SSDD. Hey were is our wonderful guy who asked when the week 4 thread would be open? Smoot you need to send a personal invite since you kinda did the Smackdown on him the other day...."when I'm damn good and ready." LOL.
|
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
maybe we should have monthly FA threads since the skins arent doing jack in free agency.
|
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
^ yeah, I know this is a nice idea but wondered how long it will last? Is the plan to continue all the way up to the draft? or will it trail off? I'll be shocked if we see "2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (week 18)." LOL. Not that it can't happen, but shocked since the Skins are being frugal this year.
|
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
Well, these threads are about the NFL, not just the Skins. As time wears on we can dial back on the new threads as needed.

Because he just had his knee scoped so he's still on crutches, and won't pass a physical until then. It's not major knee surgery its just minor. |

I also get the sense that free safety is not an issue to the team. Which worries me a bit. Is Atogwe (Rams) much of a free safety? If he is, I think he'd be a younger option than Sharper. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan was noncommittal when asked if he'd be interested in trading for Brandon Marshall after the April 15 deadline for restricted free agents to sign with other clubs.
"You'll just have to wait and see," Shanahan said. "Can't share that with you." We wouldn't make too much of this. Multiple reports had Shanahan growing tired of Marshall's act in Denver last winter, and it's even been speculated that Shanny's plan to dump the receiver eventually led to his ouster. Even if we wanted him I'd have a hard time seeing how we could put together a solid offer. |

The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are "working actively to deal" DE Alex Brown & already cut ties with Adewale Ogunleye...Would either of theses DE fit in a 3-4?

Doubt it. Possibly Alex Brown but he's more of an OLB. I'd much rather give Javaris Moss a shot at OLB if he's available. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
Per PFT, Jimmy Clausen will visit the Rams, Browns, and Bills prior to the draft. His visit to the Rams is irrelevant to the Skins for the purpose of trading down. But what if St. Louis picks Bradford at #1 and either the Browns or the Bills, or both, want Clausen and we don't?
I think we'd have to give very serious consideration to trading down with either Cleveland or Buffalo. We could end up with either the #7 or the #9 pick plus two high picks (I accidently typed "two high pricks" but I caught the error before I posted), including our own, in the 2nd round. Considering the holes we have to fill and the quality of this year's OT crop, we could do a lot of good with those three picks. |

This is an article that relates to something I have mentioned a while ago about how we shouldn't get Gehrhart because he's a white running back, and I believe that SFRedskin was the one I was debating this about. Nice article though. |

The fourth and seventh picks in round one have a 300 point difference. We could do this deal if they trade up: To Cleveland 1st round pick--4th overall (1800 points) To Washington 1st round pick--7th overall (1500 points) 3rd round pick--71st overall (235 points) 5th round pick--133rd overall (40 points) 6th round pick--167th overall (25 points) The points in this trade would be identical and the Skins would then have eight picks in the draft: 1) 7th overall 2) 37th overall 3) 71st overall 4) 100rd overall 5) 131st overall 5) 133rd overall 6) 167th overall 7) 195th overall |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
The points may be equal, but I just can't see Holmgren paying 3 extra draft picks to move up 3 spots. Maybe the 1, 3 & either the 5th or 6th.

I honestly feel BA can pull this off with the Bills or Oakland. |

If you don't want just one 2nd round pick, then why not demand both of Cleveland's third round picks (71st and 92nd). That's 467 points but so what? The question for Cleveland is: "Do you want him or not?". Cleveland has 11 picks in the draft, so they certainly have the capacity to pony up the picks. We could send them a low round pick in the trade if it makes them feel better. That would give us 5 picks in the top 100 and 7 picks overall. 1) 7th overall 2) 37th overall 3) 71st overall 4) 92nd overall 5) 100th overall 6) 131st overall 7) 195th overall |

You can squeeze more juice if your guy is there and you got to have him (i.e.-Sanchez to Jets). The other approach is to get more picks to build the belly of your team. |
Re: 2010 NFL Off-Season Rumors and Reports (Week 4)
I would be ecstatic to be able to trade down to #7 and pick up another 2nd or 2 3rds myself.

So with all the hubub about trading down, who would we take at #7 or #9.... OT Anthony Davis, OT Bruce Campbell Or OT Charles Brown.... I Dont much care for Bulaga after watching him against Michigan |

We can still get a quality player at #7 or #9. Plus with the extra 2nd or 3rds, we can fill out even more. There will still be some quality there. |
