14 Year old boy kills parents to avoid doing chores

WTF is this world coming to? I remember having plenty of disagreements with my parents at that age but never EVER did something like this cross my mind!! I would never hit or disrespect my parents in any way let alone even think about killing them! I don't know why kids are becoming so disrespectful nowadays maybe they need to get some good old fashion ass whoopings! but now you can't even touch your kids without getting in some bigass trouble! Some people call me crazy when I say that but it's not like I'm talking about beating your kids, I'm talking about disciplining kids. I don't know if many of you were hit as kids but I sure learned my lesson when I got a good belt to the ass! and I might be wrong but it seems like this kind of stuff didn't happen as much and kids respected their elders a lot more than they do now. I know this case probably has nothing to do with what I'm saying because maybe the kid was just not "all there" mentally but I still wish people weren't so sensitive about hitting their kids the way we use to get disciplined when we were out of line. I don't know maybe It's just me because there's a lot of parents where I work that won't even think about hitting there kids they feel "Time-Outs" are more effective. I guess it might be for some kids but most of these kids have no manners and the parents can't handle them when they bring them into work so I don't see it.

Re: 14 Year old boy kills parents to avoid doing chores

I dont think it is just that. Its gotta be some more issues the kid had with his parents. You just dont kill someone if they ask you to do something once. He must have felt some pressure about many things in the past, insecurities, etc.

I am not justifying it at all, but just saying that there has to be more behind this story. And yes, parents shouldnt be afraid to hit their kids to discipline if needed.

Timeouts arent always effective, you just take away their video games, tv usage, internet, cell phones, for a week, etc. Until you see the change. Of course if that doesnt work, then you can hit. I was slapped across the face as a child if I really stepped outta line. It worked. I think a limited amount of that plus incentive based punishments should work.

Yeah I'm guessing the kid has some serious issues and wasn't simply trying to get out of doing his chores.
After the shootings, police say, Caudle spent the rest of his day watching movies and playing on a computer. The next morning he took his stepfather's truck and drove to school. When questioned, Caudle's teachers told investigators he seemed "happy" that day.
Yeah, this kid clearly has sever issues. A normal person doesn't shoot his parents and then just sit around the same house for the rest of the day.

Should've clarified. Sorry. I think they will probably try him as an adult, and as such, he will receive the death penalty. At his age though, i'm not sure if he can elect a fast-track execution. i know sometimes you can.

Makes me think of Christopher Pittman, who executed his grandparents when he was 12. It was a deliberate murder. He shot them both to death. He was given 30 years in prison...

You are correct. As with Christopher Pittman, they waited until he was 18 to try him.

This i'm sure will be the same way

Done some law work and I highly doubt they'll execute him,.. Ever. Even if they waited till he was 18. Being that he's 14 they're going to say he doesn't have adult capacity of thinking and decision making, even though it's clear he wanted to kill his parents. But it's pretty much just like sexual consent laws; If you're under 16, the law sees you having no idea what you're consenting to/doing.

I see him spending the rest of his time in a juvenile facility till 18 and then being transferred over with the big boys to serve out a life sentence (or 2).

If he was 16 and taking into consideration the how heinous and deliberate the crime was, they would most definitely try him as an adult, no doubt.
Yeah I'm guessing the kid has some serious issues and wasn't simply trying to get out of doing his chores.
He clearly had issues but what I'm shocked at is that what pushed him over the edge to commit such a horrible thing was trying to avoid chores! He had to have some mental issues because I don't see how else you could act like nothing happend after killing your parents. Maybe the parents needed to spend more time with him or he was one of those kids that get made fun of at school so bad that just snap all of a sudden I don't know. There's no way for us to know what went wrong without really knowing anything about his life. Maybe he was just "born evil" because the kid obviously doens't have much of a Conscience. My wife is 2 1/2 months pregnant with our first (After 6 yrs of marriage! :)) and I hope I can instill better values and morals than the parents of this could with him. I'm not blaming it all on the parents because I don't know exactly what happend but the kid is 14 so it just kind of seems to me that he needed more attention I doubt a kid that's capable of this would just snap all of a sudden without any signs of some type of odd behaviors. A kid that would just kill his parents one day to avoid doing chores doesn't sound like a normal kid, there just had to of been some signs that showed he was a disturbed kid.

This kid had obvious severe mental issues and is certainly a sociopath. very sad story.

You lot don't know if the stepfather was molesting him and the mother was complacent about it. If he got molested set the boy free, if not put him down.

Re: 14 Year old boy kills parents to avoid doing chores

Don't necessarily agree with the either "set him free" or "put him down" extremes - but, certainly, let's see if there is more to the story before we judge. It seems to me that there must be something more to this than the original sensationalist news bite.

Maybe I better not bring my 16 yr. old to work at the restaurant tonight.

What an awful story. I'm sure more will come out about this, but barring any drastic abuse/molestation evidence, this kid is a pure sociopath and needs to be locked away for the rest of his life for the safety of anyone who comes in contact with him.

If you do take your 16 yr old to work you better pay him more then min. wage so he/she does not get ticked off at you. I did not forget about coming by your place but this week has been pretty busy.

Honor thy Mother and Thy Father that thou days may be long.............

When it comes to the youth of this modern day society we have far too many children being born to children. No one has ever taught the parents anything and as a result they don't have anything to pass on to their off-springs.

Young girls now-days going to school in the daytime and pushing a baby stroller at night was something totally unheard of when I was a youth. It's fashionable in todays society however, the result is the blind leading the blind.

the fuck?

just chilled at the after doing it and then went into school happy?

kids are fucked up nowadays.. my mom went a bit too far with the physical discipline so I'm mostly against it, but I understand it to an extent, mostly if the kid is younger or not able to understand your communications as well.. I'm not talking red marks, just a quick pop that lets them know that you're in charge

a little drastic haha.. same thing that happened in my house though..

it's funny how the baby boomers say "my parents hit me and I learned" yet there's an astonishing amount of them on mood stabilizing drugs.. that stuff fucks kids up, my sister still deals with those issues since she's now a mom x2, I'm sure it'll be in my mind a lot if I ever have kids, we were never bad kids though.. just had a bad parent I guess

I think that at the age of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers there were also a lot of young marriages and pregnancies, but society has changed a lot. Families aren't as close, there are more everyday stresses, back then you could make an honest living right out of high school and though you might struggle a bit an 18-20 year old man could support his wife and his kid. You just don't see the same things happening anymore.. people having plenty of land and building a small house for their children on it with other family and friends, grandmothers helping raise a lot of children, women staying at home with the kids.

I blame it more on disconnect due to our hectic lives than age.
