I would have preferred W. Parker but I guess LJ will do.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson

I like the move, mostly because I like the signing of players whose downside is right out there in the open for all to see. There's no hidden skeletons or performance failures in his closet. He's a character concern with a majorly declining skill set.

If the Redskins can make that work in the scheme, there's nothing but upside here.

Length of contract is a bit concerning (3 years), but that's the only part I dislike. For the reasons above, he's a much stronger choice than Tomlinson, Thomas Jones, Parker, Chester Taylor et al.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson

Very mixed feelings about this, but when he's good (on the field) he's really good.

So two former Chiefs signed.

When I think building a winner...I think 2009 Kansas City Chiefs roster :)

I can't think of a troubled player that still had issue by the time they reached their third team.

I like it for the short term. When Larry is on..he is really on. I think he'll fit in nicely giving Portis less carries and hopefully if we make the playoffs they will both be fresh and healthy. And with Portis he never really seems to play all 16 games anyway. He was a Redskin fan growing up. he really wanted to sign here and respects Shanny, so I think he'll work out just fine.

As long as he stays out of trouble and produces on the field, I'm ok with it. I've always been a fan of LJ....

So can we pretty much say good bye to willie parker?

Wow. Not sure how I fell about this.
One good side, we finally have a big back. How long has it been since we have had one? Gerald Riggs?

And there was TJ Duckett. Not that anyone deserves to be reminded of that.

i was at the chiefs game last season. to say that L.J was dis- interested would be putting it mildly. don't like adding bad seeds to the redskins

Dude grew a 'Skins fan. Let's hope that means motivation to put an all-out effort on the field.
He's a pretty good receiver out of the backfield too.

Time will tell, what are his Specs. I guess we need a bruiser. CP, LJ & AA not bad i guess would of liked FWP better.

5OO Yds at best next season. Good quality backup but way past his prime. I'd rather have had LT but I guess he wanted more $

lol. CP won't go over 800 and LJ will have to take the job because CP gets shelved on IR.

lolLT. Dude's a "dead" RB if there is one. LJ has 5000 less carries. It's just that he's a bit of violent knucklehead...which leads to suspensions.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson

hooray for the FO. Another diva, declining, problem child RB with off the field issues. But hey, he was a redskin fan, so all will be fine.

We already had a back that couldnt run outside the tackles anymore. We didnt need one more. I might have to change my sig. Thats what bothers me.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson

This is the first signing I'm really not OK with... and about 99% of my feelings are about how he is off the field...

Anyone who has been arrested for hitting women before shouldn't even be in the league and quite honestly, I'm embarrassed that I'll end up cheering for that guy next season. I really hope London Fletcher knocks this piece of trash through a wall during training camp. I'll deal with Clinton Portis' pre-madona BS all day long... but when it comes to off the field incidnets like this, it really strikes a nerve with me.

If we had some good receivers prior to the 2008 draft, we may have been able to take Felix Jones.

Portis would have cried though.

Worthless, worthless, signing. We could get a young hungry player rather than this past-prime dude. I really hope i eat my words but there is no way in heck i would have signed this guy. I just dont see the upside.

SOMEONE PLEASE CLARIFY IT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, the fact he really wanted to play here matters, being a lifelong Redskin fan may give him extra incentive. Should work well for the short term providing he and Portis can remain healthy. We still could look to get younger in the draft.

Yeah I hear you. I mean we of course don't know who else is doing what off the field that we just don't hear about. So for all we know we're already cheering for these type of people.

Anyhow, as we've talked about before Shanahan is well known for making at least a couple of "I can't believe he just did that moves" seemingly every year. Whether it's Maurice Clarett...or Larry Johnson

I would have rather had LT because he's a leader and puts Football first. Don't start jocking LJ just because he's a skin now. We were all dogging him when he threw his Bitch fit the last 2 yrs in KC. And as far as Cp goes he's a way better back than LJ, Portis actually blocks and can Pass Catch aswell.

Oh absolutely...but if I don't know about it.. it doesn't take the fun out of it. Kinda of what I don't know, wont hurt me type of thing... Its really the thing with women that bothers me, so that type of "offense" I just look at differently than other things.

Re: Redskins Sign Larry Johnson

On an additional note, I love how noone questions these moves, or lack thereof. I do hope people recall that Shanahan was borderline as a coach his last two seasons in Denver, and one might say the last 3 seasons. Sub 500 record the last 36 games. If he didnt inherit our defense, Id really be concerned this year as well. Anyone realize that he was ranked 30th and 28th in 2008 and 2007 in defensive pts allowed, respectively? And this team does not have the offense to offset that type of point differential, and what is being done to avoid that?? Larry Johnson and a career backup guard that wouldnt even get a starting spot on 90% of teams? Come on now, this has to make some fans in Redskin Nation a little uneasy.

Would you rather have Betts or Johnson as your backup? Both are the same age, the edge goes to Johnson for what he has achieved in the past and the fact that he's coming home to play for his childhood beloved team.

It would have been better if you had mentioned Ron Dayne. :)
