New possible trade/draft scenarios
So lets see if we can spin this, 1 pick in the first 100+, and mediocre interest in tradable talents.......altho with shanny and allen, I would say anyone we have is up for trade the way things have been going......
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
I have no idea who will be traded for more picks...but it's going to happen.
I think Bruce Allen is going to give us a wild ride on draft day. He better...we need Okung but he's not the only player we need. |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
Trade our #4 and 'los with san fran for their #13 pick and their 2nd rounder. JC to Oakland for their 3rd rounder, and Cooley to TB for their 3rd rounder.
Lose - 'los, JC, Cooley, #4 pick Gain - 13th, 2nd rounder, 3rd, 3rd Gives us something to work with at least. |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
well, whatever the ride, I am definitely on board. At first, didnt really love the trade, but with everything given a little time to sink in, I think we will contend for the NFC east this year!!!!!
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
^ Cooley isn't worth a 3rd rounder, you could easily get a second for him, maybe a first. Cincinnati needs a TE desperately.
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
ALso, with Tony Gonz. getting a relatively early 2nd rounder for him via trade, I think Cooley can command at least a late 2nd rounder. I think he would be worth that.......
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
Trade Campbell and Andre Carter as a package for 2nd and 3th picks.
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
Gotta figure JC will be traded. JC to the raiders for a 2nd or 3rd makes sense, so long as B. Allen is still in good w/Al Davis.

Cooley isn't fetching a 1st. Zero chance. Possibly a late second round pick but that is doubtful with his contract. People throw out the Gonzalez trade but I don't see Cooley in Gonzalez's league yet. Gonzalez is the greatest pass catching tight end ever (with Sharpe being in the conversation). |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
You're not getting much value. Hell, our #4 would pull the 13th and their 2nd. Trading Carlos is a terrible idea, in my mind. We have Carlos and Hall as our #1 and #2 corners with Buchannon in the slot. Sounds good to me, let's keep it like that.
I could see us moving Cooley/Moss to Denver for Marshall/2nd or 3rd rounder. With the recent news about us dangling Haynesworth, I could see him pulling some fairly large compensation. Gonzalez is 98 years old. Cooley is not. That's what makes him valuable. Proven commodity at TE with lots of years left.

exactly why i posted the above. Way more miles to be had, along with all the talent in the world. |

Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
Yep, Haynesworth and Landry could be moved (Haynesworth will be tougher because of cost).
Donovan McNabb trade: Albert Haynesworth, LaRon Landry reportedly offered to Eagles The Donovan McNabb trade story is about more than a quarterback. The Redskins reportedly offered defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to the Eagles in exchange for McNabb. There are multiple reports now that Haynesworth was part of the negotiations, and we'd heard this weekend that the team was shopping the talented defensive tackle around, too (to whom, though, wasn't clear until Sunday night). If true, it's very telling that the team was willing to part ways with Haynesworth after just one season. Owner Daniel Snyder signed him to the mega-deal just 13 months ago; to send him packing now means that the new regime 1) isn't certain how he fits into its plans, or 2) simply doesn't want him in their building. Shanahan has made it clear that he wants to see commitment from every player and he's disappointed that Haynesworth isn't participating in the team's offseason conditioning program. Depending on when the Redskins offered Haynesworth, it could also show just how desperate they are to get rid of him. Last Thursday, Haynesworth was paid a $21 million contract bonus. If the Redskins were still trying to include him in the trade over the weekend, that means they'd be okay with the possibility of paying Haynesworth tens of millions of dollars for essentially 12 football games. It's more likely Haynesworth was part of the discussions before the bonus was paid out, which simply means that despite the major financial commitment made a year ago in free agency, the new staff is not nearly as keen on Haynesworth as the old one. There are clearly no sacred cows at Redskins Park. Jason Campbell's days are numbered (although the team has no leverage in any deal with potential suitors), and reports also indicate that the Redskins offered Philadelphia safety LaRon Landry, the Redskins' first-round pick in the 2007 draft. That, coupled with the fact that Eric Berry was in town for a pre-draft visit, could lead you to believe the Redskins feel they can afford to upgrade mightily at the safety position. A year ago at this time, it seemed like Haynesworth and Landry were both crucial cogs to the Redskins' defense. Quite a change if their most important role right now is as trade bait. |

And at 96 when he went to Atlanta, he has dwarfed Cooley in production the last two years. Cooley isn't going for a second. I don't care what all of the dreamers think. |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
true, but thats where age, value, production, and years left in their prime come in, and where I give the edge to teams not wanting portis and more wanting haynesworth. Haynesworths 28, productive for the most part, still well in his prime, is worth atleast a second rounder.

Cooley isn't going for a second. I don't care what all of the dreamers think.[/quote] Well Cooley was hurt last season and has been part of an awful offensive in the past two seasons. I don't think any team would hold that against Cooley. |

Teams aren't going to hold a season ending leg injury against a guy? Really? |

What he means is, the Redskins don't, why wouldn't another team? |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
A broken ankle which he should be 110% healed from isn't going to hurt his trade value. Regardless I don't think we're trading him.

I hope we don't. Having the best depth in the NFL at any position is not something we should give up. What happens if we trade Cooley or Davis...and the remaining Redskin TE gets hurt? Who's the starter then? Yoder's not even around any more. Sean Ryan? Lee Vickers? |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
OK, I posted this in another thread -- we most likely cannot get a 2nd round pick for Jason Campbell straight up.
But what about switching places with either Seattle, Cleveland, Oakland, Buffalo, or Jacksonville in the first (our #4 for #6-10) along with Campbell to get their 2nd round pick? More plausible that way? |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
How about Campbell and Rogers for Asomugha?
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
my trade scenario can now happen. Jason plus the first for the 49ers two first rounders. and a forth. We then draft two Tackles in the first and wha-laa a powerhouse team!
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
Cooley might not get anymore than a third rounder if we attempted to trade him.... and I don't think we should trade him for a third etiher. He's more valuable to us than a 3rd round pick, IMO. I do think Cooley/Davis should be shopped just to see what the market is for them, just because we have a luxury at tight end, and so many other holes. Ultimatley though, I think they both end up with the Redskins next season, and I'm 100% on board with that... The Cooley/Moss to Devner trade is intriguing to say the least though. Although that seems to be more just us coming up with stuff than anything.

Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
We can trade anyone and everyone if it gets us a better chance to win. My mind is blown with Donovan McNabb as qb of the Redskins...

It will be a long time before this trade got over. Wow I believe this trade will go down has the all time stinker!

Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
How about calling up Al Davis and swing a deal with the Raiders? We could do this deal:
To Oakland: Washington's #1 (4th overall) 1800 points Jason Campbell QB To Washington: Oakland's #1 (8th overall) 1400 points Oakland's #2 (39th overall) 520 points Oakland's #5 (158th overall) 28 points Oakland's #3 2011 |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
What about this one: we trade down with Denver to the 11th pick and Brandon Marshall. They get the 4th pick.
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
I hope we can trade down somehow and swap 1st round picks, pick up a 2nd round, trade JC for 3rd round pick that would leave us with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 7th round picks plus McNabb.
|

We will only have 1 3rd round pick. We lost one when we got Jarmon. |

I'm pretty certain thats what we'll see. In a best case scenario, we could end up trading our first for both of SF's 1sts, trading Haynesworth for low 1st, Rogers for a 3rd, Cooley/Davis for a 3rd, McIntosh for a 4th and Carter for a 5th. We could even trade one of those 1st's for a 2nd and a 3rd. That would give us a 1st, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd 4th, 4th, 5th, 7th, and Donovan McNabb. Granted, we're not likely go be able to make THAT many moves, but i'd be shocked if we don't do alot of wheeling and dealing before and during the draft. At minimum, i'm 95% sure that we will trade out of the #4 overall pick now that its almost a certainty that Suh or McCoy will be available there. |
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
Well, swapping 1sts with denver and packaging JC and Thomas for Marshall........That IMO would be the best deal we could make, given the circumstances........
Man I really want Marshall now......... |

Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
picks aren't everything. these are proven vetrans. We just need enough picks to get 2 starting tackles.
|
Re: New possible trade/draft scenarios
That grilled cheese is still available for Landry. Just thought I'd mention it.
