You know, the irony of it all is that I had picked this as a surprise loss for us when the schedule came out. Of course, we were supposed to be riding a four game winning streak going into this game. But still I expected a loss...I take no solace in being right.

It's hard not to just line up everyone from Snyder on down to the waterboy and give them just one huge smack. But I'll try to single out the worst of the worst

Time to lay the smack down

[B]Jason Campbell[/B] I really thought he made great strides last year, but he's just not getting it done this year. I don't trust him anymore as our quarterback. Which is a shame, I was really rooting for him. But too many of us are digging into obscure stats just to show his worth (Campbell is 3-4 for 48 yards on day games when Nancy Pelosi is a guest on Meet the Press) and that to me is a sign of really reaching. And look I know Campbell isn't to blame for the Redskins giving up so much for him, but like I said when he was drafted you better damn well be Brett Favre, especially when we could have just kept our 3rd and drafted Kyle Orton. It may not be fair, but that's too bad. And I know we have offensive line issues, but in the first half there will plenty of opportunities given by our offensive line for Campbell to make plays and they simply weren't made. Meanwhile, I look at the Packers and their horrific offensive line, and yet Rodger makes plays. Maybe Campbell will have success elsewhere, I'm sure he can, but let's put an end to this unfortunate experiment right now. Is it fair to put so much blame on Campbell? Maybe not, but that's life as an NFL QB. I'll be curious to see what happens now that Cerrato has "suggested" Zorn spend more time as head coach and helping the QB.

[B]Teammates Complaining that Campbell Got Benched[/B] So some of the guys on offense were "not happy" with the decision to bench Campbell. Are these the same guys that say it's not on Zorn and that they want management to commit to him? You know what. No one cares what you think. These rushes to defend teammates and coaches is just idle talk. It's really easy to say you support someone when you have a guaranteed contract that keeps the money coming whether Zorn and Campbell are coaching/starting or not. It's another to say it and then do something about it. As a whole the offense's effort today was worse than pathetic...it was apathetic.

[B]Carlos Rogers[/B] I think Bowe is underrated...but most people Rogers is too. He's playing too soft this year in my opinion. He's getting turned around too often and getting out manned by some of the league's bigger receivers. He's playing like a guy just counting the days until he signs with his next team, but he's not playing like a guy looking for a big contract.

[B]Spirit Airlines[/B] Just wanted to throw this in here. Awful service, dirty planes, hidden additional costs. You get what you pay for I suppose.

[B]The Balloon Buffoons[/B] Idiot parents "We take our kids out of school and take them storm chasing because it's educational" You want to create some elaborate hoax for a reality show and waste government time and resources, and disrupt people's routines...you go right ahead and accept the consequences. But don't drag your kids into this mess. Don't worry a nation with the thought a little boy might be flying off into who knows where, don't make a moderator on a Redskins message board start a thread about your poor kid...just saying

[B]Jerry Gray/Sherman Lewis[/B] I'm just practicing for when they are officially named interim head coach and play caller sometime in the next 24 to 240 hours

[B]Dan Snyder[/B] I'm not one of those "I hate the man even though I don't know him so I'm going to hurl all sorts of insults and threats at him" kind of guy. But dude's got to make serious, impactful changes in the next few weeks and months. And they need to be well-thought out changes that will have a positive impact come next October. Not front page splashes that will have a positive impact in March.

[B]Devin Thomas/Malcom Kelly[/B] You know if neither of you wants that #2 WR position, I'll take it. Seriously. What is this? Pathetic...no sorry, apathetic

On a positive note, I thought Brian Orakpo and Andre Carter had strong games and I was happy to see Chris Wilson getting more minutes at the SAM, freeing up Orakpo to play more on the line

Oh well, tomorrow should be a freakin' blast at work.

Its time to go tough love, every job is open regardless of your draft or pay. For our 2 wrs we took high not to make any contributions to this point is pathetic. Put in Marko,Mason and TC. Relieve ARE of his return duties and start the purge.

WELL It's only going to get worse ppl, TC isn't much better than Jason "my nfl career days as a starter are over" Campbell. I can't remember our team looking like a 3-13 yr.

Daniel needs to be picked up, even if it is for depths sake at this point. Neither of our QBs will be here in 2010 and Brennan is not starter quality either.

I think JC will get the start next week vs the Eagles, but it might be a very ugly time for him out there. The Eagles were totally embarrassed tonight.

Either let Campbell finish the season out as the starter or trade him before the deadline on Tuesday for draft picks which can be used on the line. Might as well get something for him before he leaves for free in free agency.

You suggested that if Davis and/or Kelly do not want the #2 WR position, they should cede it to you. Are you interested in taking over for Chad Rinehart too? After the way the OL looked today against the 32nd ranked defense in the NFL, you really have to worry about a young offensive lineman that can't crack the rotation...

I believe that the only way to fix this team is to have them tank the season. At the same time the defense will show that they are worthy of being considered among the best in the league, but that will only be to insure that Washington isn't seen as some sort of Elephant Graveyard to potential Head Coaches.

A lot of us heard recently that Snyder's next head coaching candidate would have to be someone that could work with Vinny. This is unacceptable in my book. The guy has only been involved with a playoff team (with the Redskins) while Gibbs was around. However with Spurrier, Turner, and Zorn the team has never even made the playoffs. 5 years is more then enough to find out how someone is doing and unfortunately Cerrato has failed. Not miserably but he doesn't have the offense (smash mouth) to compliment a tough defense.

Going 2-14 would hopefully be the wakeup call to Snyder in that he needs to realize that you can't go 2 out of 3. You can't go for the best coaches, best players, and then settle for your best friend as GM while you talk about the next big receiver or running back you can add to the team.

Of course then when you actually make a good draft pick you have the coaching staff put him on the inactive list. It's almost like Cerrato and Zorn want to fail.

At the same time Orakpo really is getting ready to become the Cooley of the defense. I remember looking at the stat columns during games early in Cooley's career while shaking my head thinking "this guy is going to be good." I now find myself saying the same thing about Orakpo. Of course at one point I was saying the same thing about Betts (2006) and Campbell (first half 2008).

In the end though I seriously believe that the only way this team can have long term success is to have a season so bad that the organization is all but forced to run properly, starting with a quality GM.

I've got my fingers crossed that some good can come out of this disaster of a season. With the team falling flat on their faces, perhaps this is the wake up call Snyder needs.

Also, with the possibility of no cap next year, can we please dump Portis? I used to be a big backer of his but I think he represents all that is wrong with the Redskins right now. He's overpaid and he underproduces, and he even though he comes to play on Sundays, the fact he sets his own practice schedule sends the wrong message. We need a team full of blue collar guys who give 110% during the week in practice AS WELL as on Sundays.

Agreed. Portis' time is past. And I never have understood why he was given so many passes regarding practice. As you said, it sends the wrong message.

I agree and have been saying it for awhile.[B] Portis absolutely represents what is wrong with this team.[/B] Last year when he threw Zorn under the bus and Vinny and others said, "Oh thats just Clinton being Clinton", it about made me sick. Undermining the HC and whining about playing time when you won't even practice is not how you win in this league. He's been a prima donna since he's been here with the cooperation of the FO and he has sent the wrong message to his team mates from day one. He sets a bad example and can't help but fall over his own feet when he runs. He runs into the back of his linemen instead of cutting to an open lane then calls out his blockers. His act grew old with me long ago, and I'll be glad to see him gone.

Perhaps some good will come from this. The realization that we're not a player or two away is a good thing.

I"m about done w/ alot of players on the skins, but yes, CP is one of them. I like the way he plays on Sundays, but he's slowed down in recent years. I don't think he's a pure #1 starting RB anymore. He couldn't really out run Sellers on his long run yesterday. Just watch another game and tell me CP's not slowed down. Love the guy, but we've got to move on. Anyone watch Ray Rice lately?

All that's been said about Portis is true, but would anyone else agree that Santana Moss is almost the same situation? Maybe not with his practice habits, but not since 2005 has he given us much of anything.

I dunno, he had a pretty good year last year and is still on pace for 1,000 yards this year too. But at this point I definitely would look to move him to the #2 role.

NO way! Moss has his limits for sure, but he's the only consistent playmaker at wr we have. Have you missed all the plays he's made since 2005?

He may not be much at getting open when's he double teamed, but that points out the lack of respect teams have for the other wr's. Watching Collins scan the field & hold the ball yesterday made it pretty apparent to me that the wr's are as much an issue w/this team's lack of offense as the O line, maybe more so. Moss may not be a top wr, but he's so much better than any of the others, whereas I don't see the gap between CP & Betts as that wide.

I don't agree with your assessment of his production. look at the drop off when we put Ladell in the game... Portis is doing a solid job with this horrible line. Obviously I'm still a Portis supporter.
BTW, He is #7 in the league in rushing. Imagine where he would be if we could convert 3rd downs or take a lead into the 4th quarter.

Considering what he gets paid are you happy with his production? He's had a nice run in D.C., but I think it's time to get rid of some of these fat-cat players.

Clean out the offense. Sorry. Santana Moss is an AVERAGE number 1 on a bad team, and a great number 2 WR on a great team. I supported Jason from his earliest days, but it's time to move on. He could be a decent number 2 somewhere, but he does not have what it takes to be a playoff QB. My concern is that if Dan doesn't bring in someone to make decisions around here we are going to be taking a Q with our top 5 pick. We need draft heavy on the offensive line and just accept we are a few years off from a .500 season. I am not giving up on devon and malcom just yet. I'd like to see what they can do with a Q who can put fear into a defense and change how they cover our guys. So sad how I went into this season thinking we are entering our 4-5 year window where we can make serious runs at it, to let's rebuild the offense from the top down and see what happens in a few years. Let's get back to the smashmouth NFC east offense we used to be. HTTR.

At this point I'd rather see Marko Mitchell and ANTHONY ALRIDGE get time playing WR over Thomas and Kelly. You might think I sound crazy saying Alridge so be our WR since there's a good chance that he's never played there, but do you really think he'd have any less impact than Thomas or Kelly? Hell, the only decent play of either of their careers was the end around that Thomas ran last year, so why the hell not.

its like you almost cut and pasted one of my posts this offseason (that you and others blasted me for saying there is no stat for heart, Cp coming off a 1500 yd season is not a prob etc.)

now you believe in heart? now you believe winning requires 110% with players like london fletcher, not the likes of CP and moss?

I've changed my mind. I've freely admitted to being wrong in the past about things, I know some here are never wrong, but I know I am.

But I find it hard to believe I would have told you that you know nothing about football. At the time I have may disagreed with you, but spare me the drama.

Good for you if you saw this coming. Give yourself a big pat on the back. I think I need to start keeping score of when I'm right and others are wrong. Seems to be the popular thing to do these days.
