Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
PER CSN: WR Bobby Wade has been signed.
Not sure if anyone has heard this as well. |
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
Damn!! Is TO next? They are signing everyone under the sun, it's like Obama's stimulus plan under way with the Redskins.
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
More competition, good stuff. Apparently they haven't already written Mitchell in as the number 5 like some people here have :silly:
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
Breaking News : The Redskins have also signed Freddie Mitchell! OK JK LOL
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
I wonder why he's signing so many receivers? Does this mean one of our young guys could be potentially cut?

Beginning to look like surplus competition ha!!....Wade has made a few rounds since 2003, his best years were the two he spent with the Vikings. We have more receivers now than we do D/L...will be interesting to see how all this competition plays out. |
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
shows what shanny thinks of our current WR corps i guess. just waiting for next year when we draft either of the following:
aj green julion jones micheal floyd jonathon baldwin (pitt) all would be studly |
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
Too many older FA Wrs in here for just competition in my view. You want to increase the competition just sign a bunch of undrafted guys. I think to be honest that the Shanny/Allen faction does not like the look of our WR corp. It is time to take off the blinders and to quit sipping the Kool Aid with these guys I guess. My guess is Kelly might be the only one safe if they indeed were looking to shop around Thomas. Mitchell is definitely under the gun. IF the FO thought the WR corp was set they wouldn't have signed so many WRs just for competition. They don't like what they see as a whole.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears selected Wade in the fifth round of the 2003 NFL Draft. His best season with the team came in 2004 when he caught forty-two passes for 481 yards. In 2005, Wade saw more playing time as a punt returner and scored the first touchdown of his career during the second week of the 2005 season. 2005 also saw 10 fumbles on the season by Wade, including four fumbles in one game.[2] He was released by the Bears late in the 2005 season. The NFL.com stats only state 10 receptions all season, and apparently 33 punt returns. That would mean he fumbled 23% of the time he touched the ball. That's almost like playing for the other team. He'd be the perfect receiver for Rex Grossman. <grin> Camp fodder, definitely not there in September. We just need more competition, bodies in practice and older football players to mentor the young ones. May motivate people more if they think their job is on the line. |
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
He's a 4th or 5th WR at best. Shit, he's a Redskin now, and his player profile on NFL.com currently has him listed a KC Chief, and he's wearing a Minnesota uniform in his profile pic. Pretty much all you need to know about this signing.

I don't know where this rumor started but the only people I hear talking about it was fans on the message boards. I did see and hear through the media that Kelly was being shopped, but that was back when they were looking into Marshall and possibly a package trade for him. |

Maybe it's Kelly? or R.Williams Hagan Armstrong Galloway Just saying. |

I heard speculation that the Skins could trade Kelly or include him in that.. but Smoot is the only one that I've seen say that he actually was talked about |

Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
why the hell did we sign galloway
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
Wow, this is bad news for Mitchell. He'll have to prove he's better than Kelly or DT or beast on ST. It's obvious Shanahan doesn't like our current WR's.
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
Signing both Galloway and Wade has me wondering if one of our other WRs is hurt and we just don't know about it. Maybe there's someone who won't be participating in mini-camp and just a little in training camp so we need bodies.
Though I can certainly see Wade cracking the final roster |
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
any possibility that it's more for return duties? He did that back in Chicago. His fumbles would worry me in that regard tho.
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
Competition folks, you sign all these guys to make it through all the camps. I know everyone wants to over analyze every move, but sometimes a move is just a move. It doesn't mean TO is coming, Moss is getting cut, AH is getting traded, and Colt is the new starter. Chiiiiiilllllllll
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
I like that Shanny is backing up his words about open competition in camp. I have noticed a couple trends though, they used several picks in the draft on O line, but the fa signings (aside from Hicks, Buchanon) have mainly been D line & WR. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just going from memory.

Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
Sign 'em all and let God sort it out.
Or for you atheists: Sign 'em all and let Science figure it out. For everyone else: Sign 'em all and reach a mutually agreeable consensus that doesn't make you feel uncomfortable. Seriously, this is one of those "so what signings". He makes it - great. He doesn't - fine. Does it have a deeper meaning as to how the Skins few Kelly or Thomas? Probably not. Even if it does, do we have any hope doing more than guessing what that meaning is? Nope. |

Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
This & other wr signings does pose an issue w/that unit; who plays spec. teams? Hate to say it, but Marko might not have a job if he can't do something on teams. I wouldn't think they'd continue to use DT on teams a lot if he's starting, but they might.
I recall that Shanny signed Jerry Rice when he was 40 or so. I remember some saying that Rice would be the #4, which usually has to play teams. I don't remember anything about Rice in Denver after that, but this signing reminded me of it. |

With competition, none of these guys can afford to adopt that "I've got it made" attitude or that their position on the team is safe. |
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
I dont see Galloway providing serious competition for any of the top 3 guys on our current depth chart and i can't see the team keeping a guy that old on the 53man roster as a 4th or 5th WR. wade could make a push, but i dont see us keeping both him and moss. Shanahan prefers tall athletic WRs so i doubt we'd keep both Moss and Wade. Then again, i don't really know anything, but Smoots speculation that one of our WRs (probably Kelly) may be hurt makes the most sense to me.

Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
i think they're just trying to bring in bodies at the WR position. Most of them will be weeded out at the end of camp

no that's Westbrook. TO should be insulted by the skins. This have totally ignored him and sign less quality WR on top of it. |

Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
^not sayin that, but it would suck if you made every effort to be somewhere and they basically tell you to f-off without even mentioning u.
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
How is TO making every effort?
|
Re: Skins Sign WR Bobby Wade
He has made it known through media outlets more than others, that for sure.
