Snyder's "apology"

CLINTON, Md. (AP) -- Dan Snyder says his Washington Redskins have "let everyone down."
In a rare, in-season interview with reporters, Snyder said at a charity event that the team is embarrassed by its 2-5 start and hopes to turn things around soon.
Snyder has been the subject of much ire from some fans. Signs critical of the owner have been confiscated at recent home games as part of the team's new crackdown on all signs and banners at the stadium.
Snyder was asked about the sign ban but did not address the issue. Regarding the fans, he said: "We've let everyone down, including ourselves, and we know that and we're just apologetic."

I don't know if I truly consider that an "apology". But I guess its a start. Baby steps....

Re: Snyder's "apology"

If he was truly apologetic he would fire VC as a token of his honesty in intending to turn this team around "soon."

SBXVII 11-03-2009 03:56 PM

Re: Snyder's "apology"

Also, what does VC actually do at this point? Is his job so important that he could not be fired or if he was someone would have to replace him immediatly or the team would have trouble?

Longtimefan 11-03-2009 03:57 PM

Re: Snyder's "apology"

I really don't consider that an apology, all he's saying is what everyone else has been saying. Nothing apologetic.

I don't think he needs to apologize. Does anyone really think he's happy with losing?

I know he's not happy, but he isn't just some guy in the stands though! He's the man that makes all of the decisions. He can't wash his hands of this.

Teams lose Mattyk72 that's not the issue(at least as I see it) as much as the way he has treated the fans, yeah he needs to apologize.

Agree. He is directly responsible for disgracing this franchise with his poor leadership. Its beyond embarrassement at this freakin point.

He doesn't owe any apology. I don't need to hear from him, I don't care if he never speaks another word as long as he is owner. Talk means nothing, all he has to do is take action. He could tell us to go fuck ourselves for all I care, just take action to make the team better. As long as he does that, that's the only "apology" I need

If he wants to apologize then he should reimburse the fans that saw the team lose against KC and Philly at home.

Well I'm glad he at least spoke, I actually enjoy watching interviews with him... but I want my apology after the season, when we start building a football team the right way.

Re: Snyder's "apology"

It's kinda nice, that it's a bit of a positive. I'm tired of hearing jokes about my team. Hey, we're bad, we're going to fix this thing. That's what i want to hear.

But, yes, actions speak alot louder. If DS wants to fix this thing, then fix it. It's broke. Fix it. We're tired of seeing the same ole crap. DS wants to win. I like that. DS is not stupid and I like that.

If he keeps VC on payroll much after January I might change my mind.

But has Snyder himself admitted to anything? Most of this is his fault, i think...he needs to admit to too much meddling and just leave it for more competent people to handle...

Re: Snyder's "apology"

For those who are hoping that Snyder will be embarrassed into making major changes: this apology, sincere or not, would be step 1 in that process. On to step two!

Re: Snyder's "apology"

he doesnt need to apologize, he needs to take his butt out of the football decision making process.

if he truly wants to win, i really hope that after 10 years of doing it his way and seeing the state of the franchise today, he is smart enough to know what to do.

step aside lil man and let actual football competent people make the football decisions.

go skins!! go f yourself snyder!!

That is exactly what I thinking as I read it, his 'Redskins let everyone down'.
That implies the players and coaches are at fault, everyone bu the FO.

Either way I am not looking for an apology. Just get rid of Cerratto, hire a qualified GM and stay the fuck out of the way of player personnel and coaching staff hiring decisions. Danny you are not a football man and you never will be one.

Re: Snyder's "apology"

That was the standard I feel bad for the fans nonsense. who cares....I want action! Fire Vinny now...tell him to take his new play caller with him. Reinstate Zorn's power again and stop this team from being a laughing stock. That's the apology I want. Then go back in your bunker and start thinking about who should get the keys in January.

Let's keep in mind this was not a scheduled interview to discuss the state of the Redskins. This was a Redskins Charitable Foundation event where Snyder gave some answers about the state of the team after the event.

In terms of Snyder's "getting it," it is possible that he does "get it," he just doesn't want to eat that much crow in public, like many rational people.

You guys sound like a bunch of little girls who got their feelings hurt when the other little girls called them names. Now you want an apology and for them to tell mommy what they said so mommy can give you all a big hugh and make you feel better.

What else do you guys think he's going to say? He's doing these things to bring the fan base back to Fedex and stop fans from posting derogatory signs, he probably is embarrassed. Like most of you have said, actions speak louder than words.

Afterward, speaking to a small group of reporters in a parking lot, Snyder elaborated — although only in general terms. In a question that referenced two recent controversies surrounding the team — the suing of fans who couldn't pay for their premium tickets, and a total ban on fans carrying signs and banners into the stadium — Snyder addressed neither issue.

First off both of those have been addressed and why is the press digging up the suing of fans again when they answered all that and dropped the suit? This was a fund raiser not Meet The Press.

Re: Snyder's "apology"

Why would Snyder want to stay in Washington, no matter what he does or says, fans here are gonna lambaste him for too much/too little. He should paraphrase Col. Jessup " I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to the fans who watch the very team I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way". Then mImpetert's Kapipal would fill up real fast!

Re: Snyder's "apology"

Its funny how many people want DS to say he failed more then anything else. Why? I think the product on the field spells a pretty loud FAILED all by it self. Then they wany Vinny fired in the middle of the season. Why? So we start winning and make the playoffs? It just does not make any sense to start throwing people under the bus im the middle of the season. Lets finish out the year and then start cleaning house. The only way I'd say fire VC right now would be because you have a new GM that can come in and start to look things over.
