Oh man the weather is supposed to be perfect here in DC this weekend. Unfortunately I have to work Saturday (took today and tomorrow off though). My sister in-law is coming to town Friday evening. On Sunday we're spending the day downtown. Probably do happy hour down on the waterfront, then we're going to watch the fireworks from the Iwo Jima Memorial.

USA!!!

I'm stealing your format, I'm going with:

Fireworks, margaritas, friends, beer, grillin', boating, sun, sunburn, sleep

Re: 4th of July weekend plans

We are doing the boat thing on Saturday, Sunday we are going to a friends house who lives two houses off Va. Beach and has a nice pool. Monday we will probably go to our clubs pool to swim and have lunch (they do a cook out). Monday night we will meet at a neighbors house around dark and set off about $3,000 worth of fireworks. Its become a tradition that whoever has fireworks shows up to light them off. I have about $300 worth but some guys show up with a wheel barrel full. We get a pretty big crowd from all around the neighborhood. Its pretty cool because even though they are illegal in Va. a fire truck will pull up about three house away pack with firemen and they will just sit there and watch.

Let's see. Going with the prevailing format:
Rehoboth Beach, sun and surf, steamed crabs, beer, some kind of nightlife sans kids, more sun and surf, grillin', beer, fireworks, more nightlife sans kids, home sometime Monday to crash.

Your a brave man that place will be packed.

I have also noticed that fireworks seem to follow drinking on most of these post.

LOL. One of my favorite episodes.

Seriously though, my sister-in-law is coming with her child that just learned how to work and they're staying with us a few days. So it goes without saying that I'll be drinking heavily...

Have a nice pork butt I'm throwing in the smoker Saturday night...

My daughter's 1st birthday party on Saturday, grilling, beer, pool, beer, go for ice cream, beer, backyard fireworks, beer, yard work, beer, more pool, beer, catch fireflies, beer and extending the weekend to a 5-dayer since my daughter turns 1 on Tuesday.

Nice.

bachelor party for a high school buddy at a friends farm house around gettysburg saturday. probably leave sunday morning and go die somewhere. preferrably my couch under the ceiling fan.

there is a house party sunday night with a rooftop deck for the fireworks in balmore but i doubt i will be able to do anything on sunday besides push remote control buttons.

i just hope the fellas leave their guns at home. beer, buddies and hand cannons do not mix.

I've got to say that I would prefer Colorado any day over Maryland, except for the 4th of July. Especially Annapolis. I'll have a great 4th, but I'm still a little jealous.

What about beer? You're not having any beer this weekend?

It looks like he is having a childs first birthday and sense the child will have no clue of whats going on they are going to sit around and drink beer while the kid sleeps. Its common around here and its really just a reason to get together and drink.

I wasn't. I don't know how many 1st birthdays I have been to that was pretty much a bunch of adults getting together and drinking some cold beer.

Exactly. I'll be by the grill with some beers, passing out the burgers. The dudes will gravitate towards me, the ladies will gravitate towards the kids and pinch their cheeks. These things inevitably turn into 6th grade dances. Guys on one side, girls on the other.

Nice.

Need to get a new grill, mine just broke a week ago, so pissed. Didn't plan on cooking out anyways. Probably just going to take it easy Saturday and then go to D.C for the fireworks.

Lived here my entire life and have never gone to see them in person. Well there was one time I parked on 50 to watch them, but I'm talking like down on the mall, going to do that this year.

Going to take the HD camcorder and hopefully get some good video.

Re: 4th of July weekend plans

I'm actually trying to find some good ol illegal fireworks (bottle rockets, roman candles etc AKA the good stuff that dc/md/va is too chicken shit to allow). Anyone in PA know of any places south of Philly? Cause that's where I'm gonna be this weekend.

I think Phantom Fireworks might have some. I might check there first.

firstdown 07-01-2010 03:34 PM

Re: 4th of July weekend plans

If I would have known sooner I could have mailed some to you because I have several boxes of the good old illegal SC fireworks.
