re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
not sure there is much to see here. we all know he is a hard worker, a winner, but i dont see us taking a project QB. for me, draft wise, its go big or go home when it comes to QB. either take a top guy (bradford/clausen) in the first, or let it go.

re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I am an unabashed Tebow fan. I guess I could stand it if the Skins took him as high as the second round - that is, after they select Okung in the first round.
Tebow has the physical tools and the ability to learn fast. He's very coachable, and he has a very strong work ethic. As risky a pick as he might be, his upside is sky-high. I think he'll become an NFL QB in time. In 2010, JC starting, Grossman as backup, and Tebow being developed? We'll see. I'd say that Cleveland might be a good guess as the place he lands because they have 11 draft picks. Somewhere in the South would be ideal for him because of his huge following there. |

That would have been best in a private message. =) With only 5 picks I don't think we have the luxury of drafting Tebow, though something in my gut tells this guy is going to be good. |

I'm always chill brother. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I really think the most likely scenario is Okung at #4 and a QB in the 2nd round, so it's natural that the Skins are doing their homework on Tebow. Still don't think we would take him, but it doesn't hurt to work him out.
|
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I think it would be crazy to not at least check him out. Doesn't cost us anything.

re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I wouldn't be opposed to Tebow in the 2nd, though it's certainly not ideal for us w/only 5 picks (at this time anyway). If any deals are made that land more picks I think it's more likely. Also consider the good point that Smoot has made a few times; Shanny will make a wildcard move that no one sees coming. He's done it in the past anyway.
I could see Shanny convincing everyone that Tebow will be a star in the nfl. |

It is a beautiful day! Right now, on Kent Island it is sunny and 60 degrees. There isn't a cloud in the sky. It's supposed to get to 68 degrees today. My wife and I have already reserved a cottage for our vacation in South Nags Head this summer. We may come down twice. Have a good trip today! To meet minimum thread requirements: Tebow. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I think if the draft were held today, we take Okung at four and a QB at 37 in round two (McCoy or Tebow).

If the Skins acquire more draft picks, then I think that taking Tebow with a high second round pick as a developmental QB would be more palatable for most fans. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
This will be one of a couple of dozen private workouts the Redskins will hold, so we don't need to get carried away.
That said, if Tebow is there when we pick in the 4th I'd consider him...slightly |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Whats the big risk other then a 2nd round pick. Heck JC is still a project after how many years.
|
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Tebow is a 4th-5th rounder at best, there is no way we should waste a higher round pick on a QB that isnt ready to battle for a starting spot...Tebow is a project similar to Colt Brennan.

Taking Tebow anywhere near the second round would not be palatable for this fan. Tebow has a very good chance of not making it as a pro QB and, if he is to become an H-back, H-back is not a big need for us. |

Guess it depends on your definition of project. JC wouldn't fall under most people's definition of that. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I dont mind it...when it comes to the "dreaded intangibles" he is the total package, what you want in a player. Give him a look, doesnt hurt.
|
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I see him going to the Pats. they have the 3 number 2's to do it.

Damm we could have 6 number 2's and i still wouldn't take him in the 2nd round we've got bigger holes to fill. He is worth bringing in for a workout it don't cost us anything. |

Skins arent the Pats either.. Pats are in a better situation and have that luxury of taking a project player in the 2nd so that be sure that they land him. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I like Tebow. If we took Okung with the 4th, I wouldn't be pissed with Tebow in the 2nd round. I'd rather have White Bettis. Mark my words, this draft is going to play out a lot differently than I, and a lot of people on the board envision it to.

JC wouldn't fall under most people's definition of that.
JC was drafted to be a starting QB. He became a project. Now, he's pretty much a failure/journeyman at best. |

He can't be a journeyman since no one else seems to want him. :) |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
tebow with our high 2nd rounder? really? i'd rather be the team that gets him 4-5 years from now instead of the one to invest a draft pick, time and resources trying to develop him.
i wouldnt pick him until the 5th round if at all. |

very good point. so right now, campbell is a failure/wannabe journeyman. he should print business cards. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Showing a lot of interest in Tebow (and McCoy for that matter) could be an ideal smoke screen. If he's there w/our pick in the 2nd & teams believe we may take him that could open up a trade possibility for more picks.
I think it would be crazy to not at least check him out. Doesn't cost us anything.
Actually we only get something like 30 private workouts so technically there is some cost. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Well hell, even if he's not QB material, he'd be a heck of H-back/TE/RB/whatever, and is locker-room friendly.
|
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I think its most likely that we trade up into the late first round to get him if we really like him. We'd probably throw in next years fourth and swap this years fourths or something like that. If we get Okung with the 4 and Tebow later, that could be good. Okung will have time to develop and will be solid in a few years when Tebow is ready to take the reigns. I do not thing that Tebow is that naturally talented at the QB position, but with his amazing work ethic I'm confident he can turn into a player about as good as Rothlesberger. A guy that a team can rally around and a guy that can get the job done, but not the best out there. I hate to say it cause I really dont like the guy, and was against him for so long, but after watching his pro day, I would not mind if Tebow became a Redskin. But honestly I'd bet that someone will take him before we have the chance.
|
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
I definitely wouldn't trade up for Tebow.

re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
This draft is going to be fun. Nobody knows what the hell is going on?!

re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Tebow intrigues me. I hated Florida and Tebow because they were good. They drove me nuts. But Tebow is a strong guy that is tough to bring down...a lot like Roethlisbuger. If Tebow develops the ability to read NFL defenses successfully and overcomes the hurdles of transitioning to the pro game, he would have a ton of upside. One of few things I hold against Clausen and Bradford is they are kind of skinny and in the case of Bradford, injury prone.
I would not be upset if the Skins take Tebow. Just a hunch that he will work extra hard to become a good pro. Tebow seems well liked by his teammates and appears to be a good leader. Yes, Tebow will take a year or two to possibly/maybe be great in the NFL. The Redskins are not going to the Sb next year. Our team is two to three years away from possibly being a Sb contender. Given these facts, arguing that that any rookie QB we take has to be NFL ready for 2010-2011 season is pointless and not realistic regardless of which QB we take, especially with the OLine issues we have. |

Bradford has bulked up to 236 pounds. Clausen is around 220 which isn't exactly skinny for a QB. Though I agree Tebow probably has the best frame to handle a beating at the pro level. |
re: Updated: Redskins to hold private workouts with Tebow and Bradford
Redskins will hold a private workout with Bradford the 15th of April according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
