Zorn press conference
 

He simply looks like a broken man that has grudgingly going along and you can tell he is not happy about this. Just sad.

He said he would 'comply' with the 'strong' suggestions. When asked is Sherm Smith was considered, he simply responded, it is Lewis. This does not sound like a HC that made this decision voluntarily.

Any person who would accept the conditions that have been forced on him would have to be devoid of any conscience...that or he's being paid handsomely just go along with things.

Something is fishy with him being fine with one, the consultant, and two, the further demotion from his most important function.

Vinny is such a PUSSY, that he is basically putting on the squeeze to make Zorn resign by having someone else do the play calling and bringing in a consultant.

Eff that...If he had balls he'd say "I'm going out and calling plays against the Eagles...if you don't like it you can pay me the remainder of my contract...thanks for your patronage"

The only reason he wouldn't do that is if it's in his best interest to stick around and take this. The only way someone would be fine with that is if there is some additional compensation/insentive that we don't know about.


Whatever it is...any normal human being would not remain/compromise under these circumstances. Zorn is either really special or has vested interest that is unknown to the general public.

He's being smart about this, for himself and his family.

He knows he's toast. He knows Dan and Vinny don't want to scare off yet another cadre of big-name coaches by blowing up yet another year is amateurish fashion, so they are inclined to let him stay on nominally while they meddle, tinker, and otherwise emasculate the guy.

Guys like Mosley say it's humiliating and he should quit and storm out, to save his dignity. Well, I'll tell you two things -- there's a fine line between dignity and stupidity, and dignity doesn't pay your mortage.

I feel bad for the way this is going down, but I've been in a similar situation and I think Zorn is absolutely sad, humiliated, pissed, and probably a lot more fired up than he's letting on. I feel bad that it turned out this way for the guy, but I respect the fact that he had the guts to try to take this on.

He took advantage of a huge opportunity and nearly made it work -- no matter what else happens, the first half of last year was amazing for him and the team, and he'll probably get another chance to coach again. I imagine a lot of people will like the way he's handled himself through this process, and Vinny and Danny will come out looking like incompetent morons who set a good guy up for failure.

Zorn is a soft bitch and Vinny is pure 100% garbage and needs to get fired TODAY. I'm sorry but who the hell brings in a guy mid season when he doesn't even know the damn offense and let him call plays two weeks later?? WTF is going on over in Ashburn????? Zorn looks like a puppet and the players have probably lost all respect for the guy for not standing up to Dan's bitch. Jack Kent Cooke is seriously rolling over in his grave.

We don't know what is in his contract, but certainly looks like it allows Vinny to have say over some matters. Zorn is going about this in the same way he has everything; he's a stand up guy, that alone seems like more than can be said of his bosses.

Yeah. I found that a little disturbing. I don't blame Zorn. It's easy for people on here to say they'd rather quit or be fired but they're not the one giving up a lifelong dream. If it helps, we know that playcalling was the problem.

I don't think Zorn is soft. He is an NFL quarterback. I would say he is tougher than 99% of the people out there.

if zorn doesnt quit and takes the DS crap until the DS fires him he probably gets his full contract money for the remaining year and half.

I agree. I have never liked him as much as right now. He is a terrible head coach but he definitely is a smart guy.

Getting the money is good and a no brainer but you do have to factor this in...your professional credibility.

If he proves to have no regard for his own authority as an NFL head coach that is going to affect his authority in future positions. The NFL is run by leaders, compromising in this fashion is pretty much telling everyone in the league that you are a push over when it comes to your command.


He better enjoy the money he receives here because I don't envision his head coaching or offensive coordinating career continuing in the long run.

As my mother used to say, God don't like ugly. This is just bad organizational management. But we all know that. I think I'm rooting for Zorn now. It's so funny how Tom Coughlin was in similiar shoes just a couple (three) years ago. My how winning cures all.

If Zorn knew how to play this, he could actually make this all a rallying point for him and the team, and further complicate for Snyder and Cerrato during the off season.

I think the only credibility question was when he accepted the job here. And no one can blame a quarterback coach for taking a head job.

Nothing Zorn has done will hurt his credibilty as a professional. This organization is a joke and no one will fault Zorn for ensuring his paycheck on the way out the door.

Plus this is by far the biggest paycheck that he has seen or probably will ever see. He is playing this hand perfectly.

I'm going to disagree with you on that one. There's something about failing here, in Washington, that to a certain extent gives you cover for your next gig.

I'll bet that another team will snap Zorn up after this mess and he'll move on with his life in the NFL. I don't think he'll ever be head coach material, but I do think there's room for his talent at the NFL level. He'll be fine.

It almost looks like Snyder has said to Vinny that the moment you fire Zorn is the moment that you are also fired.

It looks like Vinny is trying to find a way to keep Zorn on but get the major decisions to qualified people so he has a chance to technically have Zorn succeed.

Strange as hell but really...no one can make sense of what is happening in DC.

That's what a man would do. Then he leaves with everything in tact. He retains his dignity, gains respect, and gets paid. There are a ton of people in the NFL that would've had a lot more respect for Zorn if he had the balls to stand up for himself. Everyone in the NFL knows what goes on in Ashburn, Oakland, and Dallas.

He's not commanding an army, he's a head coach and that's way more about understanding and dealing with everyone in the organization from players to mgmt to the receptionist that it is about dolling out orders and playing the pseudo hard a$$. There is an interesting piece in this week's Sports Illustrated about drill sgt coaches.

Everyone in the league knows what the Skins organization is like and I dont think his credibility will be hurt at all. The best way to hurt his credibility is to be an antogonistic jerk. That would kill his future prospects more than anything. Because one compromises does not mean he's a pushover, it means he knows how to play the game and work with people.

As a player he was tough as nails. But as a coach he's just soft. He's letting a guy that's been there two weeks take over his offense. That's a fucking joke. He should've let Sherman Smith, who is actually the OC call the plays. I didn't really have a problem w/ bringing in Lewis to look things over but now he's the play caller???? WTF????????? I wonder what would've happened to Vinny if he said this to Joe Gibbs. lol.

I think it is completely underrated how horrible a move it is to have Sherm Lewis call the plays...this is down right embarassing.

He has been with the team 2 weeks, wasn't there for preseason, doesn't know the players, hasn't called plays in forever and wasn't good at it when he did it. WTF is Vinny doing????

I can't believe Zorn is sticking around, but at least he is making Vinny and Danny fire him and further look like the inept douches they are. I can't think of any other reason why Vinny would do this except to force Zorns resignation.

That was the most uncomfortable press conference I have ever listened too.... DAMN, just DAMN!
