The Redskins have lost its greatest fan.
I know I don't post much on the board but visit often and love all the information I get here.
I just wanted to let everyone know my dad, S. Wayne Stump of Roanoke Va. passed away on 3/3/10 after a short a bout with cancer. He was 80 years old. He was a huge Redskins fan and his basment with all his memorabilia was called "Wayne's Wigwam". He taught me how to cheer them on as well as how to let loose a curse laden tirade. He bled burgundy and gold and anyone who knew him misses him. He was laid to rest with the 3 Super Bowl pendants he gave me a few years ago. Sundays won't be the same for me any more. A true fan to the end....he asked a few hours before he died "Andy, did Washington win today?" I said "yes dad, they kicked the Cowboy's ass. He smiled. Rest in peace dad. |

Re: The Redskins have lost its greatest fan.
I live in Roanoke & I just read your dad's obit in the R. Times. Sounds like he led a great life of service to his country & community. I don't know anyone right off hand that knew him, but if I asked a few people I could probably find someone that did.
Sorry for your loss. Always carry on the B & G tradition for him! |
Sorry for your loss.
Thank you for posting, I'm embarrassed to say I need a real world reminder from time to time to make me appreciate my dad more. Great guy and awesome father but he drives me nuts some times![/QUOTE] I know EXACTLY how you feel jamf. :) I guess a lot of us need to be reminded not to take our parents for granted sometimes. My mother has Alzheimers and I miss her so much. Those who have someone close to them who have been stricken with it will know what I mean. It makes me a little more patient and forgiving towards my dad who I haven't always had the best relationship with. Love them and show them how much while they're alive to enjoy it. They'll feel better and you will too. It sounds like you had a great relationship with your Dad LBrown43. I think that's awesome. |
Re: The Redskins have lost its greatest fan.
May he rest in peace. I like to believe he has front row seats for the games in heaven!
