Ramsey needs to start. Let him practice with the first team for a couple of weeks and we'll see an improvement in our passing game.

I guess all we can hope for now is 9-7 or 8-8.

Ramsey has to start the rest of the season. We're 3-6 now, it's time to start looking ahead to next year. Let's get Patrick coached up and let him get some experience for next season.

They just asked Gibbs who would start next week, he wouldn't commit to anyone, just said they'll watch the film and go from there.

He looked like a rookie. He moved the ball well and he can throw tight spirals deep, but he makes a lot of mental mistakes. He needs to start the rest of the season to see if he can correct his mistakes and develop under Gibbs. Otherwise, we're going to need a new QB.

Yeah once Gibbs sees the film that should easily jump out. The offense was going nowhere with Brunell, and once Ramsey got warmed up a bit the offense started moving.

Ramsey by far. You could see him progressing during this game, with the right amount of snaps, hopefully he will look to full form by seasons end. We need to find out now, it will just be ashame to waste another season trying to figure out who our QB is. I think its Ramsey, but if its not, lets find out right now.

Ramsey has to start. Like some have pointed out Gibbs needs to evaluate him and see if he is our future QB.

what film is there on brunell. Ramsey made a bunch of throws that should have been picks. Brunell didnt do that, why you ask,becuase his balls were all uncatchable. he did some some that could have been picked off though.

He needs to start the rest of the season. He needs the time to learn and grow in Gibbs' system. I wasn't too worried about his performance yesterday because he has had no practice time with the first team. He needs that time to get his timing down with his receivers and to learn to read defenses better.

Since he never got the time in practice, the only alternative is let him learn on the field.

It's just too darn bad that Gibbs' waited this long to make the change. Now, Ramsey is faced with the toughest part of our season and virtually no previous playing time under Gibbs. Very bad timing on Gibbs' part.

I think we should play Ramsey for now, but not cede the season to him. He has to earn it. Popularity with the fans isn't the issue - performance is. He did some good things toward the end of the game against the prevent defense and one of the least effective defenses in the league. It's a start. If he can build on it, then stay with him. If he goes out and makes a lot of mistakes, and the team flounders, then you make the move to Hasselbeck.

Everyone is worried about the blitz. The thing is, professional quarterbacks have to learn how to exploit the blitz with their arms. Ramsey made the right read on at least three blitzes, once, checking down to a hitch pattern with Coles (who dropped it); and then checking down to a slant to Gardner (which was almost picked off because the DE dropped back into coverage).

Do you guys remember Bernie Kosar? He once said that he loved getting blitzed because it was an opportunity to beat the other team deep. Ramsey has the ability, and the receivers, to beat the blitz - it is just a matter of time.

Give Ramsey a friggin' chance to work with the first team for a week and to come into a game where he doesn't have to throw on every play and I have a good feeling about his chances.

For a couple drives towards the end of the game, he had the offense moving and was starting to click.

We all know he can get hot, and if he gets hot and avoids the big mistakes, watch out.

The other factor is he throws a fastball with about 30% more velocity than Brunell. His receivers needed some time to reorient themselves to his passes.

After a week of catching his throws instead of Brunell's, I think you'll see a lot less drops.

Finally, I think the receivers running the deeper routes (well, just Coles) tended to sort of walk through the motions because they knew Brunell didn't have the arm to get it there. Ramsey does, and I think you'll see the receiver's effort increase because they know that wherever they are on the field, the ball will get there.

although we lost we still may be in the hunt for a playoff spot. Giants season looks about done, and if the cowboys lose we just have to step it up to win the rest of the games.
we could still go somewhere with a little luck. glad to see the kid get a chance though. any given sunday anyone can win or lose in the NFL

On one hand, I understand the support for Ramsey in a new system. But didn't his performance yesterday remind you of the same mistakes of last season? Sometimes we as fans want to see our favorite players do well that it clouds our focus on what Ramsey should know and what he shouldn't. I'm not going to waste anyone's time with comparison's between him and other QB's of his age. But I know, you thought here we go again, after the first sack, INT and then the sack and fumble. I will hang in there with him until the end of this season. If he does well great. But if he throws the ball to the defense and takes us out of the game with stupid mistakes, I will be the first to say...............

There are 10 teams in the NFC that are 5-4 or 4-5. Can you imagine, had we won that game what our chances are? With Ramsey and McCants and Portis ( forget the rest of the WR's) we maybe able to pull a couple of the unimaginable off. If anything lets be the spoilers of the league. Lose just one game from here on out and get the wild at 9-7. You never know.

Yesterday everything that could go wrong went wrong. Not only did we lose, but the Lions and Bears both won. Plus there's the whole mess out west with Seattle, St. Louis, and Arizona

I respectfully disagree. The success of Peyton Manning, Ben Rothlisberger and even Brett Favre is their ability to use their legs and arm and not just their arm to beat the blitz. Ramsey must learn quickly how to drop back and then step up into the pocket and throw. Right now he doesn't have the confidence to do this but he has the right coaching now. He also has to be aware of the defensive schemes that are discussed in practice. This is not the first time these QB's see the opponents schemes, so he has to make the neccessary adjustment and throw the ball away if the receiver is covered. I just cannot take watching a young QB getting sacked over and over when he should be able to run, run and run some more. By the way, Kurt Warner has been sacked 39 times this year so don't feel too bad Ramsey.

We've got to find out if it's Ramsey, or if we need someone else. For that alone, it should be Ramsey.

Ok, Ramsey got sacked a few times, but later in the game, he stepped up and avoided the sack quite a few times. Was he perfect? No way...not even close, but his comfort seemed to progress as the game went on. I wouldn't say he looked like a rookie, but he looked like a guy that hadn't seen live (regular season) game action in a year, and towards the end, things started clicking. After a week of practice and not having to come from behind right away (being able to lean on the running game), I think he will be much better.

Yes. Brunell has done all he can. Let Ramsey get more rep's durning the week. I think that will help him a lot.

so, you'll blame brunell's crap play on the WRs, Oline and D not doing enough, but if if anything goes wrong with ramsey, that's his fault? I'd call blatant overthrows and throwaways with plenty of time left stupid mistakes... you mentioned clouded vision... just give ramsey the same 8 games you gave brunell, or at least 4-5.

Also, carr, leftwich etc have had more time in a single NFL system, so its kind of hard to judge ramsey compared to them right now...

So far, Joe Gibbs has made decisions that have made him look so very ... human. Very un-Gibbs-like. Un-Saintly. You get the idea.

Whether it was the reckless, frantic race to Jacksonville so he could sign what many around the league saw as a washed-up, damaged goods quarterback in Mark Brunell, to the time clock management issues, to the ill-timed introduction of Patrick Ramsey into the toughest part of the schedule -- you can tell that this team is headed for what's going to be the disappointment that tops all other disappointments known to man.

Think the hype for the 2000 season was too much? Just wait for the nasty after-taste of 2004.

WOW! That is the most depressing thing I ever read. We all know now that it is about looking forward to next year. You learn in life by making mistakes. Gibbs is going to make them, but addressing the mistakes and learning from them is what seperates a smart person from an idiot. I don't think the game has past Gibbs by. But, it has changed. Gibbs is not disallusioned. We aren't making the playoffs folks. I don't care if we win another game, I just want to see some progress. We'll know through these crappy times, what players are for real, and who is there for the paycheck. Some people on this board knew we weren't doing much this season, and some were being unrealistic to think ANYONE can fix a mess that existed for 12 years, and be successful right off the bat. I think I was blinded as well by Gibbs coming back. Now, I have to face the reality, that yes, he is human. But he is also a winner, so I keep hope. Later.
