Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Schefter is reporting it now. To the Fins for a 2nd in 2010 and a 2nd in 2011.
Needs to pass a physical first, not official yet |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
The Dolphins were a last minute dark horse candidate. I'm not too surprised but it still is a bit of a shock
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Both Sportscenter and Schefter have tweeted it in the last couple of minutes.
I'm pretty surprised that Parcells would make this type of move, but it makes sense given that they're not too high on Ted Ginn. |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
from Schefter's blog:
Now, in just over one year, Denver has recouped an impressive two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a third-round pick and quarterback Kyle Orton in exchange for Jay Cutler and Marshall. They are two big deals for what were two of Denver's best players. But Denver now heads into next Thursday's draft armed with three picks in the top two rounds - but with another hole to fill at wide receiver.
That's a lot of quality picks for those two players. It will be interesting to see what they can do with them. |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
I imagine that Miami most certainly had their eyes on the Jets cornerback situation. Will be a quality matchup between Revis and Marshall two times a year.
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Give us their 3rd for Santana Moss :)
Revis vs. Marshall twice a year is going to be awesome |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Sure seems like Denver could throw a couple of picks our way!
Kudos to Schefter again for breaking the news, he tweeted at 3am about keeping coaches hours, and certainly seems like he is the source for anything and everything going down in the NFL. (no offense to you SS) |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Two second round picks, glad the skins didn't pull the trigger on this one, not like we actual had the ammo to do it.
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
No surprise here. Miami had been mentioned a few times. 2 2nd rounders is a steep price IMO but this gives Miami much needed firepower for Henne.
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
I was wondering if the Skins were even eligible to sign him to an offer sheet? Since we have no 2nd round pick this year could we've offered a contract & then if Denver didn't match it would we be able to give the 2nd round pick (per his tender w/Denver) in 2011?
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
i am glad that he isnt coming here. i am excited to see what our young guys can do with a new qb and a (hopefully) bolstered oline.
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Pats fans can't be happy!! The jets and dolphins are going to be tough to beat this yr

First thing I thought of when I heard it earlier on Mike and Mike. We don't need a WR that badly. Pats looking at 3rd-place now. :D Oh, an my condolences to TheBackupKicker. |

Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
is there a quality qb to throw to marshal in miami

Henne looked alright playing with garbage WRs. He'll look a hell of a lot better, now. He probably becomes a borderline starting fantasy QB. |

Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
BLOWN.....shitty way to start the morning.....I REALLY wanted us to land Marshall. Oh well, we didnt have the ammo I guess. We still need another WR to replace Randel El. Hope we go after T.O.

Now that's what I am talkin about! :food-smil |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Good deal for both teams, and at least it doesn't involve any NFC East rivals. Dolphins may deal Ginn now, and Denver probably picks up a Wr in the 2nd round. Good draft for receivers.
Seriously, Adam Schefter is kicking Glazer, Mort, King and the NFL networks tail. Is anybody else even trying? |

That was a Jerry Jones move. Parcells didn't want him. |

Where is Backupliquoredup Kicker? I thought he had the scoop on this!??!

I don't see it as very steep personally. |

nope.. just breaking nfl schedules! har har j/k |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins

me neither. we spent two second rounders on two WRs hoping one of them would pan out. WR is a very hard position to draft. its certainly worth two 2nd rounders, especially when one of them is in 2010, making it valued as a 2010 3rd. |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Denver and Pittsburgh will be competing for the Dez Bryant, Golden Tate picks in the draft.
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
All this talk about Marshal I would like to see what Marko Mitchel could do after the new offseason conditioning program and coaching from McCardell. If given the chance he has shown that he has the skills to produce in this league
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
Great move for the dolphins now they have a great 1, 2, 3 receiver combo with Marshall, Bess, and Hartline. I'm not counting on Ginn cause he's a bust, receiver wise.
|
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
^ Agreed about our Mitchell. I think he'll end up playing a nice roll this year. We need to prepare for the future without Moss. Sure, use him while he's still here, but get Marko and Malcolm ready to step in.
I could honestly see Marko becoming more productive than Malcolm Kelly longterm. |

How is a 2010 2nd valued as a 2010 3rd? |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
I just realized, this deal included a 2011 pick. there may not even be a draft in 2011!
I would think Denver included a provision for some compensation to account for this, otherwise the Tuna got Marshall for a 2nd. |

I was wondering the same thing |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
I saw this on NFL.com and nearly blew my coffee everywhere. I had no idea Miami was a serious contender for him. Maybe it was a steep price because he's a headcase, but I can't imagine not having conduct clauses in there.
My fiancee (diehard Skins fan which is why I belong to this site) thinks this was a bad move. He thinks Henne is terrible. I disagree. To loosely quote Rex Ryan, "We made that guy look like Dan Marino". Not too shabby against Revis with a no name receiving core. (Sorry. Had to give my :twocents: because nobody is answering their phone so I can't pass on my exciting news. Well, except my fiancee who brought me down by bashing Henne.) |

Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
I wonder is Ginn will be traded or outright released?

He hasn't shown much if anything more than Anthony Mix did, except that he hasn't gotten caught banging a 15 year old. Not to say that he can't. |

well, I'm sure that he just meant that next year's is currently valued a bit less like you see how some people suggest instead of a 2nd this year, offer a 1st next year, etc |
Re: Report: Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins
4 years, $47.5 million is Marshall's new deal. $24 million guaranteed
