Madden 2011
First real article I have seen about the game. Some big stuff this year with play calling!

Re: Madden 2011
Not sure I really dig the idea of simplifying the playcalling. I guess that's good for the casual fans, but I'll probably turn that mode off.
The dual stick control definitely sounds interesting. |
Re: Madden 2011
I think I may PS3 it this year.

Re: Madden 2011
I actually kind of like this idea. I always LOVED playing Madden, but hated the fact that it took over an hour to play 1 game....hopefully this makes it more fun.

That's actually a pretty good point, if I'm destroying a team, I may just turn that mode on and roll through the rest of the game EDIT: I know that point's made in the article, but I just though of this |
Re: Madden 2011
I thought of it this way, instead of playing madden as the head coach when it came to play calling you are playing as the QB, the sideline calls in the play if you like it roll with it if not audible out. Apparently the play is called to you through your head set just like a QB gets it in his helmet.

Re: Madden 2011
Isn't this basically a spruced up version of "ask Madden"?
We'll see how it goes, I'm not against the idea. Looks like it could be fun as long as the AI works right. You can vote on plays you like or don't like so it will be called more or less often. Re: Madden 2011
I really hope they pick franchise mode. I always enjoyed picking players and creating a team more than playing games as well.
|
Re: Madden 2011
Get rid of the fumble scrum shit...I never get those fumbles when playing in All Madden difficulty.
|
Re: Madden 2011
Yeah the fumble scrum sucks, but you can turn that off you know.
I hope they get rid of those measuring for the 1st down cut screens or at least let you skip through them when they come up. |

I hope they get rid of those measuring for the 1st down cut screens or at least let you skip through them when they come up.
Yeah I despise those, they should allow you to skip them. I also hope they fixed the hurry up offense while you're in shotgun. It's really stupid now, you have to wait for the QB to kick up his leg twice before you can snap the ball. I hate it. Also during kickoff, you should be able to cycle through your players when you're kicking the ball. |

Wouldn't be bad to see what worked well in the game. Turbo is now turned off by default, but you can add it back on. I still can't quite get the 2 joystick thing down, but I don't own any of the systems so that's probably why, just lack of practice. |

Yeah, I agree. Franchise is basically the only reason why I buy Madden, and they haven't had a respectable franchise mode since PS2. |
Re: Madden 2011
Is it coming back to PC?

I like the look of the new game planning feature and considering they've cut the game time in half without sacrificing the amount of plays you run, I think that's definitely a good thing. Seems that they're just cutting out a lot of the unnecessary junk in between plays. I think they made a good point that in real life a coach doesn't bring his entire playbook into a game, he brings a gameplan that's just a portion of the entire playbook. They've managed to simplify the game yet add some depth at the same time. |
Re: Madden 2011
Any reason for the Cornershop song in the usertitle? I know that their album just came out in the U.S. recently, though it was out last year in England. I forgot that I had dl'd it.

My second 360 red ring of deathed just in time for demo day. So far I'm batting 100 percent for my career on broken XBOX's. Love the games, love Live, but seriously, what a hunk of junk the machine is. The most frustrating part is that they replaced my first broken XBOX with a machine that had the same hardware defect, even though a non-defective machine had been developed already at that time. Anyway, end rant as the kids say. Someone let me know how the demo is since I won't be playing it anytime soon. |

I like the demo, not bad, will take a little getting use to, but over all I didn't hate it.

Freaking Gus Johnson doing the play by play? AWESOME!

They have been doing this for years in the NCAA video games, and what only two teams have fight songs right? Not too hard. |

I liked the overall feel of the demo except for the audibles. I like how NCAA and previous Madden's have offered the option of switching my line, lb, and secondary coverage more smoothly with each section of the defense being assigned to a button on the controller instead of the new way where I have to cycle through the menu just using the d-pad. I found I never had the time to make it through the process to ever adjust my defense to do what I wanted. As long as I can switch that option I'll be good to go, but if not that's going to take quite a bit of getting used to. Also a minor issue, anyone else find it weird that after so many years of the kicking game using the thumbstick that they switched to the old school tiger woods style of pressing the A/X button 3 times? |
Re: Madden 2011
Is Collinworthless still there? I have yet to meet one person that likes anything this guy has to say.

He is, although with Gus Johnson is easy to tune him out. Well, so far I like what I see in the game. The player's locomotion seem to be pretty realistic. I need to shake off trying to use the same buttons from Madden '10, since there are some changes. I like the gameplans, and I will look forward to building those. Glad they got rid of the stupid measurement cut-in...well they're still there, but you can get rid of them quickly. I look forward to playing with the Redskins. :) |

Same boat, I had to do it twice. I think the biggest saver right now is that I plug it start into the wall not a surge protector. though to be honest as far as over all machines my PS3 just runs circles around the Xbox. The PS3 really does everything, I strongly suggest folks pick it up for $300 it really is a no brainier. |
Re: Madden 2011
I hate it when they change up the buttons, seems pretty clear they're trying to cater more to the casual fan. I don't mind the change to the kicking, it was almost too easy.
All the pre-snap adjustments are now apparently mapped to the d-pad, and the early reviews aren't good Madden 11 Demo Raises Concerns With Strategy Pad | GoMadden |

Well, for whatever reason MS Japan kept sending me defective units, which I would then have to turn around and send right back again, so I ended up shipping the thing like 3 or 4 times. Anyway, everytime I rolled up to the post office carrying that green box the nerdy Japanese post office guy would smile at me and shake his head: "See, you should've bought Sony Playstation. Japanese machine no break! America no good!" I was so embarrassed the last time I sent it, I honestly don't think that guy had ever been happier to see a customer. This was pre-Toyota of course, he would probably have less to say now :) |
Re: Madden 2011
Both times I had to ship mine back the people at UPS knew exactly what I was shipping just from seeing the box as I walked in the door. One of the employees actually yelled out here comes another Xbox.
|
Re: Madden 2011
I beleive I had to ship mine to Texas each time. A lady in my office son's just broke and now you have to pay for shipping.
UPS made a lot of money on broken Xboxs. |
Re: Madden 2011
I heard Microsoft actually built the repair center next to a UPS shipping center to cut down on costs.
