Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?

The one player nobody wants to admit that they want! Would you take consider picking up T.O. considering what a dangerous offensive weapon he and Mcnabb can be? Mcnabb and T.O. not getting along? From what I see and hear, those days are behind them. T.O./Mcnabb have a great chemistry. Also, T.O. is the best FA receiver out there. Can he be a cancer? Yup! would you take the risk? Would like your input at this point. I predict T.O. is a Redskin by July! (If he's not a Bengal by then) ;) edit: removed video due to its "misleading" nature. |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
This is completely misleading. Note the episode was taped a month ago.
Just because you are a part of an episode you get paid to do, doesnt mean you are bbfls with TO. |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
I'll say it. If McNabb and TO buried the hatchet, I'd take him on the skins. While in Buffalo they were constantly trying to bait him and he was the consummate professional. I'm not giving him a huge contract, but if he wants to come in, I'd give him a shot.
TO can be a drama queen. However, he produces, works very hard in the offseason and the weight room, and football is his priority. If we're trying to be competitive quick. He'd be a decent cheap signing for a group I consider pretty weak. |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Furthermore, if for some strange reason we get TO, it wouldnt be because of crappy show they worked on a month ago.
Also, getting McNabb makes much more sense than TO. We all know QB was a long term need over WR. Like Joseph Smith, this is dum dum dum dum dummm. |

The hoops video has nothing to do with the reason why I think Mcnabb/TO share chemistry. Its in no way misleading. Just interesting. BTW... You get paid to play in the NFL too, last I heard! |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
I have said it before, I would take TO for a one year deal. Assuming that Mitchell isn't ready to start. I don't want to see any more slants to Moss although he tends to get more separation than Kelly.
|
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
TO seems far more mature than he did just a few years ago. If he and McNabb are chaps I wouldn't have any problem bringing him in.
Realistically I don't see Thomas and Kelly both having breakout seasons as starting wide-outs (Tana in the slot). Under Hixon's tutelage both guys' progression was slowed, and then of course Kelly has been so oft injured. Thomas is further along at this point so I'd like to see him start opposite a truly gifted WR. TO might as well be that guy. |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
After a 4-12 record, an assembled collection of older veterans already brought into the fold, I can't see it would hurt for a one year experiment. It's not like we have many draft picks anyway. The only thing I can think is it will improve us or at worst make us no worse off than we were last year. Give it a shot.
|
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
no, too many egos on one team... more specifically on one side of the ball. don't get me wrong he still is a good player, but not a fit for us. he has matured some but as soon as he feels comfortable he's gonna start complaining. so personally no i don't want (as Skip Bayless would say) Team Obliterator.

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Well if he did open the door for T.O. I hope he slams it in his face on his way in.

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Nah...TO here means less playing time for our young WRs. I want to see what DT can do.

His behavior was exemplary during his tenure in Buffalo. Since we're back in "win now" mode, we might as well go all the way and sign him along with Flozell Adams. |

Is Hell frozen over?
|
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Wouldn't surprise me at all to see TO get a serious look by the Skins, still think the first choice on the Redskins part though will be to find a way to get Marshall here.
Either way, if Moss, Thomas, and Kelly are the top 3 here it won't be because that's what the Skins wanted. Thomas is the only one they are fully committed to |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Count me as a TO to Washington fan. He's maybe lost a bit of a step, but he will draw the opponents coverage every time. McNabb and he can have a good chemistry together, so if we have to have McNabb, then bring his best sidekick along. As opposed to the view of hindering MK/DT, it will open up schemes for them, and if they are going to produce then bonus. If they can't produce with teams focusing on TO/Moss, then they wouldn't produce by themselves.

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
They may have kissed and made up, but I don't think Donovan wants to go down that road again.
|
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
I don't see it, but if for some strange reason that McNabb went to Shanahan and asked him to get T.O., then ok, go get him. I cannot see that happening however.

I think McNabb wants a SB, not that he'll get it, and he knows how TO and him played on the field. But it will definitely be a MS call, McNabb just has to say whether he can or cannot be in the same locker room with TO. |
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
I don't see TO as being enough of an upgrade over Thomas, Kelly, or Moss to justify bringing him and risking him becoming a distraction.
Id rather trade Landry and Kelly for Marshall or swap first rounders with the Broncos and send Kelly to Denver for Marshall. |

If they bring in T.O. or Marshall I would be happy. No more 8 man in the box against the Skins.
|
Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
I think it would be cool to have Moss, T.O., Marshall and Thomas to learn from these vets and then Marko as a fifth, Trade Kelly

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
You guys are funny.
But as a point T.O.'s attitude was not that bad in Dallas either. He did what he was supposed to do and kept his mouth shut. In the end he got traded. The big question is how was he a problem there? Some team members did want to see him gone but not all. Now I hear a lot of them wish he was back. I think they held too much hope in Williams. In Buffalo he knew it was about showing he could be a team player. Again he kept his mouth shut and played the game. Even when the HC pretty much didn't utilize him during half the season. Plus he still kept his mouth shut. I'd say I think it's obvious if we can't pick up Marshell (which I don't know how we could) then yes to T.O. If some rumors are correct that AH is being offered in a trade for Marshell then lets see what happens but I just don't see it happening. T.O. is going to be cheaper but I think he is looking for either a 2 or 3 yr deal making about 6 mill a yr. I would offer a 2 yr deal (with an out if he becomes a problem) worht about 4 or 5 mill. |

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
Trade Kelly, and swap 1sts for Marshall, Sign T.O..........Draft Okung and Our offense is top 10 if all goes well. I think we would have a powerhouse offense and a great defense like we usually do!

Re: Did Mcnabb open the door for TO?
They may have kissed and made up, but I don't think Donovan wants to go down that road again.
I wonder what the issues really were. I know T.O. was mad because McNabb didn't throw to him a lot and maybe sometimes missed that he was open. But a more mature T.O. may have learned that Reid purposely didn't want the ball to him on certain plays. In other words trying to get other WR's in the scheme of things. T.O. may not have understood things were happening behind the scene's. Perhaps McNabb was being pressured by the HC or above to get other players involved. So McNabb looks off T.O. and throws elsewhere. I don't know. I think in the Shanahan team we will see enough ball to go around even though its supposed to be a running team. I too want to see Thomas, Kelly, and Mitchell do well, but the only one close to being a starter is Thomas and thats stretching it a bit. Hixon truly screwed them. We need to fill ARE's void anyway. If Marshall is not available then I'd take T.O. |

I like your thinking, but will it work with Denver? Okung might not be in our plans anyway since there are OT that are better in zone blocking. Defense still scares me. Don't get me wrong we have talent. It's proven by us being top 5 several years. I'm concerned about the fact that we are changing to a 3-4 (which I like better) and not having the personel to run it or if we do the personel needs to learn their rolls. I think there will be a small learning curv. If we can be top 10 even I think we made out. |

Controversy with Eagles
During his weekly Philadelphia sports radio show on WIP (AM) prior to the game against the Dallas Cowboys, Owens stated if he could return to the 2004 off-season he would not have signed with the Eagles. After the Dallas game, in which the Eagles were badly beaten, Owens was seen by Philadelphia Daily News reporters wearing a Michael Irvin throwback football jersey on the way to the Eagles airplane flight. Irvin was a hall-of-fame wide receiver for the Cowboys during the '90s when the Cowboys-Eagles rivalry was perhaps the most intense. As a result, Owens's appearance in the jersey was seen as provocative in the Philadelphia press and by many fans. According to sources and Andy Reid's post-game press conference, none of Owens's teammates or coaches challenged him. The following Friday, on Owens's radio show, he stated he did not care what the fans thought of him wearing the jersey and that he would wear what he chooses. It is well known that Owens and Irvin are good friends. On November 3, 2005, Hugh Douglas, former Philadelphia Eagles Defensive End, acting as an ambassador for team management, started to have an argument with Owens in front of the team in the locker room before practice. Soon, this led to a short fight between the two.[22] That afternoon Owens made a number of controversial statements during an ESPN interview. In the interview, Owens voiced his frustrations of the Eagles not recognizing his 100th career TD. He referred to the Eagles as a classless organization for the way they behaved. The Eagles have since stated that the Club does not recognize individual achievements. When asked whether or not he agreed with a comment made by ESPN analyst and good friend Michael Irvin, Owens agreed to the statement, saying that he thought the Eagles would be undefeated if Brett Favre were on the team instead of Donovan McNabb. Owens went on to expand on the point, calling Brett Favre a warrior. Many people took offense at this, since it appeared as though Owens was claiming that McNabb, who was playing with a sports hernia among other injuries, was not a warrior. This interview effectively ended Owens's career in Philadelphia. During his weekly news conference the following day, Eagles head coach Andy Reid said that Owens had been suspended for four games—starting with the 17-10 loss to the Washington Redskins on November 6—for conduct detrimental to the team. The four games represented the maximum amount of time that a player could be suspended without pay for such conduct under NFL rules. After Owens served his suspension, the Eagles deactivated him from their roster for the remainder of the season, so that they wouldn't be forced to release him and let him sign on with another team.[23] On November 8, Terrell Owens and his agent Drew Rosenhaus held a news conference at Owens's Moorestown, New Jersey residence. Terrell apologized to the team (including Donovan McNabb) and the fans. After Owens read his statement, Rosenhaus answered questions from reporters. However, Rosenhaus answered many questions, such as "What have you done for T.O. besides get him suspended?" with a "next question." He blamed the media for Owens's current employment status. In his autobiography, "T.O.", Owens did state that most of the apology was forced upon him and not sincere. On the grounds that deactivation cannot be used as a means of punishment, the NFLPA and Owens appealed the Eagles punishment to an arbitrator. On November 23, 2005, Terrell Owens's season was effectively ended after arbitrator Richard Bloch ruled that the Eagles were justified in suspending him for four games and that they did not have to activate him after the suspension (the Eagles would deactivate him game by game, with pay, for the final five games of the season, but that so long as he was paid, he was not technically suspended). The NFLPA subsequently said they would make sure Bloch never arbitrated with them again. I think he wants a ring more than stats now and I also think we give him the best option to win a Super Bowl. He wants to be a HOF one day so being a team player and cleaning up his image is priority. What better way to clean up his image than getting back with the individual you ultimately fell out with and try another Super Bowl run. |

Crap I forgot what I was mainly going to ask..... shortheimerz. Basically we would have Moss Marshall T.O. Thomas Kelly Mitchell Do we keep all or do we let someone go? and who? Honestly at this point I like Mitchell over Kelly. Even looking at him in the voluntary work outs he looks like he has filled out and put on more muscle. I just have a bad feeling about Kelly now. |

I don't know if I should respond to this thread. If people think T.O. will be the best receiver ever, there's nothing i can do.
I think it's hilarious that the only QB's that he DIDN'T cause problems for was Steve Young and Trent Edwards and that was only because he couldn't argue about not getting the ball enough when Jerry Rice was on the team and with Trent he just wanted a chance to keep his job as he got older. He threw Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb, Drew Bledsoe, and Tony Romo under the bus and threw hissy fits and so forth, but each time he moved everyone thought, "Oh, well that won't happen here!" then looked all surprised when it did. But hey, Nobody likes when i bring up the past, so... YAY! LET'S GET T.O.!!! He and McNabb could NEVER have problems! This is a guaranteed win! No chance of exploding in our faces at all! |

It's a tough argument. I mean... if you look at his stats, unlick Donovan or Jason or Santana... the man's numbers are just so constant. if you jsut look at the numbers, the man is amazing! My biggest issue for him is this... it's not how many catches you make, it's if you make the catches that count! As a Redskins fan i'm sure you remember games where Shawn Springs made him a non factor, but you also remember the games where we only won because he dropped crucial passes on 3rd down. If you make 15 catches for 150 yards, but drop the 10 yarder needed to stay in or win the game, the other catches just don't seem to matter. 36 is ancient for a reciever you know. even the original "Over the hill gang" would be like "Yeah, he's a little old" |

But as someone else said I think he's wanting a ring now or atleast for the past 4 yrs. He's pretty much been a model player. Done what was asked of him. I can't imagine any player not getting the recognition they deserve. Could you guys see Art Monk making mile stones in his career and the Redskins simply over looking it? Not making a big deal out of it? Not posting it on the jumbo tron? I could see why T.O. would be pissed off. So in turn he wears a jersey just to piss off management, the HC, fellow players, and the fans. What better way to get back at all of them then to wear you best friends jersey? I'm not saying it wouldn't make waves here either since it's a Dallas jersey, but any other jersey of a player who did well and made it in the HOF would you care or would you look at it as a respect thing? T.O. did it on purpose cause of the classless place Philli is. Hell they practically strip searched a female going through the airport cause she was wearing a Dallas jersey, then commented to her asking how it felt wearing a Dallas jersey in Philli....after the search. |

I still like this idea we definitly would be SB contenders then or close to it. If nothing else it would make for a nice nightmare for other teams to have to cover. |
