Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Wow, can you believe the selfish lazy attitude of this guy. Bellicheck ought to cut his ass TODAY:
Monday Morning QB-Peter King
... Last year was pretty disappointing in a lot of ways, obviously. Losing to Baltimore the way we lost in the playoffs, losing leads late, losing on the road. Every year is so different, and the way we approach this year will be extremely important. We need to see the toughness. We need to see the commitment. Can we take the coaching?'' Brady will hear a lot of questions about his commitment, now that he's spending so much time in Los Angeles. Hs goal in the offseason used to be to win the prized parking spot given to the most dedicated player in the offseason program. Now his family goals take precedence, and because his older son (he shares custody), lives in Los Angeles, he feels he has to be in southern California more. He made it clear he's not going to give short-shrift to either of his sons, and if he has to work on his own for a good part of the offseason, away from his teammates, so be it. ...
|
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Well this makes sense. He has already won rings and is a baller, he feels the need to spend his time on family related issues.
I think that is acceptable. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Of course to put it in context, the last comment on it by Brady seems to sum up the AH saga in my mind as well:
Ultimately, what it comes down to is this: We've all got to be ready to play.''
|
Well this makes sense. He has already won rings and is a baller, he feels the need to spend his time on family related issues.
I think that is acceptable.
Wait, his team didn't really play good late last year, he is one year removed from major injury, and all these other things we would hear if he were on our team. I agree it's acceptable, but let's also realize EVERY team has players who aren't at these camps, and yes this was a back-handed way to say get off AH's back. With that vent out, I understand if the mods lock or merge this thread. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
His children should come before anything else. Good for him. Obviously you posted this as a parallel to Haynesworth's stuff. I don't think there's much of a comparison. Haynesworth is a fat lazy loser who doesn't want to do offseason work with the team because he thinks he deserves to be traded. He's a malcontent jackoff IMO. Can't stand the guy.
AH will start getting the benefit of the doubt from me when he carries us to two Super Bowls like Brady. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady

Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Great point GMScud, after AH starts winning he can get away with things without scrutiny.
Also I think this is a legitimate debate. He was hurt, didn't play well last season, etc. I side with the family however. Just how I feel. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
They should trade his ass but who would want a malcontent like that? The dude's a cancer and a disruption to his team! For the kind of money he's making he should LIVE at the practice facility. He epitomizes the term "Spoiled, selfish, athlete". Bastard! Man these guys piss me off!

Saying that he wants to train on his own because he admits last season wasn't his best (yet he still was prob one of the best defensive player in a unit that wasn't coached that well)? Saying that he would be best suited to play DE and not NT in the 3-4, and that he'll play whatever the team tells him to do anyway? Are you saying that AH's situation is worst than when Shawn Springs completely disappearing during the offseason a few seasons ago? Or the Miami players on this team training on their own because they felt like it? Like I said, people need to get over the 100 mil stuff. Personally, I wish Haynesworth was training with the team, however, I don't think this is the worst thing that could be happening with the team. You know what I think is worst than this? Changing to the 3-4 and creating a whole bunch of needs on team that didn't have many draft picks. But still, I'm willing to give MS the benefit of the doubt. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Family will be there long after the fans forget your name and the luster of Lombardi trophies wear off. The most impoirtant thing a man can do is be a father to his children. Tom Brady should not face any criticism for this AT ALL. He is a proven winner (3 times) and has never shown up out of shape or unprepared. I congratulate rady for seeing what truly is most important.
|
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Both Brady and Haynesworth should be working out with their teams, but until these camps are mandatory there's nothing you can do.
|
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
I don't necessarily agree with the OP. Brady has family. Kids. He wants to spend time with them. That is usually noble. He knows the plays. Perhaps only a hand full of plays will be new to him so when he comes back in June for mandatory camp he can learn those new plays. In the mean time it gives the back ups time to practice and the O-line someone to practice with.
As far as AH.... you all do know his home is in Tenn. He has a wife and kids also. Yes he just had a few months off but if he were to be here for the last month and a half working out like the rest then when was he supposed to see his family? I honestly don't see the situation differently. Brady's kids as well as AH's kids are in school right now. If both want to see or be with their kids now is the time cause pretty soon (next month) mandatory camp starts for both and then they are into the season. Yes, AH's family will then be on summer break and hopefully be able to visit him here, but then school starts back up in Sept. They will have to go back. No different then Brady's situation. Except brady is divorced? I don't like that AH is not here also but as long as he is not breaking any rules (which he's not) then I find it hard to fault or condemn the man. The league, owners, and players union agreed to these rules and although times have changed the rules have not. You know what happens when you don't like the rules.... you change them. Until the league or owners change the rules then AH is only exercising is rights which were faught for by his players union. Of all people the union people should understand this most of all. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
how the hell is albert haynesworth being compared to tom brady?
Brady has won superbowls for the patriots. he knows the offense inside and out. he's a high character guy and he's skipping voluntary activities to be with his son. as someone many look to as a role model, tom brady's absence from the patriots minicamp sends the RIGHT message to public about what a persons priorities should be. Haynesworth has never won anything. people have questioned his drive and work ethic his entire career. he stomped on a guys face. dan snyder just wrote him a 22MM check. he's skipping voluntary activities because he disagrees with how the coaching staff wants to use him. he's also reportedly trying to force a trade. as someone who many people could look to as a role model, haynesworth is sending out only one message - "i'm a jack ass!" a players absence from volutary activities isnt the issue - its his motivations for being absent and how that affects the unity of a team. i'm sure alot of guys on the patriots team wish tom brady was there. however, i garauntee you they all respect the man. |

Clearly you did not look at my valuable custom User Title. This was witty cynicism at its finest. Tom Brady should no more be cut then AH. But I imagine, without looking that somewhere in the blogospher, vbbulletin world, is a thread and page of a Patriots fans who believe that Tom Brady ought to be at camp first as he always was. |

The QB should be there but as we saw last year w/ Farve the top guys probably don't need it. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Has Brady shown up for Pats minicamps and OTA's and then gone back to LA? Before we can make a solid comparison between AH and Brady, we need to know that.
Put differently, AH would bother people much less if he showed up for minicamp days and then disappeared again. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady

It wasn't his best year but if Jason Campbell put up those numbers then he'd still be here. You can't compare Brady's situation vs. AH's. One guy just showed up out of shape and didn't play up to his potential. Brady year in and year out is a top QB and plays the most important position on the field. Although Brady should be there he gets the bendfit over AH by a mile. |

I don't see Albert Haynesworth bailing on his pregnant girlfriend for some Brazilian supermodel

Great post!! Family comes first and if he's there for his son who's mother is not his wife but an old squeeze, that is even more commendable for Tom. |

lol, however, didn't they breakup before she was pregnant? if not, that was a pretty douchy thing to do. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Look, a lot of us weren't crazy about signing AH to begin with. I was one of them. The guy has enormous talent but also has some baggage. He was promised alot of things to get him here I'm sure. He wants to go down as the best tackle in history, then, as usual, Blache misuses him which pisses him off. Now they're completely changing the scheme and want him to play a new position. Should he just accept it, come into camp and give it a shot? Sure. Did you really expect him to with no problem? It's ALBERT HAYNESWORTH. It's this kind of stuff that was the cause for some reservation about signing him. In all honesty I think he's been jerked around a little bit with what has been asked of him compared to what he was promised. Now he's jerking us back. I just hope he comes back in great shape and kicks ass.

Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
Before he knew she was pregnant I think, not before she was actually pregnant. Otherwise, he'd be even more scum. Breakup with her, get together with Gisele, go back and Bridgitte pregnant, and marry Gisele.
But no I think they broke up and then found out she was pregnant with his child. He didn't pull a Tiki |

Yeah they were broken up for a couple of months already when he found out she was prego. To his credit he sounds like a good Dad at least. |

As I've said, personally I think this is a bigger issue, if both AH and changing to the 3-4 are issues at all. Still, AH not showing up for voluntary workouts/camps is not as bad as Shawn Springs completely disappearing a few offseasons ago. Not that I have anything against Springs, but just want to put things into perspective. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
I am heavily entrenched in the "I want to get rid of AH" camp, but if he gets his act together, shows up next month and participates in all mandatory and voluntary activities going forward, all will be forgiven. however, i don't see that happening. which is why i want to get rid of him. if he doesn't have a major attitude change, then i don't think we'll be getting anywhere near his best during the season and i don't think he'd be worth a roster spot.

What part of his attitude do you not like? Please use specifics. Lots and lots of accusations have been thrown around with absolutely nothing to back them up. All I've ever heard from Haynesworth's own mouth is that he's not suited to play NT, but will play it if necessary, and that he's training in TN to get in the best shape of his life. Everything else has been hearsay, speculation, rumors, etc. If he comes to camp obviously out of shape and screaming into cameras saying he's not playing NT no matter what the coaches say, then we've got problems. Until then, I'm hard pressed to jump in line with the rest of the mob. |

The word "cancer" gets thrown around too easily. Haynesworth is FAR from a "cancer". Pacman Jones, Roy Williams, Plaxico Burress, they're "cancers". |

You're not one of those people that say good things about a player when everyone else is saying good things, then when they start saying bad things, they say bad things too. "Going along to get along" If one thinks Haynesworth is fat, lazy, not a team player and all the other things that have been said to characterize him, continue to say those same things if he has a pro-bowl season...........rant over. |

On a side-note, any chance the Skins make a run at Burress? I seem to remember reading somewhere that he'd be eligible for parole before the season starts. |

You could make the argument that AH is in that same category, they gave him a ton of money and the team finished 4-12 and he didn't play up to the expectation of the money given to him. However, this is much different than the current situation, and I'd agree with the original post regarding the word "cancer", Haynesworth is far from it. |
Re: Thank Goodness We DON'T Have Tom Brady
It still baffles me why people see him and all of this as such a big problem.
I guess it's because people still see Danny when they see him. You have to realize that we are told to hate everything that is or is liked by Danny. haynesworth is seen as a Danny guy so we are supposed to hate him and want him out of here. Much like Portis, we are supposed to want him traded or cut but we would want to keep a Jason Campbell. For no reason but because he is a nice guy. Had Vinny traded Campbell the world would've ended but let me get back on subject. We all knew that Haynesworth wouldn't be at the mini-camps because he was going to work with his own trainer. The guy showed up day one last offseason and bought it in. When the season started people criticized him for being overweight and out of shape. So he goes with who he knows can get him into shape. Much like Springs leaving and working out on his own, Sean Taylor choosing to take the time that he had off as opposed to being here the entire time, or even jason Campbell choosing to stay away after McNabb was brought in. What if he never get's traded ? He still would have had to know the same new system right ? We pick and choose when to be upset and who to be upset with. I personally don't care if he shows up to any of the voluntary camps. As long as when he walks on the field ready when the Cowboys show up Game 1,... I'm good ! Because I don't know about you guys but unless you run your own company, if your job called you to come in for some voluntary hours are you going in ? I know I'll be at home laughing every time I recall the conversation while drinking a beer. |
