Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
I would like to take a little time out from all the hoooplah and thank Jason Campbell for a few things.
1. For closing down TX Stadium(dump) with a Redskin Victory. All though we should have opened up the new dump with one. 2. For being a true class act my man, how you made it through that circus of a season last year speaks volumes of your character. A lesser man (ex.Jeff George) would have made that situation so much worse than what it was. I personally would have mofo’ed a player, coach, official, reporter, my dog, all the Sherman’s, an old woman, the owner, Vinnie, or anyone close to that mess. 3. For not being a Heath Shuler. (got a feeling the new #5 is gona be a little better) 4. Never complaining about the offense. I lost count of exactly how many coordinators you studied under, but you could probably put together you own offense by now. I think this will do you well where ever you land. 5. For not blowing your ACL on Zorn’s slip-n-slide. 6. For surviving last year behind that o-line. That in it’s self was a true festivus miracle. That’s the first time I ever saw where a one man rush could get to the quarterback. I thought every time u dropped back it was gona be a screen. (I will give Buges some lovin, cause I thought he did one heck of a job considering). 7. Thanks man, I wish you well. |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
We've spoken at great length of late about Jason. Is Campbell headed out the door? Campbell will now stay away from Redskin Park. Campbell, it's just totally different than it used to be. The latter is like ringtones for him being different in more ways than one, mainly he's no longer the starting QB, though he may be afforded the opportunity to return.
I'll give Jason his props for the man he is. He obviously loves the game of football, his willingness to endure the torture of last season is a testament. Whatever happens with Jason, I wish him the best....he deserves it. |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Isn't this a little premature? He's still here, for now.
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
I wish him the best too. He was never the answer here, but he was still a classy guy and a good teammate.
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
so, with hugs and kisses and a cherry on top, BYE? Adios? Vaya con dios? Aurvoir?
can we just trade his ass and move on? I hate all this BS talk like he was one of the redskin greats and we should appreciate him more. Sorry, but just like the guy in the elevator that rips a fruity fart, I dont have a soft spot in my heart for Jason "Stink up Fed Ex Field" Campbell. I just don't. |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Great character guy, mediocre QB. Good luck on your future endeavors! If he could have executed, maybe he wouldn't have had so many Offensive coordinators. Good Luck and THANK GOD you won't be the starting QB for the Redskins!!
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
yes the true miracle was surviving behind that OL. No QB could ever succeed behind what was the worst OL I've ever seen at the pro level.
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
I cannot remember a guy who has had so much promise go through that much change year to year as he did. I wish him the best if he is traded, although I fear where ever he goes, (Jacksonville, Carolina, Oakland) are all places to likely end up with a new coach in 12 months.
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Don't let the door hit'cha where the good lord split'cha!
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Honestly, the new regime owed him nothing....no players were owed anything by Shanahan and company....
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
In the end he will compete against sexy Rex for the #2 job. "starter" is the key word. If he is not being offerred a starting position he might as well sign that nice juicy tender. If he beats Rex for backup then there may be interest, he may find a starting opportunity during preseason.

Collins did well behind the same line. the Oline really got bad the past 2 yrs but not G.B or Houston bad. David Carr and Aaron Rodgers are lucky to be alive. |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
I probably speak for most Skins fans here in saying: I don't know of any QB that has gotten more Patience and RESPECT from their fans than Campbell did from us, the best fans in all of sports.
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
McNabb in. Campbell out. No respect due. Just sign the sheet and find a team to backup the starting QB.
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Thats rIGHT JC!!!!
Make like a baby, and HEAD OUT!!!!!! |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Ok lets be reasonable here. JC, thanks for the memories. Ill never forget the time you
Threw the bomb to Moss for the game winner vs the Saints. Drove the team back against the Panthers with the big play to Cooley. And the time you.................. uh, thats all i got. :) |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
He has been nothing but classy throughout this process and the last couple of years when frankly he has at times been treated in less than a professional manner by this organization. For Jason's sake and his own development I hope he gets to go to a team where he can have a fresh start.

You gave me an idea...Shuler jersey off e-Bay...change nameplate...ba-boom. Cheap McNabb jersey. I agree...this thread is premature. I think he COULD end up staying and at some point, come in to play if McNabb goes down. |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Thanks JC for the headaches and underaverage seasons. Now we have a QB who can throw a touchdown pass to a WR before the middle of the season. You are a class act but I am glad it will be with another team now!! Goodbye

Yeah, this is a thread that is more fitting for an Eagle forum on McNabb than a Redskin forum on Campbell. Campbell has had his detractors during his relatively brief and on-the-whole uneventful stay here, but they've been far outnumbered by his supporters and/or apologists. I've liked him, sympathized with the challenges he's faced here, but when he (presumably) leaves, I hardly think it will be a significant day in Redskin lore. |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
An Eagles forum would NEVER make a thread to show respect to a player, ESPECIALLY McNabb.
Yes...another chance to post it... [yt]kBJEfmQA9q4[/yt] |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Some folks need to be reminded that poor on-field performance does not mean that is some Campbell bad-character dude who deserves to be jailed and put in solitary.
|
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
I've been tempted to do a search on all of the debates between the Campbell supporters and the detractors over the past few seasons. There was a time when what seemed like a good solid majority were incredulous at the idea that JC might not be the quarterback of the future after all. Some were beside themselves at the thought that anyone even dare suggest it.
I guess most people had hope at the beginning -- personally, my optimism for him faded faster than others. I always had some leeway for him because the receivers were suspect, and the O-line by late 2008 and throughout '09 end gave him no chance. So I sort of wanted to call out all those people who argued practically to the death that JC is the QB the future, that he just needs one more chance. But I won't. As for the "respect" that he is due? Well ... he seemed like a nice fella. How about that? |

He's been paid very well to be an average football player for the past few years and someone will be paying him 3 million bucks this year to be an average football player for them. I don't wish him any ill will but I am not going to line up to pat him on the back either. If he played better he would still be the starting QB of the Redskins...that's all this is about. |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
I think its been stated enough times on this forum. JC is such a classy act, a cute little kitty cat who is so talented..........lets all pat him on the head.
Noone is saying he has a bad character. I am just saying good f*ckin riddance, and hello to a real QB that actually guns the flippin ball down the field. |

It's tough for "fans" to step back and take a honest look at their players. JC, while a dedicated, tough, stand up guy, is not a guy that's going to lead this franchise to championships. He's a decent, maybe slightly above average qb who's a great guy from all accounts. |

Good for you if you "figured it out" quicker than others. If this told you so moment makes you feel better go for it, I'm sure you've never been wrong on things before. ;) Who knows really, under different conditions things might have worked out better for JC. In the end though he's a solid QB, not a bum as some want to make him out to be. Will he ever be a franchise guy? Probably not. But can he be a solid starter under more stable conditions than what has been the Washington Redskins during the Snyder/Cerrato era? I think so. |

Oh, and just for the record, yes ... sometimes, The Beemnseven is wrong. |

What I do think some people (myself included) are tired of is comments that lower the fanbase to looking more like Eagles fans than Redskins fans. I've defended Campbell on this board, both statistically and subjectively. Not because I think he's a franchise QB or the QB of the future, but because I believe that he's a decent QB who works hard, is durable, reasonably accurate, young, and has good character. If you can win a Super Bowl with Trent Dilfer, I'm pretty damn sure you could make the playoffs with Jason Campbell. But that's neither here nor there, because that's not the way we've approached team building in the past, and the signing of McNabb is a clear indicator that Win Now is still the team's mantra. Anyway, regardless of where you place the blame for the team's performance over the past few years, IMO the vitriol that is aimed at JC17 is really uncalled for. Statistically the guy has improved year after year, he has always worked his ass off, has taken more physical punishment than any Skins QB not named Ramsey, and has generally just fallen short of our lofty expectations. That shouldn't earn him a ticker tape parade, but it shouldn't earn him scorn and derision, either. When you think about the carousel of failures, idiots, and prima donnas we've had on this team in the last few years: Lloyd, Archuleta, Jason Taylor, Portis, Rogers, and don't even get me started on Haynesworth.. you've got "me first" players everywhere you look. Jason wasn't what we all hoped he would be, but I think the annual Snyder spending sprees have dulled some of you to just how rare it is to have a guy who is team first through and through who gives it everything he has and (pardon the expression, Saint Joe) "fights his guts out". Personally, I appreciate that, even if it didn't lead to the results I wanted. It's the same reason I love Gary Williams and would be revolted if a guy like Calipari were ever to be hired to coach the Terps, but then again there are a lot of people screaming "Fire Gary" because he isn't landing the one-and-done walking recruiting violation blue chippers. YMMV I guess. |

The guy did little here as far as winning, he had his shot, fair or not. I think we've come to the point where it's best to just move on. |

I can't help but wonder, if Campbell was more of a "me first" type guy and was more vocally critical of the complete lack of protection he was receiving whether this sadistically fickle fan base would have been more supportive of him. Seems like nice guys generally get thrown under the bus and just because he wasn't all up in people's faces bitching and moaning he doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. Clearly the "team"...yeah, this is a team sport, didn't meet expectations under Campbell. Has a quarterback ever met expectations of this fan base other than Theismann, Williams, or Rypien...all for one season only? Can't help but believe McNabb will be the the victim of the Washington faithful's wrath after a few of his signature dump offs to the dirt, or anti-aircraft fire over throws. They will happen...the question is how will we respond? |
Re: Can we please take a time out and show Jason Campbell some respect here?
Jason and his agent need to be very proactive right now. They need to hard sell him to some team for at least something reasonable like a fourth round pick. I am worried that they will not be capable of doing it because Jason "Sittin on the Dock of the Bay" Campbell would rather be listening to Otis Redding at his favorite fishing hole takin it easy being laid back and country.
I think he has a great way about him and I am in no way saying that he doesn't have a right to be himself, but the dude is just so mellow I am worried that he will just be like I will just sit back and let teams call my agent and then the phone never rings. |

I'm sure there are those within the organization, up too and including Dan Snyder that truly appreciate what Jason tried to accomplish for the team. Unfortunately, situations and circumstances (some beyond his control) rendered it difficult for him to be as successful as they may have liked for him to be. Jason will forever have his detractors with various reasons for not liking him, and while efforts were made to upgrade the position, it does not mean he was any less appreciated or should be demeaned for his efforts. |
