2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
We are all waiting for any type of news right about now and its been very slow compared to seasons past, so the other day I seen an old episode of Dallas on Hard Knocks and then I started to wonder about us on the show so here is my question? How do you feel about the Skins being this years team for the Hard Knocks season?
We have alot going on with the New Regime in place. The positions all in the air from QB, RB, TE, WR, O-Line. Our Defense, will it be a 4-3 or 3-4 and what players will fit where? All of our big name players on the roster and their personalities. Dan Snyder and his infamous past decade. We are the most profitable team in the league. We have signed huge contracts for big names and have gotten shitty play from most of those player. We also have some players now on the roster with huge upside, are they being coached up or are we in for another year of Snyder ball? Another high profile Coach and GM with big promises about change or will it turn out to be the same ole' same ole'. Wouldn't it be nice to see, how our coaches are doing with our talent and if the pre-madonas have changes their ways. With that said I feel that it could easily be the best year ever for HBO. But then I question will it give all our secrets away. It would be nice to see how things are being run and who is practicing and who is attached to D.Snyder hip, and has D.S. really let go control of day to day operations. The teams on the show make the playoffs that season so it kind of like the reverse Madden curse. What are your thoughts on the idea of The Redskins being on the show. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
I'll be the first to say I always watch Hard Knocks on HBO. I think it's a great show. That said, I don't want any part of it for the Redskins. I think it's a distraction. With a new GM, new coach, and new culture, I don't think having Hard Knocks around Ashburn during camp will do anything positive for us. I'm pretty sure Bruce Allen would agree.

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
QB, RB, TE, and WR are all up in the air? Since when? If you don't know whose gonna be the starters for the Redskins you better ask somebody!

Up in the air= The Coaches haven't set in stone who will be starting and who will be here. It is still early so calm down Tiger. QB- We might draft a QB this year, also with all the drama of trading J.C. and trying to move up in the draft last year. I will say up in the air. RB- We have to wait and see on who wants it more. CP was a flop last year and we have questionable Larry Johnson. TE- CC47 I love the guy, but there are times on the Warpath that there are folks asking about trading him because of F.Davis performance last year. F.Davis he hasn't secured a spot yet, but there are some that think CC47 is replaceable which he is not, atleast not in this years draft. WR- Well we both know there is a dilemma here, who will line up where? S.M89, M.KELLY, M.Mitchell, D.Thomas, should be a our starters but we all as skins fans are unsure if they can step up and be, the go to guy. Well since you seem to you have inside info on who will be our starters, would you care to share? Im just asking on my fellow warpathers opinion on how they would feel about us being on HBO's show. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
I thought it was going to be the Texans this year? And if not them, the Jets

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
I've never watched the show honestly.

You are missing out on some great television then.. The behind the scenes stuff with the coaches evaluations, seeing the position coaches dealing with their players, watching the underdog players trying to make the team-good stuff. Vince Lombardi is legendary for wanting the NFL Films cameras around because he felt like it made his players work harder and his coaches work harder as well because they knew that everything would be on film and broadcast. I'm not an advocate for 2010 since we're going into our 1st Shana-camp but I wouldn't be opposed in the future. |

WR seems pretty set but I agree that it isn't definitive who the starters for the other positions will be. What if Davis beats out Cooley in camp? I wouldn't say that is impossible. What if Grossman tears it up? The coaches don't have favorites. The best players will start regardless of how much the fans like them or how much they are paid....finally. |

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Great show but let it be someone else's distraction. Doesn't seem like Bruce Allen's style any way, or Shanahan for that matter.

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
The Redskins are among the most difficult, if not the most difficult pro football franchise for the media to work with. They are very, very protective and secretive. I can't see it happening
|
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
If it was going to happen it probably would have happened years ago, perhaps when Spurrier was here or something.

Danny didn't want them seeing him on the sidelines during practice haha j/k We've always kind of been that way right? At least since George Allen. |

Ditto. I really wouldn't want the distractions for the team...especially for Portis...he'd be the most distracted I bet. If we still had Smoot and ARE...it would be a circus. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Honestly it's a great show guys, gives you a pretty good peek behind the curtain
|
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
I could see the Jets getting the gig, the media loves Ryan.
|
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
The Jets would be a fun team to watch

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
You know I just love the way that so many of you talk about how Hard Knocks would be a distraction but I've never seen anyone voice displeasure with any local or even national coverage of the team. Do you have a problem with fans at training camp as well?
I would have not one problem with Hard Knocks being about the Redskins. Then I'd have even more Redskins stuff to look at. I can still remember when the Cowboys had it and they showed how at the end of camp Dave Campo had a pig wearing a Redskins jersey playing in the mud while the team laughed and cheered. That show is very good by the way. |

If GMScud invites me to dinner with his fiancee one night, that's not the same as me moving in with Scud and his fiancee for a month |

You don't think Portis would put on a show for the camera? Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Filming what is basically a reality show is definitely different than local/national coverage.

The point is that it can still be a distraction, maybe not on the same scale but at the same time it can be but it isn't questioned. You run your practice the way you would anyother time. Are the fans screaming on Sundays distractions ? Hell yeah but you accept it. NFL Films goes out to training camps as well but do we wonder about what those occurences could cause ? No, because we don't know about all of those. If it was that much of a hinderence to a team getting the job done it wouldn't have lasted this long. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Matty, Smoot, and Buster I understand what you all are saying about the differnces between Channels 4,5,7,9 and ESPN, CSN, NFL Network or whoever else comes to cover the team during training camp as opposed to HBO but could it really be that bad ?
As far as Portis putting on a show ? Why would that be a problem ? He's put on a hell of a show on the field as a Redskin and I wouldn't mind seeing him on HBO. Maybe I could learn something about Bumber 17 that could let me see him the way that many of you see him. And you all talk about how I give Jason Campbell the blues ? Geez, I guess it's only the Friends of Danny who suffer huh ? I'm just a glutton for Redskins coverage of any kind. I guess that's why I don't have a problem with it. Well I'm just saying that I think it would be cool to have Hard Knocks covering the Skins. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Why do you think some teams refuse to do it?
After the Ravens did it I recall some players commenting that looking back, yeah it was probably a distraction they didn't need. |

I mean, it's not like the secret 100% concentration game has worked since 1993. Buuuuut, I understand that there is no reason to add an extra distraction. |
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
Go to Dallas again!!! Give them a nice distraction.
|
Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
I would love to see the Skins on there. The Bengals didn't seem to suffer too much last season, huh? Also, I hated Ochocinco, but after watching him on Hard Knocks, I think he is a cool dude and see him in a much better light.
CHILD PLEASE!!! |

Re: 2010 HBO Hard Knocks?
I'd love to see it, but worry that some information would be seen by other teams that would help them game plan around us. I've watched bits and pieces of the show cause usually I don't care about the team they are showing.
I think it would make for a cinderella story to have HBO do a show and then we win a SB. It would be nice to purchase the whole video package and just watch it all the time, but that happening is almost nill. We will be lucky to get to 8-8 this coming season or better. I'm not saying it can't happen cause I'm banking on a 9-7 season simply cause I know we have talent on the team but not utilized correctly. Plus I think Zorn was way over his head and didn't have a clue. My homerism says we could go all the way but the little voice inside my head says 9-7 and maybe make the playoffs. |
