Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......

Watching the above, which I stumbled upon during surfing this evening, I had to ask myself, "Would having this guy, tough, determined, and willing to do anything necessary to succeed (ie change his throwing delivery), be such a bad thing? I think he would be a great face for the franchise, able to grind some tough yards when needed, and will bust 90% of the DT's in the NFL in the mouth without a seconds thought. He is that tough, and someone that tough that can throw 60 yards + and is a born leader???? We have to take a chance on this guy....... I was at first against the idea of him as our QB, but the more I watch him, the more ppl keep saying he can't, yet he still shows determination to win and at least try.......The more I root for him and hope our F.O picks him up, or at least discusses him as an option for the franchises future. I believe that he IS that good, and with proper mechanics, which I am sure an athlete of his calibre can fix, will be a pro bowl QB in the NFL before u know it. Trade Rogers and Carter for another second rounder to pick this guy up, and u have your OL and your QB taken care of. GO SKINS!!!! |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
We'll see how long this thread stays open, but while we're getting caught up in Tebow-ness, I'll throw this one out there as far as a great video:

Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
i wouldnt be opposed to drafting Tebow.
not even a lil bit... |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
The guy definitely will get a shot somewhere, and I would prefer he be on our team than seeing him in, say, a Cowgirls jersey, and then have him bowling over Landry and Rogers ala Brandon Jacobs style. That would suck, lol.......
I really think he could take this franchise nowhere but up.......nothing but upside..... |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Good thing that we are talking about Tebow AGAIN.

That isn't such a hard feat once we rebuild the O line. Shoot if Allen was able to totally rebuild the line this preseason JC could end up in the Pro Bowl. |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Yeah, I would love to get Tebow in say the 5th or 6th round anything higher than that is plan STUPID!! Please get off of this Tebow is God kick. This has been discussed in several other threads. Tebow isn't an NFL QB, please move on from this.

Yup. I think despite all the Tebow/Bradford/Clausen drooling/debate that has been going on around here, the best odds tilt in favor of Campbell making big strides under Shanahan and keeping his job. Hell, Shanahan made Brian Greise and Jake Plummer look pretty damn good. Then again, maybe Shanny is thinking, "well if I made those bums look good, imagine what I could do with Bradford (or Clausen/Tebow/McCoy)?" |

So which of these four is that guy in your opinion? I think Bradford is the safest bet. After him it's a crapshoot IMO, and I don't there's any way St. Louis passes on him. |

Not sure where Mechanix got that. Also, there aren't too many NFL RB's that run over starting LB's regularly. Tebow is a hard runner with some serious lower body strength. He could move some piles in the NFL, and on occasion he could run through a LB or two. But anyone who thinks he'll dominate as a runner in the NFL like he did in college is smoking something. Also, if he makes it as an NFL QB, I'm pretty sure he'll have specific instructions NOT to take defenders head on, despite what his instincts tell him. |

Dude we haven't even starched the surface on Tebow. You think the Campbell talks were bad, you ain't seen nothing yet. |

Tim Tebow doesn't read, he just stares down books until they give him all the information he wants.

Franchise QBs are very rare anymore and are often not the ones that are hyped. I smell a possible Carr/Harrington/Ramsey scenario panning out. These guys( bradford, Tebow, McCoy) have always gone into a game being a marked favorite, with a few exceptions. Parity in the league is going to take its toll. Get a Qb that can handle parity and can win when the odds are not in his favor. Why? Because the guy that is going to come here is going to face equal to superior opponents every weekend. |

After that guy retired after his second Lombardi, Mike's fortunes went downhill in Denver. Kyle is a good coach in his own right, but Carr was a failure, and Schaub is pretty decent, but was a vet QB when he came in so who knows what Kyle can do with a QB. |

Mike got John to win two Super Bowls after loosing three. He also sent Jake Plummer, Brian Griese, and Jay Cutler to the Pro Bowl. This was after the Snake had put up pathetic numbers in Arizona. Kyle Shanahan turned Matt Schuab into a top tier QB (check out his numbers this past year). I think it's safe to say they know how to develop QB's. Kyle also had nothing to do with David Carr. That was Chris Palmer. Kyle Shanahan was still playing college football when David Carr was drafted. |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Drafting Tebow would be great for the simple fact of have the Cult of Colt fighting with the Followers of the Book Of Tebow. it would be very entertaining.
|
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Tebow talk is directly proportional to Sam Bradford's draft stock.
|
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
I will say this I think Tebow will have a better chance to succed then Bradford, assuming Bradford goes to the Rams. Tebow could end up in a stable franchise under a established QB that will teach him, Bradford is going to a absoult mess in St Louis and will be expected to turn the whole thing around.
Always makes me think what would a J. Russell, A. smith, J Harrington, etc...been like if they had gone to a more established franchise. |

I knew he was a bust from day 1. I wouldn't be surprised if Tebow get's picked up by the browns/bills/jags/etc. in the second round and becomes a good player. Although it's safe to say that the scouts who predict him to be unsuccessful know what they're doing more than any of us. |

yeah, I would be worried about any college football player that couldn't run through dry wall, that stuff is weak. Put that dude in the video in front of an old plaster/lathe wall; I'm puttin my money on the wall winning that one. |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Tim Tebow has a ton of athletic ability, he's smart, and he works hard. Sounds like someone I'd like a team full of, but I really don't want to see us reach too early for him.

A) thats not the point of the video; the fact that he kept playing on a broken leg is. B) him crying after games is a good thing in the nfl, because that shows that he cares about more about losing and less about the paycheck. C) I don't even think he cries anymore after losses, because I think when they lost to Alabama he didn't cry from what I saw of the postgame stuff. |

Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
I recall JC catching some shit from some folks for getting upset after a loss... but now with Tebow it's a good thing??
Man you guys seriously need to chill with this Tebow circle jerk. |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
All of this bluster for an eventual H-back. Amazing.
|
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Lotus...he's going to be a QB...and a good one at that. It's absurd to think that he isn't going to at least get a shot.
|
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
^ Oh, I believe he'll get a shot at QB. Then, in 2-3 years, it will become clear to him and his team that the best way that he can contribute is to switch to H-back.

Who is Tebow better than right now out of the 32 starting QB's in the league?
Who is Tebow better than right now out of the 32 starting QB's in the league?
Probably no one as of today. But that's not the right question to ask right now, since everyone knows he needs a year or two to sit and learn before he can step in and start in this league. The question you ask will be best answered in one-two years. |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Who is Tebow better than right now out of the 32 starting QB's in the league?
Jamarcus Russell, Jake Delhomme, Marc Bulger, Matt Hasselbeck, maybe Trent Edwards? I think Tebow would play better than any of these guys. |
Re: Tebow - More Upside than Downside for a franchise......
Tebow is not better than any starting NFL QB right now. He doesn't even have the basic fundamentals of footwork down and he's not up to speed with reading NFL defenses.
This Tebow man crush continues to amaze me. |

After a full offseason workout and training camps are you suggesting they don't get themselves ready for the speed of NFL defenses? Forget the fundamentals and footwork he's learning, the second he starts in the NFL he'll go back to his college instincts and pass the ball better than all those guys I mentioned. I would rather see Tebow start the next 2 years than have Marc Bulger or Jake Delhomme on my team. I do not think we should draft Tebow, but I'm just saying everyone is forgetting that this guy will be a "decent" NFL quarterback and nothing more. That's why he's out of the first round discussion because in the first round you try to strike the next Peyton Manning |

I do follow the Skins and i believe if we are going to turn this franchise around soon unless we trade down for more picks we can't use a valuable draft pick on an experiment under our current circumstances. |

If you plugged him into an NFL game right now, Tebow would simply be overmatched on a variety of levels. There's no way he's better than any starting QB or even backup right now, and he probably won't be until he's sat on a bench for a year or so. |
