What has happened to us lately? This used to be a place where Redskins fans could post some intelligent armchair analysis and, in turn, expect to read some agreements and rebuttals-that are well thought out. We're all very passionate redskins fans and we're passionate about several other things as well but the past two weeks it seems like nearly half the posts are personal attacks that do nothing to advance the basic mission of the Warpath-to be a smarter Redskin fan at the end of the day than you were when the day started, heck to be a smarter person. Because the more you know....knowledge is power!

Look, this isn't a contest or a job interview. There are no winners here. We have, as of this posting, 714 people on this site. There is simply no way we're all going to agree on everything. Nor should we. When you post something that can (and should) be debated, back it up and expect to be challenged on it. And if you challenge someone else's post support your argument. If you "support" your argument by questioning the validity of the poster, and not the post, then you really have no reason to post in the first place and shouldn't be wasting anyone's time (including your own).

Look at Daseal, this guy gets ripped on all the time (mainly for one reason-SPURRIER!) and he's been wrong before and he's been right as well but I've never once seen him take it personally or choose to turn posts into childish squabbles. We should learn to behave more like Daseal---did I really just say that ;)

Smack is right, nobody is alway's right, I myself thought I was wrong with one of my post's a while back, only to learn later on that I was right, so I was wrong. :laughing-

I appreciate the kind words, Smoot. But I am guilty of the above offense, and I've been working on changing that. I need to take a bit more time writting my posts and try not to bring any sort of personal attack into anything. Good thread though, we all need to calm down.

We won't agree, and I know that bad times can bring out the heat of the moment.

The reason I started posting on these boards was the INTELLIGENT conversation, great wit and humor, and the fact that the forum had almost NO personal attacks.

maybe its that time of the month... full moon, holidays, reskins at 2-4 and no ray of light for the passing game right now... maybe all the turf gremlins just thought that thewarpath would be a good place to hang...

I try to always argue the post, but once someone insults me, i get much more focused... i'll work on that.

I think that we need denim_monger to post more so that when we feel the need to take out aggression on some one it can be him.lol

Great post SS, worthy of sticking it to the top. I think we all need to read it, in fact some should print it up and stick it in front of their monitors while visiting this site! :laughing-

Seriously though, SS makes some great points. We're here to discuss the Skins, football, and anything else that pops up in other forums. Let's try to keep the personal attacks out of the discussions. Healthy debates are great and what this site is all about, but lately the personal attacks have been on the rise and are becoming a problem.

The last thing I want to do is to start banning people, locking threads and dumb BS like that. That's babysitting in my book and a waste of time and energy. We're all adults, let's start acting like it.

It can't be said enough, we all have our own opinions and nobody is any more right or wrong than anyone else. Debating your opinions is what we're here for, not name calling and childish behavior.

Let's try to keep the discussions intelligent, supported with facts when possible, (good grammar and spelling is always a bonus ;)) and most of all let's keep the personal crap OUT. There's no place for it here and if it continues we'll have no choice but to ban the frequent offenders.

Seriously, it's still a great site and, really, everybody has at one time or another taken a barb too seriously or perhaps gotten too personal with a retort. Remember, it's the internet - it is easy to misconstrue and to be misconstrued. Big giant deep breaths. Although many are well informed, No one here is an "expert" or a genius. Were are all just fans bs'ing.

Finally, remember - When your tossing in your two cents, you are probably overestimating your worth.

And BTW - I would like to quickly say a quick thank you to Matty. As I have been reading the board lately, it seems like Matty has been working on it pretty much full time - And it seems like, most of his work has been dealing w/ the recent rise in sniping in the main forums and trying to do his best as commissioner in the $$ FF league (Dammit Matty why didn't you veto my dumbass Peyton trade - wasn't it obvious I had no clue???).

Matty - You've been working damn hard on the site trying to keep it civil and interesting. Thanks.

Sorry I guess I am a bit guilty to here of this. But I still have never heard Sunra back his point up. Am I wrong to question this? When someone makes a personal attack on you and you ask them to back their statement up with facts is that wrong? I will try to be a better sport but I think the only thing that will help us all is if the Skins start a winning streak, cause that will cure everything. Losing Sucks!!!

I will this opportunity to apologize to Big C for my second post regarding his comment about my views on our chances this weekend. While I will never react well to having my Skins fandom questioned I shouldn't have gotten so uptight about it. The old count to 10 rule of thumb should have been enacted so I could take a chill pill as Big C noted.

No, it's not wrong to ask someone to defend their argument. Just think of it this way though, no one is going to think less of you if you "walk away" from a potentially contentious situation. If you feel there is a persistent problem let one of the moderators know
