It's gonna be great, I'm so looking forward to eating some grilled chicken kabobs, hotdogs, burgers, italian sausages, potato salad, chips/dip, etc. etc. and having an awesome 3 day weekend as well.

Re: Memorial day plans?
The wife and daughter are meeting me at my office and we are driving down to Nags Head for the weekend. Friday night we are having steamed shrimp and french fries. Sat. night we will probably hit the fish market and have a varity of seafood. This time of year the seafood down there is as fresh as it gets.

We tried going to the SF by boat one year and after going through the locks and waiting at all the bridges we found out the festival was no where near the water. I think we stopped at a Captain Georges that had a beach area and hung out there for a few hours. |

It's fun, good food (funnel cake, BBQ, turkey legs), my wife and I go every year, it's only about 5 minutes from where we live.

Re: Memorial day plans?
I am driving to KC and back. I will have two boys with me on the way back, so if anyone knows an awesome festival Monday off of I70, (probably between Indy and Ohio) that would be great info. Yes I do have to be back at work by 630 Tuesday, so no long stops...

Re: Memorial day plans?
I'm heading to Vegas and will be there from Friday to next Wednesday. Hopefully I come back rich.

Go to the Wynn buffet at like 10:30. You'll get all the awesome breakfast stuff and around 11 they start putting out the lunch stuff so you get to try it all (if you have room!). Also, see Peepshow at Planet Hollywood. Three words, Holly. Madison. Boobs. |
Re: Memorial day plans?
No plans and I'm loving the idea of that. We've had a few busy weekends in a row, and the weekend after this we're seeing 2 shows in 3 nights, so I'm looking forward to some peace and quiet.
|
Re: Memorial day plans?
No plans either. Maybe do some grilling, hit up the beach. But really nothing special. Been traveling a bunch lately so a long weekend at home will be nice
|
Re: Memorial day plans?
Work.

Re: Memorial day plans?
I have to work all day Saturday, but Sunday and Monday I'm off. Sunday the fiancee and I are doing the final planning and packing for the wedding/honeymoon (we fly out first thing Wednesday AM). Monday we're invited to two BBQ's, so we'll be spending the day eating and drinking. Can't wait. I'm in the midst of my third straight 6 day work week. I need a vacation SOOOO badly. It's so close....
Getting married a week from Saturday!!!!!!! |

I've been twice once working sound for the bands playing and once actually playing with a band. We talk about going each year but seem to find out it going on after the fact. |
Re: Memorial day plans?
Sending the kids off with their grandparents to the beach, so the wife and I will have the house to ourselves. Movies and Rock Band Friday night with friends, Date Night Saturday Night which will definitely be dinner, then either a movie or go to the bar, Sunday night hitting an annual BBQ we go to where the host will have smoked some pork butts and various other things, and then Monday, I'll throw some burgers, sausages and hot dogs on the grill when my parents bring the kids back.

Saturday im probably going to bbq, make those ritas thats been talked about in the drunk thread, probably get drunk then write something about it in the drunk thread, do some yard work. my bigger pup's got a bad leg so I cant really take the dogs out. Sunday i am going to the Wild Style (big graffiti thing) reunion at loads of fun in baltimore. Cope and others are going to be there. Im older and dont write anymore but i used to a ton, still do canvases and what not for charity and fund raisers. Monday, im dead on the couch with the ceiling fan at full blast probably. |

yeah we do date night too. its pretty much the same thing as going out for us (dinner, then bar hopping) but i have to wear a collared shirt and no hat. |
Re: Memorial day plans?
I just hope I don't sleep all day Tuesday :) My wife and I don't get too many opportunities to be adults with the kids around, so we try to take advantage as much as we can. The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is sleeping until at least 6:45...with the sun rising earlier and earlier, my youngest is up by 6am most mornings. She's getting some room darkening shades this weekend!

Re: Memorial day plans?
My oldest turns 4 in October, so she's at the age now where swimming pools are the most fun things ever. We joined a local swim club which of course opens this weekend, will probably spend lots of time there.
Other than that, by the grill with a beer in hand. This has to be one of the best holiday weekends of the year. |
Re: Memorial day plans?
BBQ - Beer with friends , maybe watch some replays of the skins beating the cowtrurds. Do a little work around the house , and relax and enjoy . Have a great weekend ladies and gentlemen :)

Is your pizza place nearby? My aunt and uncle live down old pungo ferry road. They usually order from the pungo pizza place when we visit. |

not sure we are on the north side though some where in corrolla, which fish market do you go to down there? |
Re: Memorial day plans?
I'm going to play music and provide sound for a Memorial Day rememberence ceremony on Saturday. Honor gaurd will raise our flag, local clergy member to provide a few words, and TAPS will be played as we reflect on the sacrifice of so many Americans who put themselves in harm's way.

We go to Bills Seafood which is down the road from the Wright Brothers monument. Not sure what is down in Corrolla but it has really built up over the years so there is plenty of choices. When I was younger Corrolla was not built up at all and we would spend the night on the beach after a long day of surfing. Can't do that anymore. If your going to be up in nags head I can give you directions to Bills. |

ME and you same boat. I have a two year old. Every morning at 6 am I hear "daddy?", good god boy go enjoy your sleep. Two years old is a tough age, everything pisses them off, nothing hold their attention longer then 5 minutes and they are always trying to committee some type of suicide, so you have to watch them every second. I now fully understand the term terrible twos. |

They don't make much sense when they talk and they're always stumbling around and getting hurt. |
Re: Memorial day plans?
My daughter graduated today. I was really proud of her moving up from the 2 yr old class to the 3 yr old class. Her mom even cried.

Bust down to MP 16 and hit up Sam and Omies. If you love a great plate of seafood, get the Whale of a Seafood platter. The BEST! We are headin further South....Myrtle Beach here we come! Golf,Beach,Bikes, Seafood/Good grillin, doesn't get any better. And of course take much time to reflect the real meaning of this holiday. And the many wonderful men and women that have given so much for us to have these freedoms. To all of you and you know who you are. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO. -POW MIA- YOU ARE NOT FORGOTTEN |

I picked up another one today, they didnt have my size at first walmart i went to. I also have another one from a long time ago when i went to a friends house for 4th of July and his mom bought everyone sweet American shirts. So far 2 of them are cut-offs, that should change by tomorrow. And to let everyone know Walmart (and i know some people on here dont like the place) has a really good collection of American shirts. They even have American flag swim suits. And Everything is 5 bucks. So if you need a sweet shirt or want a American flag swim suit or plan to go as Rocky 4 for halloween, nows your chance. |

I'm sure they have live crabs but your probably going to pay $100 for a bushell if not more. On the way into Nags Head you may come across a few people selling crabs on the side of the road. As far as surfing its been so long sense I have been out serching for waves I have no clue where to tell you to go. If I remember correctly there is a science lab/pier down in corolla and thats where we surf back in the 80's. Now days if the waves are not breaking at the cottage we don't go serching. You can always take a trip down to Hatteras looking for waves. |
