Raiders release JaMarcus Russell

Well it happened. I thought it would be a good thread given that JC is over there and a lot of the discussions of draft busts we had around here.

What a waste of talent and money...I hope Shanahan doesn't take a look at this bum.

We already let Pacman slip away. If we don't sign JaMarcus, there's no hope.

Bronco fan? Couldn't you have picked a winning team like the Saints or Colts? I'd even understand it if you said the Dolphins.

I wouldn't exactly call the Saints a (Winning) franchise...

NO WAY Russell comes to the Skins, in fact I think he will just call it quits anyway.

18 Td's 23 iNT'S in his career, 65 Passer RTNG. YUCK!

His cousin MarShawn Lynch is almost as bad as he is lol

JaMarcus can supersize it all he wants now at McDonalds and doesn't have to worry about the fan Gestapo keeping tabs on him when he goes to the candy section of the grocery store...until he runs out of money and needs loans or something similar to cover the cost a heart attack 20-30 years from now.

He'd have to compete against Bruce Campbell.

I'm sure he'd be better than Heyer, so let's bring him in.

Honestly, we could get him cheap as hell. Hey to carry the clipboard and see if the Shanahans' can rehabilitate him, why the hell not.

I want to say Adam Schein and Ross Tucker, but I was half listening half working (ok maybe half of a half working ;) ). But I had heard it the other day also and just shook my head. It was more of a yeah that would be a good fit, than oh yeah they need to get him now.

Sorry I can't say more accurately on the names.

I dont know what i would do if the skins got this POS. please stay on the west coast far as heck away from my team. I'd rather get sage rosenfels(sp) again.

No Vet min. Quarterback first round next year learns under donavan. IMO he would make one hell of a guard, but probably too slow to be a tackle.

I might if I were Buffalo but it would be a low-risk contract.

Re: Raiders release JaMarcus Russell

If McNabb stays healthy he can QB for 3 more years IMO. Dont need to worry about a QB right now, as much as we need to worry about McNabb's contract.

the one team that first comes to mind is the one that just cut him

maybe if he beats someone up Cincinnati can look at him

Why do you think that he'd make a good guard? He's probably got higher bodyfat than a lot of guards, probably not nearly as strong as most of them. He'd have to change his whole body, the weight isn't the only thing. At 6'6" he's kind of tall for a guard as well. Plus, he's spent all of his time trying to AVOID the DL, linebackers, etc. I've never seen anything that projects him as even a PROSPECT for guard.. or even tight end.

MTK 05-07-2010 08:21 AM

Re: Raiders release JaMarcus Russell

He should take a year off, hire a personal trainer, hire a QB guru to mentor him, and try to earn a shot at returning next year.

He is done in the NFL. Arena Football maybe or something similar, but I think we've seen the last of him in an NFL uniform...

Ok, one of the guys on Sirius NFL now is making the case for JaMarcus coming to learn under Shanahan/McNabb and be our 3rd stringer. I just don't buy it.

skinsfan69 05-07-2010 09:33 AM

Re: Raiders release JaMarcus Russell

the guy simply doesn't have the will to make it in the NFL. this is why pro days really mean nothing. russell had the best pro day ever yet turned out to be the biggest bust ever. his career is over but he still got 39 mil. hope he saved his $.

Ugh.

I doubt Shanahan wants to take on a mega-project like him. I wouldn't want a guy like that in the locker room either. Not that he's a bad guy from what I've read, but he's definitely a big time slacker.

I absolutely agree. I can't see MS wanting a guy who failed basically because he didn't want to work at his trade. Not even a little.

(it was Bob Papa, finally got a name yay)
