Not buying anything at games INCLUDING BEER is a great idea. Only buying knock off Chinese jerseys on eBay is a good idea. And keep posting disappointment comments on messages boards is smart. I listen to a lot of sports radio and fans finnally seem to be calling up and voicing their concern, usually in Richmond no one calls (including myself), so start calling and ALWAYS include some disappointment in the ownership in addition to whatever you might you have to say. I think just dont stop. I mean look what complacency has gotten us. Look whats saying danny s. wants whats best, he wants the same as us, has given us. Look what saying well cerrato has made some good draft moves in the later rounds, lets not think about the other things has done. Look what saying hey EVERYONE admits the oline is the biggest weakness lets just ignore drafting there because jersey sales take a huge hit if we do has brought this team. Go to Kings Dominion and Bush Gardens not Six Flags. Buy knock off Redskins gear online not the genuine products from Redskins Stores, redskins.com or even cheap little nick naks like koozies and decals from grocery stores. Fuck Authentic. Buy Knock Off, if you really love this team. Not just for the rest of this season but until we are legit contenders or ownership has materially changed. If you think any royalties may end up in dannys pocket dont buy. When in doubt just move on. If you can Stop Caring thats the biggest way to be heard. Thats the hardest thing to do, but maybe the most meaningful. Start routing for you back up teams. Support your passion not the ownership! |

Again, what I wrote was just a rumor that had nothing to do with Snyder moving the team (I'm sure he won't). I was just talking about him allegedly owning (sort of) land that the NFL is interested in for a team in Los Angeles |

Yeah...I'm just tangenting on an imaginary topic. How offended would you be if that took place. Mayflower style, up and move to LA. I think we'd get a new team to DC but you know they wouldn't give us the name Redskins again due to it's (perceived) derogatory nature. ...I'd have to kill someone if that happened. |

i agree i am encouraged at the backlash (as wierd as that sounds) I have been training my son in the skins way, taken him to games taught him about the history of the team we have a decent amount of skins stuff and he is pretty well up to speed on team history. the sad thing is he is 16 and hasn't been around for any of the good stuff.
