mel has charles brown dropping, todd does not
Go Mel! |
Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
This was almost a combined effort, at least until it clearly became two separate efforts.

Yeah I had a bit of trouble wrapping my head around why there were 2 lists. |
Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
Yea I have no idea why they said combined. They are definetly split on Clausen. Todd didn't even have him on his Big Board in the first round the other day. Now he does.

I think that Todd was projecting his own thoughts of the player into that listing. |
Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
Yeah he was. I'm just referring to the Big Board they each had and Clausen was ahead of Bradford on Mels and Todd didn't even have Clausen on the Big Board. Kind of interesting how now how they each have Bradford #1 and Clausen in the first round.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rams are working on a contract with Bradford as we speak. Mcshay and Kiper probably have insider info on this. P.S. Pure speculation on my part based on Mel, Todd, P.T.I., and other talking heads all pointing in that direction. |
Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
Rams are dumb to draft Bradford unless they don't plan on starting him right away. He is gonna get killed behind that weak line and he really doesn't have any weapons to throw to. If he is indeed at all fragile, his career will be short lived at best. Dumb move. They should go with Suh.

Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
43 days and counting, really can't come soon enough

I really think we are gonna drop down.

You mean the line with two first round picks? Noooooo. |

Does 3.0 mean their third rendition

Yes they both have done 2 mock drafts previous to this one. Hence 3.0 |

I don't think we can go wrong if we draft draft Okung, Suh, McCoy (DT), or Bradford at #4. I think the least risk of being a bust/immediate impact is in that same order. If we don't take one of the 4 players aforementioned, or best OT available, I will be shocked. I seriously hope for a trade down before we would reach on Clausen at #4. (Per Kiper's mock) |
Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
How about this...we draft Clausen and I'll personally throw a cream pie at whoever announces the draft day pick.

LOL! Yes, I do drink watching the draft. It's become a tradition, the fellas get together and kind of make it a "guys" night. Or day in the past. |

I really hope we trade down.

Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
Jimmy Clausen at #4. Ha!
Mel needs to rethink that one. Clausen is a major reach at #4. I see Bradford, Suh, McCoy, Okung and Eric Berry as the top 5 in some kind of order. They are cant miss talent although Bradford might take longer to develop and succeed due to his position. |
Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
I wonder if Davis' stock will drop because of this...

What makes Bradford so much better? I've put my Clausen argument out there. What in your minds makes Bradford a "can't miss", but Clausen a "major reach"? And the Emu/douche/got punched in the face/he's gay/I hate ND arguments don't count.
I sight all of these reasons for Bradford over Clausen, as well as maturity and leadership issues. Also, Mr. Clausen has the honor of being the first Notre Dame quarterback to lose to the Naval Academy in 42 years, he did it twice. I watched plenty of his games over the last three years. Clausen was rather unimpressive until this year, in fact he was benched several times his first 2 seasons at ND. I will admit that he did have a great improvement this season. That doesn't make me want him, ESPECIALLY at #4. Ok, you probably want me to quote some stats:an impressive 28-4 td-int ratio senior year, you don't want me to quote the rest. Bradford 36-8 FRESHMAN, 50-8 sophmore. I'm sorry I just get a feeling about these two, one good, and one, ehh just don't really feel it for him... |

Not good. I'd like to see us go the route of '81 and draft O line and find some late round gems. |

Man I hate Notre Dame. Other then that Bradford is more accurate as well as taller, but to be honest I don't know if there really is THAT much difference. Of course who knows what this front office will do at this point. |

And the Emu/douche/got punched in the face/he's gay/I hate ND arguments don't count.
I am not slamming Clausen, I just don't think he is currently worthy of the #4 pick in draft. Clausen is a very good QB who had great individual stats in 2008 and 2009, but his teams did not always do well. So that has hurt him a bit. I think Clausen never beat a top 5 Nationally ranked team in all his years at south bend. To be fair to Clausen, his Notre Dame teams were not very good team. But I would have liked to have seen Clausen beat a powerhouse SEC defense. There is no film of that. Bradford had such a great (red shirt) freshman and sophomore seasons. As we all have heard Bradford most likely would have been the #1 pick if he had come out after his sophomore season. But he stayed and got hurt twice. Clausen could some day be the best pro of the two. But right now he has not fully demonstrated that on the field against top teams. so that gives Bradford a slight edge at this point. Clausen is a little on the skinny side. His arms are kind of small for a big time NFL player. It would be good if he spent some more time in the weight room, but that is not a big deal. |

I think Clausen was injured for that one. Not that it would have changed much. |

And second if he was a Notre Dame QB that spent most of his time in the weight room as opposed to the film room he'd be Brady Quinn. |

I think he'll take a year longer than Clausen due to his adjustment from being in a spread and from having superior talent around him. I like his measurables, good Wonderlic, not really worried about his shoulder. What concerns me about Bradford is he was throwing to wide open receivers a lot, had a ton of time to throw, and had a great D. While none of these are a negative on him, it's hard to gauge how much of his success was truly his performance or was his performance a product of the system and team around him. Also, Stoops' QBs traditionally have put up very good college numbers but not had NFL success. I think this is a moot point because Bradford will likely be gone at # 1, but if Clausen was gone and Bradford/Okung are at available #4, I take Okung. If I can trade down from #4 and get Bradford in the 11-16 range I wouldn't have a problem with that. On a side note, SkinnyTee has the Skins in our Mock Draft, so I don't think you guys need to worry about Clausen getting picked at #4 there. |
Re: Mel/Todd Mock Draft 3.0
Why do people downgrade Clausen cause his teams didn't win? I think that's a terrible way to judge the guy. Did Clausen play defense for ND?????? He's was a damn good college QB. I'm just not sure I'd draft him at #4.
