New Redskins Numbers
Here are the numbers which the newly acquired redskins will wear this fall:
18 Austin, Terrence 60 Capers, Selvish 94 Carriker, Adam 58 Cook, Erik 84 Galloway, Joey 41 Morris, Dennis (Kareem Moore also wears 41; this number will probably change) 53 Riley, Perry 32 Russell, Anderson 19 Wade, Bobby 87 Williams, Roydell 72 Williams, Trent |
Re: New Redskins Numbers
Damn, I thought they might have unofficially retired Chris Samuels' number. At least for a few years
|
Re: New Redskins Numbers
I think they will definitely retire it but not right away -- like you said a few more years.
|
Re: New Redskins Numbers
Joey Galloway wearing Clarks 84?? Capers wearing 60?? do i have room to get pissed here or is it a complete overreaction??????????? probably just no big deal.
|
Re: New Redskins Numbers
Sometimes I think people forget that there are only 99 usable numbers, and they are very restricted by position.

I was thinking that also, rather surprising to see his number re-issued so soon. |

If they did not retire Joe Jacoby's #66, I doubt they will retire Samuels number. |

Did you have an issue with Marko Mitchell wearing #84? |

I wish the NFL would stop that. It is lame the reason they give for restricting numbers at certain positions. |

Re: New Redskins Numbers
Morris wore 49 at LaT strange he gets same jersey number as Moore...maybe Kareem gets pinked slipped like others today!

It's not uncommon for players to double up on numbers before the season. |

no.. he meant the other way around like nobody would wear 60 for a handful of years as a tribute just no 21s and I'll be okay |

yep, not everyone's gonna make it |
Re: New Redskins Numbers
Only one Offically retired is 33 , although I would never want to see anyone wear #28 again unless D. Green comes back.

Oh, I thought 44 was also officially retired. I wouldn't want to see a scrub get the #44 unless he is the #1 rated RB out of college. |

i think about that all the time. we can only covet numbers for so long, before they are needed again. i am all about recognizing greatness, but new guys flying around in 84 doesnt bother me. |
Re: New Redskins Numbers
agree.
as long as no one's runnin around in 81 i cant get too fussed about it.
agree, i would add 44, 28 and 21 |
Re: New Redskins Numbers
Isn't 67 available?

Right now he's our starting FS, so I don't think so, especially with LaRon as our starting SS... (and Doughty is a SS as well as Horton) |

Never saw the kid on the field, missed the preseason games and refused to watch the last half of the season, i Didnt even know he had it. |
Re: New Redskins Numbers
I think every number should be allowed to be worn, except for the only officially retired number of course, #33. This whole thing with unofficially retiring numbers is getting silly. It should be officially retired or in active circulation, no in between. There are plenty of ways to honor players, put their name in the ring of honor and move on.

Re: New Redskins Numbers
So right now we have...
#11 Thomas #12 Kelly #13 Armstrong #18 Austin #19 Wade #83 Hagans #84 Galloway #87 R.Williams #89 Moss They should have gave Hagans #17. That way we would have had an 11,12,13, then 17, 18, 19. Then made Galloway #88 so we would have had 87, 88, and 89. |

yup. add 81 and 28 and maybe a couple others and then be done with it. |

Re: New Redskins Numbers
i guess i wont start another thread to discuss numbers and retiring them, etc...
but here's my new Redskins column: What's in a Number? please click and share on Facebook or wherever you share stuff... i really want to show RF365 that redskin fans are everywhere and that Skins content brings the pageviews, thanks! and thanks to 44ever, as i used his list of the "unofficial" retired numbers. |
Re: New Redskins Numbers
Ok, I've been having a heck of a time trying to get a name or two. I have been watching "Redskins Nation", well more like suffering through it but I do get to see video of the players practicing. In watching the camp footage they focused on the WR's at one point and there was a really, really, really small WR who ran a curl route. He looked crisp, fast and fluid. The footage was on Fri night in regards to Fridays camp during the second camp.
Then while watching last night I noticed about 4 really short WR's. I have figured out two but I'm missing two 13- Anthony Armstrong 18- Terrence Austin 15- ? 20- ? I think #20 is who I observed in the video. I know 15 is supposed to be C.Brennan, and 20 is supposed to be Justin Tryon, but the video was definitly WR's with the QB's throwing to them so I know it must be invites who were given numbers to wear. |

When you first came to the board I thought you were a Raiders fan inquiring about JC. Then you came up with this "what do Skins fans think is good and bad about JC" thread. I got the impression the info would be used to enlighten Raider fans on their boards. I then see it was somewhat nicely done as if a professional writer had simply wrote an article. So nows the big question... are you trying to become an independant writer and get your articles published in places like SI, ESPN, NFL.com, etc. etc. or are you simply a Raider fan? I'm kinda confused. I mean if you a beat writer or trying I guess I can understand why your hanging out collecting info from board members and using it in articles, or are you simply trying to start your own web page and trying to get as many people to click on your site as possible in order to get paid? |
