Anyone else hate Madden '10?
I used to love drafting players, developing them, and simming the games. Maybe I'm blind, but this is no longer an option on franchise mode. I really don't find playing matches all that fun. I find some plays that work well and exploit them. I like developing players and trying to sim the super bowl. Any idea why they got rid of that part of the game? If people didn't want to, they didn't have to -- but being able to added to the game for me.
|
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
Yes, you are blind.
Franchise mode is still there and you can still sim. |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
I wasn't very clear. I know franchise mode is there, and I know I can still sim. But they got rid of player development via mini-games. That's what I miss.
|
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
Yeah I agree about getting rid of player development via mini-games. I used to ball in those and I would always pick young depth that would gradually make an impact in games. Plus the player progression frustrates the hell out of me, like if I had a guy that had a breakout season his ratings wouldn't even improve that much. That's the main reason why I haven't played Madden hardly, that and how much I love COD:MW2.

gotcha, yeah if that was your thing that definitely sucks |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
I tried the superstar mode. I went through the process twice. Got drafted by the Cowboys, twice (different positions) and shut off my 360 in rage both times.

Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
My relationship with Madden is the same every year:
August - OMG, this year is SO much better than last year. YES! This game is sweet! September - Just finished my second franchise season, the computer is getting a little too easy to beat now that I've figured out its tricks. Might have to take my game online soon. October - Online is the same goofy crap it's always been, I'm gonna go back to franchise. November - I've got the difficulty jacked way up and I'm still beating the computer easily. This game is not as realistic as it seemed in August. Still pretty fun though. December - This game sucks. Can't wait for next year. It's been like this since my Genesis days. |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
Well nemo. I never played the games, so I just loved teambuilding. Too bad.
|
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
This is exactly why the NFL pissed up when they signed the rights only to EA sports where is the incentive to put out a quality product each year when they are the only ones by law that can do it...

Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
This is the first Madden in years that I'm still playing this long after it came out.
|
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
The gameplay, itself, is leaps and bounds over 09.
I do get bored of it. I prefer COD or FIFA(also EA but less frustrating IMO) generally though. |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
Hooskins, I hear FIFA is game of the year. I just ordered Bayonetta but I'm thinking about picking up FIFA too. Any thoughts?

I mean its selling pretty well. I love it personally, but I have always liked FIFA videogames and soccer in general (waiting for the hypernationalists to say its boring and its unAmerican.....). Its a fun game and online is great. I also had FIFA 09 and played 08, so it was easy for me to play 2010 and play it well. It can be frustrating, for me at least, if I am not successful at videogames. If you are a first timer for FIFA, I would suggest read some tutorials online and you will pick it up. It may take a bit, but its fun either way. Online they will match you will someone based on your skill level, and you can play unranked too. Main thing is you need patience, just like Madden I suppose. Cant just turbo down the field and pass to the obvious people. Gotta mix it up. Also defending can be a bit hard. |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
I miss the mini games too. I could draft a QB and improve him big time in just a few seasons....now unless a player has an "A" potential, and has a superstar season every year, he will never make it into the 80's or 90's ratings....i think its sad for people who missed the old mini games.
They were fun too. I really liked the runningback one. The QB one where it shot at you with tennis balls was really fun. |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
The Skins this year have absolutely ruined madden for me.
It makes me sick when I win with the same players and then watch them take the pipe for 4 quarters every Sunday. I can't even play with another team... just sits on the shelf. |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
I'm actually having fun running through seasons with other teams for a change. The way I look at it is Madden '10 is a solid game, I'm not going to let the Skins ruin it for me.

Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
I like bing a Superstar QB and bing traded all over the place. I started in Tampa then got traded to Washington (dream come true) I have 3 SB Rings and I am about to hit the FA market. I Think I want to play somewhere warm and out of the NFC East. Maybe a dome.

Hilarious. :D |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
The only reason that I'm hating it is 1) I don't know all of the controls still (not my system or game) and 2) I treat it more like a video game than a football game
getting frustrated with a few things such as being constantly picked even with wide open receivers.. thought it was me just throwing the ball too hard but they're always way leaping catches, I've only played it a couple of times though online.. I guess precision passing is still in the game so I need to experiment with that also I hate that so many people literally run 15 to 20 yards back and then end up throwing it to their RB.. I don't know my defenses as well as I'd like but this one is frustrating me like crazy I keep losing games like 38-21 or something.. I should try to get a few games a day in to get the basic handle of stuff down, it's really been 2 years since I played with any regularity (3 games a week with the kid bro) and before then.. madden 97 I hate that I call bad plays just based on the moment instead of being smart.. It also seems like the other person knows exactly what run play I'm going to do, no matter what oh well.. I just need to be patient I guess |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
I've been getting my ass kicked pretty regularly since I started playing Madden on 360. I've recently begun to play it on PS3 and seem to be playing much better. I can't figure out if I'm more comfortable with the controls or what. On PS2 I was the shit so that's about all I can come up with.

Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
im still playing madden (but on the ps3) but i mode leap. right now the mode ive been all about is the "ultimate team mode" but i played a franchise game last night due to the fact that you can get a few packs and make your team a 93 ovr (mine) pretty easy. got too easy too quick. but i wasnt sold on albert haynesworths pick up this off season so i dropped him before i started my season then picked him back up when i started my franchise (which is funny cause you can get him for less money when you do that but i wanted to be able to trade him without the $40 million cap penalty (!!!!) so i kinda trade raped the colts....colts 1st and 3rd and Robert Mathis (94 ovr) for Haynesworth. ive done a few trade and im sitting on 4 first round picks...sorry had to trade away JC for a first rounder too...hes inconsistant even in the game lol.

[/B]How can u get a first for JC? |
Re: Anyone else hate Madden '10?
madden 10 is a crappy game. the gameplay is strange, i much prefer ncaa10, just a more fun game to play and develop teams. fifa 10 is also good, and nhl 10 is pretty good as well. but i really think im not buying madden again.

Yeah I'm definitely not a fan of the xbox controllers.. then again I had the playstation back in the day and bought my kid bros a ps2 when it came out, but haven't played that a lot either since I didn't live around there |

i put him up on the trade block for a first and/or a qb over 80 overall...well i was offered a first rounder by 3 teams...the one i ended up trading with was the rams (cause i know they will have an early pick) and i wanted to see if they would take a him for a first and second...they took it i was like ok a first second and third...they didnt take that but i had to trade for a player too since that wouldve put them over their 55 player limit...so i took some junk and released him but got a first and second round pick for him. |

Be patient in the pocket, you do have the ability to move around, you have to first identify the main target, and if that's not open, have two check down plays, one is your RB and TE or RB, FB. 3. About those dropping back 20 yards, two things, find a defense with alot of zone blitzing, once you identify these guys, manuely rush a LB or a DE, around and create mad pressure and then, try to making them throw the ball, with not alot of time. ( works for me). 4. You margin of losing seems to do with alot of frustrations and impatientness, look no matter what the score, stick to the game plan, if your game is running, do that, if it's passing do that. 5. I will guaren-damn-T your running game get's better if you use zone running, pull up screen, and either pinch, move line to L or R or spread them out, us alot of dives and tosses (for fast RB). If you like the running game, make sure your guy gets 20 touches no matter what, and mix in a little PA. The way that I use a measuring stick for getting better is I lab with the worst offense against the leagues best Defense, so if your or connecting with them, you will do great with the team your comfortable with. Hey and if you ever wanna Lab, live hit me up, we can headphone chat, I be more than happy to help you out. PEACE!!!!! |

Thanks for the D advice, I'll try that out. This PS3 isn't mine and I don't know if my roomie has a headset or not, but after I take some time to actually play seriously instead of just a pickup game a couple of times a week lately I'll take you up on that. |

FIFA is definitely worth it. 10 is by far the best in the series. |

I don't spend as much time labbing as I should, but even when I spend a little time with it I notice a big difference in my game. Once you know a play inside and out and have the timing of it down, it makes a huge difference. |
