Leonard Little? Why
Apparently out of no where we are interested in this guy.. He's got to be in his mid 30's, I know he was pretty good years ago but come on.
Report: Redskins interested in Leonard Little | ProFootballTalk.com |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
No way. Ugh. He should be on a prison team somewhere.
Thankfully it is a PFT.com story, so it won't happen. |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
As a situational pass rusher he might have something left. If the price is right...
|
Re: Leonard Little? Why
Why? like the article says, little knows hasletts D.
when we have coord or HC changes, i have no problem with the new coach or coord bringing in 1 or 2 older vet guys who know his system to help teach and make the transition smoother. obviously little would be replacing daniels or wynn, whom i really value as locker room vets and leaders. but id be willing to part with wynn in exchange for little and his knowledge of haslett's schemes. either way, im guessin little would come on the cheap and just replace wynn or daniels contract. |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
Dude should be in jail. End of story.
You would think that POS woud have learned his lesson after killing someone, but no.... |

Re: Leonard Little? Why
We have plenty of needs along with OL. It's not an either/or situation.
|
Re: Leonard Little? Why
EVERYONE had the Shanahan story going for a long time. Maybe we should also pick up Dante Stallworth and they can talk about all the things they have in common. i kid i kid. If the price wasnt too high. But we def need 3-4 ends. Carter isnt a 3-4 DE so we move Haynesworth to his spot, then we are gonna need a NT, possibly draft since 49ers franchised theirs. and then the other DE would either keep daniels or use little. Only benefit to little is he knows the system. But dont know if thats enough to warrant him more money
|
Re: Leonard Little? Why
Considering how thin we're going to be at the DE position he could be of some value as a specialist. There may be no Wynn, Daniels (maybe) Andre Carter perhaps moving to OLB, Jeremy Jarmon coming back from injury and all of a suden the position does not look quite as strong anymore. That does not mean however that Little is the answer, but he could provide depth.
We have plenty of needs along with OL. It's not an either/or situation.
Exactly. Everyone needs to break the habit of thinking within the confines of a salary cap where our moves are constrained. The only thing that matters now is whether a free agent represents an upgrade over current players, taking into account the opportunity to groom other promising players for future roles. I don't know if Leonard Little is the greatest option in the world, but in a year where we're making major transitions in terms of scheme, we should be making every possible move to upgrade the roster. The smart thing is to turn over 50% of the roster. There's nothing stopping us from doing so, might as well get the guys you want while you can. After all, continuity is not an issue this year, we already know we won't have any of it. Might as well set ourselves up now and try to keep the new core together for the future. |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
Or maybe he ends up our new starting DE for our regular 4-3 D and keep Orakpo at LB. Why do people here keep saying we will go to a 3-4?.
We herd" the if's and maybe and should" but we have yet to hear that Jim saying we would go to a 3-4. He said we could be successful in both schemes which means it wouldn't matter what he picks. He hasn't used an all 3-4 D since his days with the Steelers Why do people keep saying a 3-4. He probably feels Little could be a good situational DE in a 4-3 D or a starter to replace Daniels, who did nothing. Lets stop assuming that we will go all 3-4. We don't have a real DE other than Carter and Orakpo but maybe we feel Orakpo 11 sacks at LB shows how good he can be and better than any LB coming in free agency to replace him . Basically what I'm trying to say is maybe we are sticking at 4-3 for right now and we don't have a good DE other than Carter. Maybe haslett feels Orakpo is really good at LB and no other LB in free agency will be as good as Orakpo right now . Joey Porter is an A-hoe and he won't want a rematch with Levi Jones. Dansby will cost way to much . Every other LB will cause a round pick. Only good LB that would make sense that could be cheap is Adailous Thomas. So maybe this is why we want Little so alot doesn't change but we could let Leo Little and Jermon Jarmon battle it out at the DE postion. Why would we give up a 3rd for Jarmon if we won't use him at all if we go 3-4?. |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
There has been no official word on changing to the 3-4, but it's safe to assume based on Haslett's past that at the very least we'll see some 3-4 looks from the D this year.

Re: Leonard Little? Why
^Jason Taylor anyone?
(thats what getting LL would be like, again) |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
^Jason Taylor anyone?
(thats what getting LL would be like, again)
Except LL is an unrestricted free agent so we won't have to give up picks to get him. That's a big difference. |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
^Jason Taylor anyone?
(thats what getting LL would be like, again)
The only thing Jason Taylor ever killed was our salary cap. We've always stayed away from the extreme problem individuals and I see no reason that should change. He's not a great talent that we can't find elsewhere for the same price, so why bring in a legitimate murderer? Lets not become Dallas. |

More of a hybrid of both. But we can't go 3-4 with these things to worry about. -Andre Carter was horrible at being an OLB. He just had his best career at DE and is at his best with his hand on the dirt. -Albert Haynesworth( does not wan't to be an full time DE).We don't wanna anger a top 3 DT who is still the best today at that position. -We have no NT and won't be any in free agency. Even if we did what happens if our staring NT gets injured .... -London Flecther doesn't wanna do a 3-4 I hear.( I think)or fits as one. -New defensive scheme all around. Takes atleast a year to produce. -No other ILB to help out Flecther right now. I don't see us going 3-4. I see the Leo Little tho a campaign guy to replace Phillip Daniels or become good depth on good pass rushing downs. I don't see why we should go 3-4 out of a sudden but I do see some hybrid of it. This overall should be the best defense Haslett ever had. I wouldn't mind seeing Jason Taylor come back on pass rushing downs either. I was a big fan of his . |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
You can play AH at any spot on a 3-4 front.
Fletcher has already said he's down with a 3-4 if the team goes to it. Fredericksburg.com - London Fletcher on the 3-4 defense|Rich Campbell "I can play in whatever defense," he said. "I feel comfortable in a 4-3, obviously. I feel comfortable in a 3-4. Whatever they want to do." |

Re: Leonard Little? Why
First of all, this isn't a PFT story, as in PFT didn't break any news here. All they did was link to another article.
Secondly, I think Little is very talented Third, he should be thanking Paul Tagliabue everyday because if he had pulled that DUI homicide followed by DUI again under Goodell's watch there's no way he'd even be anywhere near a football field And finally, just because Haslett told someone Little could still be productive is not the same as Redskins are interested in Little. |
Re: Leonard Little? Why
NT= Vince Wilfork possible free agent.
LL next to AH could revitilize his love for the game. Richard Seymore would also be a nice option to bring to DC if he hits the market. |

It would be a dream come true for him to come if we did go 3-4 but if we stayed 4-3 imagine him and Albert Haynesworth. LL-Only depending if its a 4-3 than I would agree, |
Why do people here keep saying we will go to a 3-4?.
QUOTE] bruce allen said in the redskins address a few weeks ago in response to a question about possibly switching to the 3-4 . . . he said they were going to run the "skins defense" with a tone that sounded like he had a smile on his face. he also said he wasnt going to give other teams a heads up on what they were planning D scheme wise. he said more than what i put here, and he left it a bit vague on purpose but reading btw the lines it sure sounded like we are going to be running a hybrid defense if not a more 3-4 heavy hybrid. |

Sure why not? His ex-coordinator doesn't seem to think it would be a problem. Redskins Insider - Where will Haynesworth fit in Haslett's defense? |

I don't mind Leonardo Little coming here for pass rushing downs. If used right our D will be deadly because at times our pass rush was inconsistant. With a very aggressive DC like Haslett than expect us to blitz and use all sorts of type of things on our DL. I dont care about Little pass death thing. This isn't a area of friendship or community this is about winning football games. Joey Porter F up Levi Jones but it didn't stop the Dolphins having a very good LB in him. |

Sometimes your gonna have to pick up a guy who will help you win some SB's. Unless Little killed the girl on purpose than I wouldn't want him. But his skills are still useful if healthy. But its just me....I'm not that preist for us to get this guy. |

change of scenary could be good for LL. Or Albert and he will be drinking buddies in the Reston town center LOL

True. Maybe I would want Little is when healthy and I guess used right he'll pass rush the QB pretty we'll enough to force throws into our coverage. It's just me tho. Think it would be smart to start Jarmon Jermon if anything. |

Re: Leonard Little? Why
Little realistically won't help us much, maybe 3-4 sacks at most next season. I'm all for getting Dansby because he's a stud.. I'm ready for the draft so we can get the QB of our future (Bradford) and then work on the other needs on this team. F FA I'm tired of Free Agents coming here every yr and not playing up to expectations. Fletch and AH are the only one's who panned out.
|
Re: Leonard Little? Why
I dont even care how he is as a player... as a person, I do not want to have to root for him... its not even the drunk driving incident where he killed the woman that really bothers me... its the fact that he got ANOTHER DUI after the fact... stay far far away.
