Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Just reported on Sirius NFL Radio by Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan. Haven't seen any confirmation yet...
|
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Wow.
That is big news for our division. Maybe Vick starts again. And good news for those wanting Bradford. |
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Bombshell. This changes things big time!
Could Bradford be in the mix? |

re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Umm...nothing from the other sports news outlets yet...SmootSmack, do you know anything?
|
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Gotta stress the rumor portion, hasn't been confirmed. Can't find it anywhere on the net. But this could really help us get to Bradford...
|
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
fuckin great news.....that was a huge mistake by Philly
|
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I wonder if St Louis ever had any interest in Campbell. They could have got him for at least a round later I'm sure and that 2nd or 3rd round pick would have been nice. As far as the top picks are concerned I'm sure its still just as confusing whos picking who.
|
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Eagles message boards are lighting up about it... I'm curious to see what Smootsmack says, I'm not believing it until i hear it from multiple sources or he confirms it.
|
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I don't see any sources yet. That's crazy news, and probably means that we draft Bradford (?). I'm hopeful that's great news for us -- hopefully his shoulder works again and he's our franchise QB.
Then again, could just be a rumor.. |

re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Why would KC want McNabb? Has Bradford's stock dropped before his workout? This just doesn't make sense.

This would be huge.

re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
This looks like a recycled rumor from about a week ago.

I second that. |
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Make sense so, Spago could take Suh and have his defensive darling.

re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
The Philadelphia Daily News reports the Eagles, indeed, have an offer on the table that would send Donovan McNabb to the Rams in exchange for the No. 33 overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.
According to Eagles beat writer Jeff McLane, McNabb "could be in a Rams uniform by the end of the day, possibly by the end of the week." An NFL source says the deal is "not yet completed," but McNabb has OK'd the trade if St. Louis extends his contract. He is not willing to play in Buffalo or Oakland. re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Ok if it's true it would be great fo McNabb way under appriciated in philly, great for Stl.. just got a proved QB and now owuld use that #1 pick in Suh (I hope) and great for Philly they get almost a 1st round pick for a guy on his last year in the contract and move on to the future with Kobb....
This trade just sucks for the rest of the NFC EAST |
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
If true this means that the Rams aren't 1000% sold on Bradford's shoulder and they are definitely trying to make a playoff run sooner rather than later.
And the possibility of Bradford falling to us just increased, but it still doesn't mean we'll draft him. |

re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I don't like this for 2 reasons:
1) I always prefer players to stay w/their teams, even teams I hate 2) I would rather let the Rams take Bradford & we take a qb in the 2nd or later, or next year if we must. |
re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
On Tuesday, there was an interesting rumor that started with a tweet from the Houston Chronicle's John McClain; namely, that the Philadelphia Eagles were committed to Kevin Kolb, and if the right offer came in for Donovan McNabb, they were ready to go with Kolb as their main man.
Turns out, those offers might be coming in. Ashley Fox of the Philadelphia Inquirer quoted Eagles coach Andy Reid as saying that "People are entertaining us with offers. Nothing's been done, but we're evaluating all of them." Not a confirmation that anything is happening soon, but from what we've gleaned elsewhere over the past few months, something seems to be percolating. ESPN's NFC East blogger, Matt Mosley, sat down with Reid at the NFC coaches' breakfast on Wednesday and came away with an interesting take based on the conversation (seen below), and he speculates that "the Rams, Bills, 49ers, Seahawks, Cardinals and Vikings could all be in play." No surprises there. Update: There's been a whirlwind of rumors -- on both Philly and New York sports radio stations -- that a deal is being hashed out involving McNabb going to the Rams for the No. 33 overall pick. It's a rumor we heard a few weeks ago, and apparently it's back "on the table" per Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer. McNabb has a de facto no-trade clause, in that if he doesn't want to go to a certain team, he won't negotiate a new deal with them. His current pact expires after the upcoming season, and it's not believed he wants to end his career for one of the league's bottom-feeding teams. However, according to McLane, McNabb is willing to go to the Rams if they offer him a contract extension. Matt Mosley Kolb Time could be coming soon, Philly fans "After spending about 20 minutes with Reid on Wednesday, I'm convinced there's a pretty good chance Kolb is his starting quarterback in 2010." This was on the "Rumors" of ESPN |

Updated the thread title to make it more accurate.

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Not necessarily bad for us. There are no guarantees with Kolb.. He may suck and make this look really dumb for the Eagles. I'm of the opinion that you keep a franchise QB no matter what it takes - because they rarely get traded (although interestingly Favre, Brees, Shaub - have been traded over the recent years)... BUT if Kolb steps in and does well - the Eagles look super-smart.
I can't wait to see what Bradford does on March 29th at his Pro Day. I guess he's back to us now. Funny -- when the Rams looked like they were drafting him, I wanted him. Now that he may slip to us, I'm concerned about his shoulder again... The grass is always greener... |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
The Lions and Tampa Bay may be in the position to trade down now...and Tampa Bay would be the likely candidate to trade down now that getting McCoy or Suh may not be possible (unless Detroit goes with Okung).
If Bradford falls to us, I think Bruce Allen would be in position to trade down with the Bills, the Browns, Jacksonville, Seattle, or maybe even Oakland. My dream would be for BA to rob the Bills of their first and couple of other picks for our #4. |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I have been praying for amonth now that the Rams would make this exact trade so that they move off of Bradford.
|
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Looks like this is going to happen, but what I wonder is a) how much longer does McNabb plan on playing and b) might the Rams still take a QB anyway? My guess is no since it's the no. 1 overall pick we're talking about
|
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Sorry Tebow, but Bradford was always my first choice.

great news! Screw PHILLY

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
I STILL dont want Bradford. What good is a QB if he cant be protected? He may be the "sexy" pick but a LT would do better in the long run imo. Plus if they did bring in SB what would they do with JC? Grossman was brought in because he knows the O and we all know if they do go with a QB that high chances are he would start day one. JC would be the odd man out imo due to his salary. end rant

I think he might take McCoy before Suh and I still think Okung goes to the Lions and I could be wrong on both counts |

Ben won the SB without being protected. Aaron Rodgers took GB deep with terrible protection. We have had one of the best LTs in the entire league for ten years now. It hasn't taken us anywhere. |

Aaron Rodgers took GB deep with terrible protection. We have had one of the best LTs in the entire league for ten years now. It hasn't taken us anywhere.
We also had a terrible front office that made terrible decisions. One of the main reasons we haven't been successful. Due to our glaring holes in many areas, I think the best course of action would be to trade down if Bradford falls to us. There should be plenty of teams lining up to take him at #4, if Tampa Bay doesn't trade down with someone first. |
Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
St. Louis has determined that McNabb and one of the DT's is the best way to improve their club. Even though he is in his early 30's, McNabb is better than any QB in the draft and the Rams don't have to pass on Suh or McCoy (likely Suh). No one at #33 is going to be as talented as McNabb and the Eagles want to move onto Kolb and get something in value for Donovan before his performance diminishes. For the Skins, it improves our choices at number four. Everyone wins with this trade.

Re: Rumor: Eagles and Rams Finalizing Trade Involving McNabb
Cleveland could still jump us to get to Bradford. Holmgren has publicly said he doesn't care for Clausen...

And the possibility of Bradford falling to us just increased, but it still doesn't mean we'll draft him.
I tend to agree but wonder how soon the Rams think the playoffs are feasible, and whether McNabb will still be the right guy to be the starting QB when they have the right playoff pieces together. At first glance, I'm not seeing the advantage for them. No doubt, they'd be getting a talented QB, but the Rams are a team that I'd peg as one that, if it was inclined to trade a second round pick, would want in exchange an established player that is a little younger than McNabb. |
