Re: RIP Jimmy Dean

I did not know he was a singer and had his own show. I guess that because his fame turn to meats in the 60's when I was born.

RIP Jimmy but you have put plenty of others in a early grave with your sausage.

Some are referring to him as the "sausage king"

Since when did he take that title from Abe Froman?

If I were to rank sausages the bottom would start with Jimmy Dean, I hate that salty crap.

Anybody else notice that the town Jimmy Dean died in was Varina, Virginia, home of Trample the Elderly?? Aside from TTE and Dean, I've never heard of that town in my life. Is it possible TTE trampled Jimmy?

I'm not sure if I was a guy I would want to be called sausage king. Think of the funny looks you would get when your at the beach if your friend yells "sausage king you better slow down on those beers you know what happened last night". Talking about you passing out.

I'll be eating some sausage (Italian - off my grill) for lunch in remembrance.

TTE mistaken him as a Haitian.

I always knew him as a singer and sometimes actor. His song IOU is a Mother's Day classic. Big Bad John is another of his best.

He sold his stake in the sausage business many years ago - but they kept using his name in the packaging.

RIP

Re: RIP Jimmy Dean

Varina is a district / city in the eastern half of Henrico County. Which is the East End of Richmond Virginia.

Jimmie Dean spoke at my graduation and showed off his diamond encrusted gold belt buckle. Years later he got so damned drunk that Varina HS stopped asking him to come. He was a nice man. His wife is a nice lady. They were always good to the people in the community and never did anyone wrong that I know off. He was a good ole boy and will be missed, especially when you run out of whiskey or sausage. He sold the business years ago and they just kept the name I think?

For the record, I'm partial to Jamestown Sausage. You take a fat ole lump out and fry it up under a piece of iron. I used to make mine as thick as a hamburger. I'd make a sandwich with two slices of Texas toast, fried onion, pepper-jack cheese, topped off with Sweet Baby Ray's Barbecue sauce. Now that's a breakfast! I'm on a diet now. RIP Jimmie.

What?! Having the nickname the "Sausage King" would be awesome.. unless it was the Vienna type instead of Varina

and the sausage king slowing down on the beers re: what happened last night sounds more like he "porked" a fatty
