Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
The Commish did the right thing.
I wonder if the reason for 4-6 and not a straight 4 or 6 is to allow for the daily facts that keep popping up and the uncertainty about the police involvement in the case. The cop who took the report resigned and from what I understand, his "bodyguards" who were watching the bathroom door were off-duty police picking up some extra pay on the side. It may get much worse for Ben before it is resolved. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
should be 4 games if he can manage to show up to his appointments and not rape somebody right?
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
They bring Leftwich in for a 7th rounder. Good move and good decision by Goodell.
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
I wanted to see 8 games. But per Adam Schefter, The steelers have begun contacting teams and are asking for a top 10 pick for Ben. They say at least one team is interested so far....

I wonder if Vegas is putting odds on that? |

Nice one buster....that pic needs a caption

Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
I was thinking 8 games at first as well, but I think 4-6 is the better and more logical choice considering he wasn't charged or convicted of anything. If he got suspended for 8, what do you do for someone that actually gets convicted? Done for the year at the minimum?

Ralph Wilson is desperate to get a SB before he dies. I'm putting my bets that it's the Bills. |

If that's the case, he shouldn't have hired Chan Gailey :laughing- |

No doubt, especially since he'd probably be in jail for a bit. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
It would be too great if Big Ben was exiled to Oakland.

This tweeter was on to something last night. RT @bdischy: Coincedence that PITT has 5 National TV games but 0 of their first 6 games? |

Yeah... Time to start really motivating teams not employ douche bags. Losing your starting QB for a year is a pretty good motivator. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
The commish had to give him 4 games at least IMO. I think he's sending a bit of an extra message w/the extra games pending further info.
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
The commish hasn't suspended Rothlisberger yet. He just said no decision has been made.
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
Good. I hope it's 6. Friggin slimeball.

Big deal, he's just supposed to be the one to announce it. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
It looks more and more likely that Ben will be traded before the draft tomorrow night....
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
Hypothetically, if Big Ben is traded to say Buffalo for their 1st rd pick...How likely is it that Pittsburgh will be willing to be trade partners with us?
If Bradford falls to the 4: a) should we trade the pick to Pittburgh for the 9th and the 50th (2nd round pick) b) go ahead and draft Bradford anyway c) draft Okung b/c he or Trent Williams won't be around at the 9th? What about Jason Campbell? Would they entertain trade offers for him for one of their picks? |

Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
It's official, 6 games, could be reduced to 4 based on his behavior during the suspension.
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
Six games, with the option to be reduce to four for good behavior.
He has to go to therapy and under go a full evaluation. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
So if Ben keeps his nose clean it's 4 games. I think that's fair.
|

It is fair. It is the right thing to do. The Steelers were going to punish if the NFL did not. I wonder if they will fine him? I guess the suspension is with out pay. That is a fine. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
I'm not sticking up for Roethlisberger but I'm struggling to see any justification for a ban.

You serious? A suspension doesn't require a conviction or jail time, he clearly violated the "personal conduct" regulations. He needs to sent a message to be responsible before he makes more bad decisions. His actions reflect very badly on all NFL players, brings negative attention to his team everywhere they go and is simply just despicable on a human level. This suspension is consistent with other players' punishments for violating the personal conduct code. To let him off would make the league and Commissioner look very hypocritical. The team said they'd punish him if the league didn't. |

Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
I find it funny that Tim Hasselbeck, who's married to Elizabeth from the View, is taking a stand for Ben on account that he hasn't been formerly charged.
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
^ Saw that. I really hate hearing a continuing catch phrases used by the media, including Tim Hasselback, "poor judgement" and the other "making bad desicions".
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
So I did my best GTripp impression and it turns out if Ben was a baseball player he would have been banned for a minimum of 40 games and a maximum of 61 games.
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
I was expecting 3, so 4 is a tough penalty in my opinion. I also think there is quite a bit more that we don't know about, Ben sounds like he has some real problems. The Steelers could realistically be 1-3 by their break, and have 2 weeks to let Ben rejoin the team before their 5th game. Playoffs might be tough to make for Pittsburgh this year.
If I was Buffalo or Oakland, I would jump at the chance for Roethlisberger for just a 1st round pick. If he does straighten out, he should be a Hall-of-Famer. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
I expected Ben to get some form of punishment from the Commish but not 4-6 games since he wasn't charged or convicted. It demonstrates he's holding true to his word about getting serious with problem players. He may have gotten an indefinite suspension had he been actually convicted.
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
I think Ben's rap sheet looks a lot worse behind closed doors then what we know.
I think the Steelers will deal him today. San Francisco or Seattle. |
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
Does Tim Tebow look like a potential Steeler now?
|
Re: Big Ben gets 4-6 games
Article says, "Someone identified only as "a close friend of a Steelers player" said that the reason Roethlisberger had a bodyguard was because of an incident where a man put a gun to Roethlisberger's head because Roethlisberger was involved with the man's girlfriend."
