Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Now that we have brought in McNabb as well as signed veteran QB Rex Grossman to a 1 year deal, would we expect Shannahan to keep three aging quarterbacks, not draft a rookie, and cut Brennan? My guess is we replenish our draft pick stock that we lost in getting McNabb by trading campbell for whatever picks we can get. Is he gone?

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
well thats the one big positive for me on this trade is that means good bye JC!
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I think you can add Colt Brennan to this thread too.

Really? The only positive thing? |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
If he's not he sure as hell should want to be. The guy should be about tired of the Redskins playing games with him, it's time for him to think about moving on.

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
JC is Gone.. No Doubt, he will be a Bill i'm guessing
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Brennan is definitely gone as is JC...however, I wouldn't put it past Shanahan to pick up a qb in this draft to groom for 2 years
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
not much sense in keeping campbell around anymore. shame to see another first round qb not work out for us (shuler, ramsey, campbell)
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I doubt strongly that JC has a job this season if he is released, barring an injury during pre-season and somebody signs him. The guy over at Roto said just a few hours ago that there was very little interest in Campbell at all as a FA pickup. His best chance is just stay in shape incase someone gets hurt and that's his way back in the league.
I also doubt that any team would give anything for him. JC, in all truthfulness, would probably only net a 3rd or 4th round pick... Maybe somebody should make a "Thank You Jason" thread? totally not being sarcastic. I was never a fan of his, but he was classy and always handled himself professionally... |

If he got the job done the Skins would not have played these so called games. Thats probably why no one is knocking down our door to pick him up. Actually now I'd like for him to stay because he would make a good back up. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Shanahan Squared seem to be doing a total QB housecleaning.
JC will get a job somewhere else. Perhaps a change of scenery will feel merciful to him. Colt Brennan will move in with Timmy Chang and they will form their own small Pineapple gang. |

However I wouldn't want to mess with a gang that will most likely feature a large amount of Samoans. |

I heard rumors about that before, hopefully we can put that together. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I say not this season. We're going to keep him asa an insurance policy. We dont have quality backup at all.

What about Rex Grossman? |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I really don't see how Campbell has a future in Washington at this point. Versus Rex Grossman and Colt Brennan, yes, he did. But versus Donovan McNabb? Highly unlikely. It's in his best interest to figure out how to get traded, quick.
I wish Jason Campbell well. I did not like him as a quarterback, but he is still a human being who deserved to be treated better than the crap Snyder/Cerrato put him through. Some people make fun of his "used tissue" comment, but I understand exactly what he meant and I feel for him. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I hope the Skins talked to JC and let him know this was coming. Feel real bad for JC.
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Soup is done. You don't have Grossman and McNabb as your back-ups. I think Colt is gone too.
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Send him to Buffalo for a sixth this year and a third in 2011.

Sounds like they didn't. I still say, any compensation for JC is better than none. |

What is the draft strategy now?

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Yeah, there's no way you trade two picks for a QB of McNabb's caliber and leave him to sit on the bench. JC's a backup or he's gone, plain and simple.
I was a "supporter" for a while, but gave that up midseason, as he missed opportunities a better QB would have taken advantage of. Still, I hold no animosity towards to him and wish him the best. He played tough for an undisciplined team and with a shoddy O-line in front of him. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I'd say if we unload him...which we should, it would be to either Oakland or Buffalo...both are in the hunt for a QB...also don't rule out Carolina. Hopefully we can get a 2nd for him...perhaps pick up another cog to the OL?

We go from no quality back up (sorry sexy rexy) to arguably the best back up QB in the league in JC. |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
If we can get a 2nd I'll be ecstatic
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Don't rule out the Jags either...or the Vikings

Some interesting similarities between Campbell and McNabb -- in 2009, McNabb completed 15 passes of 20+ yards, Campbell 14. 1 minute ago via webDoug_Farrar |
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
No way JC is coming back.
|
Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Listening to Zoe Alexander and DHall on Comcast, it seems like a foregone conclusion that Campbell's days are numbered as a Washington Redskin.

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
Talk about a "duh" thread.

Re: Is Campbell Officially Headed Out The Door?
I'm starting to think that we should ask JC what he wants to do (either stay and learn for a year under Shanahan and wait for better starting jobs to open up in 2011 or try to find a job now). We owe him that much considering all the crap he's had to put up with. Part of the reason McNabb is a Redskin right now and not an Eagle is because the Eagles didn't want to "totally screw him over." On top of that we have very little leverage anyway in dealing with teams. I mean does he even want to go to Buffalo? I think Oakland would rather continue the Russell experiment.

So you have McNabb at starter, backup #1 JC, and backup #2 SexyRexy? I think JC would want to go some team where he has the chance to start. |

I would guess he would rather start for Buffalo then backup here. |

The new regime doesn't owe him anything. Sucks for JC but that's life in the NFL |

Thank goodness. That's better than the whole fiasco with Cutler where Campbell was left to read about it in the papers. |
