Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
Wow, that’s horrible. For everyone that has young kids like this, well, any kids in general it absolutely breaks your heart to hear this.
Prayers go out to him and his family. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
Awful, boys at the age of 2 to 3 are very dangerous to themselves. I always tell folks I am on suicide watch with him, they laugh but it fairly true.
He has gone to his 3rd swimming lesson, each class is 30 minutes, we always do "Humpty Dumptys" where the child falls off the pool side you catch him and then have him kick back to the wall and pull himself out again. IT is great life saving lesson. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
That's terrible. Best wishes to the family.

Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
Having a 4 and 2 year old I did not read the article, the headline turned my stomach enough. Prayers for the Cunningham family.

Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
god bless his family. what a tragedy. the young ones have no sense of danger at all
|
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
I lost a 3 year old cousin to something very similar. I'll never own a pool for that reason...
Always...Always supervise your children... especially if there is water nearby. So tragic. Prayers to Cunningham and his family. |

Agreed. I hope the whole family finds the strength to go on through this. The loss of a child, especially that young, is a pure tragedy :(. |

I can't think of anything worst happening to me then for my son to die, god bless folks who go through something like this. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
RIP. What a tragic story, I can't imagine what he and his family are going through. It's like that baby (don't know if you guys saw the story) that was killed by a falling tree branch in Central Park Zoo (a healthy tree branch) that fell on her while she was posing for a picture with her mother. Just so horrible

I'm in the same position, nearly 4 and nearly 1. I heard about it on Mike and Mike this AM and it unnerved me pretty bad. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
Yea, got a 3 and 4 yr old. That's just horrible. I couldn't begin to imagine.

Same here...my boy is two...also have a hot tub. We keep it covered at all times even though he can't get up into it. I hate hearing tragedies like this. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
A terrible situation. I cannot understand a 2yr. old being left unsupervised in a body of water for any reason.
My prayers will be with the Cunningham family, may his son RIP. Negligence would apear to be of concern here. |

A terrible tragic situation. Many lives are forever altered....

Pretty innocuous, but we were like damn, if she can get away from us to do that, what else can happen. It prompted a full day of childproofing. I think the lesson is with little kids, don't own a hot tub or a pool, unless you have a foolproof way of locking them out of it. They're drawn to fun stuff like this. They tend not to rule negligence on something like this unless there was something appalling going on. The legal system understands that kids get into stuff. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
I have a 4 yr old son & 10 month old daughter. Without them Lord knows where i would be they keep me level-headed and so peaceful. I couldn't imagine losing them they are what i live for. I hope he doesn't blame himself for this it's very easy to do. God Bless the Cunningham family & give them strength to overcome this tragedy.

Me and my daughter where going out side last week but I had to get something and I thought my wife was putting on her shoes. Next thing I know my wife is running out the door and returns with our daughter. I didn't even know she could open the door and its a good thing my wife heard our daughter calling for me. Thats is the first time that has ever happened but what if she did not call for me and instead wondered out into the street. We now keep the door locked but its just a matter of time for her to figure out how to unlock the dead bolt. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
My kids are the joy of my life. Just thinking of this feels like a punch in the gut with a sledgehammer. Prayers to the family.
When you have children, particularly small children, life is a constant balance of joy and terror with a fine line dividing them. |

Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
I second all the stories of kids getting into stuff, getting out of secure places, or just plain getting into trouble even when supervised. As a parent, you just can't child-proof the world. It takes just a moment - even with things you think are routinely okay.
About a week ago my son (7) was going down the steps - long, narrowish stairwell, hard wooden steps, does it every morning. That morning he is in front of me, chatting away, joking with me, and missteps on the top step. He is three feet away, just out of reach and, as if in a bad dream, I watch him tumble (literally) down the steps in slow motion, banging his head, going at crazy angles before coming to a rest at the bottom. He came out of it scared, shaken up but with only a couple bruises. Scared the living crap out of me! The death of child is about the most traumatic thing that can happen to a couple. For their sake, I hope Randle and his wife find the strength to deal with this together. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
worst possible thing to happen to an individual. My heart goes out to you and your family Randall.

Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
Man that's really sad, you ALWAYS have to watch kids not matter what, especially around pools and in the kitchen.
I remember during Thanksgiving one of my cousins children was playing around the stove and there was a big grease pan up top cooling off. He had wrapped something around the handle, forget what, and it just about poured all over him. Thankfully my Aunt yelled and I jumped up, otherwise it could have been a bad situation. |

Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
Tragic. I cannot imagine the grief of losing a young child in such a manner. Last week, a mother lost her child when the boy left her side while they were doing chores in their garden. He was found drown in the sea, next to their house - about 8 minutes later. That's why I never leave my kids unsupervised, at all times.
I hope my last sentence doesn't come out as finger pointing or condescending. I can see this tragedy happening to me, no matter how vigilant you are it only takes a moment for an accident to happen. I've had my shares of near misses, of which I would have severely regretted had it eventuated. |
Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
I was that kid in the pool once, if not for my cousin's quick actions I doubt I'd be here to post this. And it's not like I was alone. The whole family was with me, but all it takes is a couple of seconds of no one looking and tragedy can happen

This is the worst news a parent will ever receive . Very sad , my heart goes out to the Cunningham family .

Re: Randall Cunningham's 2-year-old son drowns in family hot tub
Absolutely horrible. I can't even begin to imagine the feeling. I always fear losing a little brother for some strange reason and have no clue what it would be like to do that, much less a child. I imagine that my will to continue wouldn't be very strong at the time.

Well glad that your cousin was there. My little brother was that kid too and I was the one that noticed. My mother and sister were down on the deep end and though I think that I was told to keep an eye on my kid bros outside of the pool, I was 10. My kid bro was 2 and leaned over and fell in.. I didn't even say anything, just swam over there as fast as possible and pulled him out of the water as he was about to hit the bottom (4 feet deep or so). Every time that I remember that it really messes with my head. He remembers it too. |
