What the hell are you talking about? The NFL is nothing more than an administrative entity for a consortium (NFL Teams). They cannot collude to keep anyone out from earning a living. TO works for himself and is what you would call a “contractor” in your normal work setting. If anyone wants his service they can have him if not they can tell him to go screw himself.

There were a dozen of players who were supposed to be free agents but because they didn’t know about the new deadline they are not. TO has a legitimate case whether you like it or not.

FYI: TO was employed by 49'ers and technically speaking they sold his rights to Ravens. TO is questioning the 49'ers ability to sell his contract.

Preach on Saden. We have a lot of people that like to ride TO just because of his personality and won't look at what this can do for his career. I think TO is an amazing receiver and he's a great guy. Vinny Cerrato said TO is the best locker room guy he's ever seen. He's the hardest worker on the team and he leads by example.

TO is missing out on 10s of millions of dollars because of this deal, and as Saden poitned out. There are many other agents that didn't have their shit together yet. Could this one be on the allmighty NFL? I think so!

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. There are plenty of agents who DID file paperwork. TO is a great locker room presence and does work hard, but he likes to be #1 on the team....and the Ravens already have all that and more with Lewis.

T.O. is not above the rules. If has a problem, it's with his agent. I'd fire the guy then sue him for the lost income for blowing the filing deadline. But he should be a Raven and if he doesn't like it he can sit a season!!!

This is exactly what is wrong with society. The fact of the matter is he missed a deadline. He has two options, be a man and show up and play under the contract he has (which the ravens have already stated they will re-do) or option two sit on his ass for the next two years.
There is absolutely nothing legitimate about his case. San Francisco owned his rights, traded them to Baltimore and now Baltimore owns his rights.

There is no ignorance. I am sure the NFL has some sort of public announcement mechanism for all its players and the agents that represent them. I'm sure they have an "Around The NFL" type of newsletter they circulate to people intimately involved in the NFL. The question is did the NFL or NFLPA inform the players and agents of the changes? This is a significant change that aught to be published. I would go even further and say they are entitled not only to an announcement but also a two week reminder of the deadline. I think the crap the 49’ers are trying to pull is just that, crap. They are they are trying to maximize draft picks at the expense of TO.

Personally I think TO is a great player. I do, however, question how he handles his teammates and coaches. He sometimes reminds me of the infamous “Leon” from bud commercials but he is a good player nonetheless.

The media needs to get of TO’s balls because they sure as hell don’t have anything else to talk about. It would also be best that TO keep his mouth shut and let the arbitrator decide whether his contract with the Ravens is void. If I was a betting man I’d bet that TO’s contract gets voided and he gets deckared a free agent.

this is not a matter of people jumping all over TO, this is a matter of what the rules are, San Francisco did what any team would do and try to maximize compensation for any loss.

Horse shit. This was no ordinary mistake otherwise there wouldn't be so many players miss the deadline.

I only heard of two players missing the deadline, TO and dennis northcutt of cleveland so I honestly don't know where anyone is getting this idea that tons of players weren't able to void their contract in time.

TO's agent screwed up plain and simple and the players association is even going to admit that in the hearing over the contract so this whole commotion is all for nothing. and referencing his situation to that of what Rosa Parks is idiotic. Yeah fighting to get paid a 10 or so million dollar bonus equals fighting for one's civil equality. Each time this guy opens his mouth he seems to get dumber and more arrogant but yet people still defend him, what's up with that?

and I like the reference to the "leon" character from the commercial but I think its the other way around and Leon looks like TO. I mean these commercials weren't made until he started saying stuff about his team last year.

In all fairness, T.O. isn't really comparing himself to Rosa Parks, at least not in the quote I read. Sounds more like he's just paying homage to her, using her as a source of inspiration. But the bottom line is his agent dropped the ball and I'd fire him in a heartbeat if I were T.O., who also has to take a large share of the responsibility for the situation he's in. No, I just hate seeing a guy get ripped because of something I feel was the NFLs fault. These guys are working to get deals done and they move the limit up. If you can have 50 million dollars or get 60 million, which would you choose? Ok.

Also, How about I send you to Antartica instead of the Virgin Islands to work. Obviously this is a bit of a stretch. But he finally had the choice of where he wanted to go, and he has friends in Baltimore (yes, athletes have friends too!) and so he wanted to go and be with them. No question, T.O. is a hard-worker, a great talent, and he definitely brings some fun to the league with his unique celebrations. Nonetheless, every free agent but two (Owens and Northcutt) got their paperwork in on time. So I just don't see how this can be the NFL's fault

No doubt TO is one of the best on the field but his mouth takes away from that so much. Imagine how much more he'd be worth if he didnt have the reputation of being a loudmouth and disruption in the locker room. So many more teams would be interested in him making his value sky rocket.

TO is TO and if he wants to sign footballs fine, if he wants to dance with pom poms fine. But one thing I didnt like was the disrespect he showed by running to the star in Dallas and slamming the football down, I hate Dallas absolutely hate them but that was disrespect to Dallas and to all the football fans. Well that is his fault for hiring a dumb @ss for an agent. His agent a Agent TO hired (key word TO HIRED) to handle his contracts and paperwork screwed up. The guy he hired to take care of such things did not take care of it.

I am sure there are a lot of companies that have lost money and lots of it in the stock market, or whatever because some idiot did not fill out the paperwork properly or completely or on time. Do they get a second chance? NO.

Everything Ive heard from coaches and players are quite the opposite of TO. He's a great locker room influence and he's the leader of the team. He's the guy in the weight room, he's the guy running wind sprints with everyone at home. I don't know where you grab this garbage from, but the only people I've ever heard call him a "locker room problem" are media guys looking for something to grasp onto without a better topic.

Also, if you take your taxes to a tax consultant. You send your taxes in, get audited and find out they're wrong. I'm pretty sure the second you send them to H&R block you get off pretty clean. There are lots of places that if they fuck up your paper work you can sue and either have a chance to re-do it or make the others redo it. There are plenty of examples. The stock market is a bad analogy because it's not something that's reversable. You'd have to turn back time to change the stock market. Every single day matters, whereas in this contract every day really isn't as important.

Here is one very significant difference between Rosa Parks and Terrell Owens.

Owens had made something like $11M in his NFL career. If Rosa Parks had made $11M in her lifetime, she would never have had to ride the bus and take the courageous stand that she took.

Owens has a leverage point with the Ravens. He can hold out until the 11th game of the year and then come back to the team out of shape and with no knowledge of the offense. They can keep him on the roster and pay him for the final 5 games while he contributes next to nothing or they can release him. If they keep him, that works off one year of his contract with them; if they release him, he is a free agent and they get nothing from him next year or for him as he signs elsewhere. Baltimore cannot like that prospect if that is what Owens and his agent threaten to do.

I would not be surprised if the Ravens traded TO to Philly for Philly's first round pick and then Philly re-did TO's contract. That would make everyone happy - except for the 49ers who seemed to want to make sure that TO did not get a signing bonus this year as that team's #1 priority.

What I do not understand is how TO fits the mold of the kind of player that Andy Reid has sought to assemble on his team.

And here is a scary thought that comes from a freind of mine who works for the Philly Inquirer:

The Eagles have enough cap room to trade for TO and sign him AND to take David Boston's contract from San Diego. Granted these are two HUGE head cases, but what defensive coordinator would want to find ways to cover both of these guys on opposite sides of the field for about 65 plays per game?
