what a bunch of bull crap(in my opinion) |
Re: do cops chase criminals?
They prolly do target them.
|
Re: do cops chase criminals?
I think Benson was harassed by the police with his boating thing a while back, but Travis Henry and Odell Thurman were legit big name trouble makers (I do think Henry was on the right path before his tragic death). As much of a retard as Ocho Cinco is, you never hear about him getting in trouble with the law and I would think if cops were targeting Bangle players you would win your police office pool putting the cuffs on Ocho Cinco. But why in the world would you try target your hometown team? Its not like Cincinnati is a mixing pool like DC, I feel like if youre a cop in Cincinnati you probably grew up there. But Marvin Lewis also said cops target Bangle players and I look at him in pretty high regard. Also I generally distrust cops so I have a bias towards them.

Re: do cops chase criminals?
Just call a "Beer Summit" and get to the heart of the matter. Profiling is as common in America as breakfast, it's a problem that lame efforts have been made to address for a long time.
|
Re: do cops chase criminals?
Its the job of the police to target criminals.
|
Re: do cops chase criminals?
Well, I don't know. And I've never been to Cincinnati (other than the airport), but I've heard too many people say that there have been tense issues with the police and athletes in Cincinnati (and African-Americans) for so many years for me not to think maybe there is something to it.
That said, Bucher does acknowledge that Benson's arrest has nothing to do with that since he wasn't arrested in Cincy. And 'do cops chase criminals" seems to have nothing to do with what Bucher is saying, but whatever |

Travis Henry? The running back in the pen with 9 kids who was caught trying to sell cocaine in some town in Minnesota (I think)? I'm pretty sure you meant Chris Henry. |
Re: do cops chase criminals?
Not so much target...just keep their eye on them because of their track record.
I'm sure the Dallas Cowboys are watched too...but it's not harassment...just monitoring a group known to be criminals. |

He is now 11 for 10, which is pretty remarkable. Re: do cops chase criminals?
If you keep your nose clean...it should not matter if you are being watched or not.
These guys get paid enough money where they can afford to take a cab or hire a driver when they are going to go out and drink or do whatever. The problem is they also need baby sitters to keep them out of trouble. |
Re: do cops chase criminals?
I believe 100% there is truth to this story. Cinn is a very conservative city and outside of the athletes there are not very many black people there. However it's really not that hard to keep your nose clean and not get arrested.

Ok, whatever you say. |
Re: do cops chase criminals?
Even if they are profiling you still have to be breaking a law for them to arrest you. Now if your talking about handing out speeding tickets and stuff like that profiling is easier to do. I love the argument by someone who say's they were profiled but still had a bag of weed on them.
|
Re: do cops chase criminals?
Ive spent some time in cincy. small small small city. I imagine an athlete driving around in an expensive shiny benz or hummer draws alot more attention in Cincy than if he was driving the same car in DC.
They had race riots about 10 or so years ago b/c the black community felt the police dept was racially motivated. |

Many times small incidents are escalated into something much more because of the inability of parties invloved to maintain a sense of discipline. Words and mannerisms' often change what a normal outcome would be. Take the case of Henry Louis Gates for example: Asking the Police, do you know who I am? Well, in reality the Police do not give a .... who you are if they think you're in the process of committing a crime. A situation that could so easily be rectified winds up spiraling out of control all because of attitude. |

what a bunch of bull crap(in my opinion)
Well if I was a cop I'd target any NFL player. They are notorious dopers, rapist, and thugs. I mean have you forgotten LT? |

I think they should be profiled. The crime and complete disregard for living a proper life is ridiculous. Its getting out of hand. And 99% of it is because of this bullshit "Thug Rapper" Mentality, yo. Fucking Dirtbags. I am getting tired of players and ex players in the headlines committing crimes on a DAILY basis. Our kids are being taught, conciously and subconciously, that these sort of actions are to be expected and are run of the mill if you are an athlete, and that is a sad sad situation. I hope Goodell can start cracking some fucking heads....... |
Re: do cops chase criminals?
Let's chill with the F word.
The NFL is just a cross section of society in general. For every bum that makes the headlines for driving drunk, assault, etc., there are many, many more GOOD stories out there that we don't hear about. For every bum there are probably 10 really good guys in the league. Guys that are strong family guys, strong community leaders, etc. Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. |

And as I've said before when there is a good story, no one cares. Case in point, look how few responses these stories got: http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/36852-redskins-give-oxon-hill-senior-25k.html http://www.thewarpath.net/redskins-locker-room/36819-chad-ochocinco-gets-kudos-on-one.html |

People usually only pay attention to the things that support their own biases. Some people have shown their true colors here today.

Re: do cops chase criminals?
im not sure what that post means? my true colors are if your a chuckle head, and commit a crime, you should pay for it. having fame and fortune doesn't exclude anyone from following the rules

Re: do cops chase criminals?
Do cops chase criminals? Hmm, it depends on the county and possibly the state. Like DC supposedly has a no chase policy. Fairfax and Prince William have a no chase policy. Stafford will chase you to Cuba if they have to. These are just examples.
Now is the more appropriate question... do cops do their jobs they get paid to do? Lets look at it this way.... was the Bengal player breaking the law and did he get caught? if so then the cops are doing their jobs. Let me ask you this, if I told you that every time you go to a specific fast food restaurant you will have spit in your drink, would you check your drink every time after you ordered from them? yes you would. The same can be said about people. If a cop stops you and finds drugs or after he stops you and runs your info and learns that you have had previous drug arrests what would be the chance you might have drugs on you at that very moment? greater then the average citizen. So logically when a cop stops someone and the info comes back that they have had a previous drug arrest the cops are gunna want to search you and your car. It's not their fault if your stupid butt gets caught with drugs again. Get caught once and your red flagged basically. Either don't get caught or don't break the law it's your choice. I thought there was a statistic somewhere that said more white people get stopped and charged for offenses, but more black people go to jail for their offenses? This is not the cops fault for this statistic its the courts. |

Re: do cops chase criminals?
Are the Bengals innocent of the crimes they're accused of committing? This guy makes it sound like the only people populating Cincinnati jails are Bengal players.

I like to think it's more about character. Clearly the Bengals have character issues. |
Re: do cops chase criminals?
Do cops chase criminals? Only if you run from them.

If it does then you have other issues going on. Maybe you should only let them watch golf or bowling. Also when I say "who cares" I'm don't mean I don't want to see sports cleaned up I mean it does not affect my family. |
