Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
McNabb
Cooley was making some really athletic catches, including this one and some other diving and one-handers. I just saw an article saying he's dropping a lot, well on Saturday he was catching everything. CP TD. LaRon was getting beat a little too much for my liking. Here's Dennis Morris scoring a TD on him. Extreme closeup of Cooley right in front of me after catching fade in the corner of the end zone. The TEs. Vickers was also making some really athletic catches and nice pass route running. He could be a red zone threat if he makes the team...seriously. The O-line looked GREAT. Jamaal Brown was not practicing though. CP was working VERY hard and seems to be in great shape...and very motivated. |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
The three RBs...but I really think Torain is going to beat out Parker, he was breaking tackles, hitting holes and had some LONG runs in the scrimmage. He was impressive.
Kick/Punt returning practice. Moss, Austin, Banks, DT, Buchanon, D-Hall, Keiland Williams, Tryon and Westbrook were fielding kicks. Banks is blazing fast but seems to fumble easily. Austin looked great. Now some "off-he field" photos. This is a photo of my son becoming a man. He seriously enjoyed the cheerleaders, two of that called him cutie. The one in front of us gave him a photo AND a t-shirt. (see pic of her throwing shirts, that's her). When they left the field, he was leaning out of his stroller watching them leave until they were out of sight. Proud of him. :D And our first three Lombardis. Yes, I said first three...more on the way. |

Great pics. Well done.

Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Good pics Buster! Thanx.
Is somebody using Cooleys gear? |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Good job Buster: What a great experience for the fans. I always like to go on FAD but for me now, 29,000 + people are a bit much for the setting. Great nonetheless!!

Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day

She was right in front of us the whole "show". My son loved her....got a face full when she handed him that poster too, which is now hanging above his crib. :D All of the cheerleader pics were taken by my wife...she held onto the camera for that part for some reason. Anyways, we arrived at 9:00, drove down from PA, which only took 2 hours. Had no idea I was that close (Route 15 rocks). Arrived early enough to get a nice view from between the two practice fields right at the rope behind the end zone and in the shade, which was important with a 2 year-old. Stayed for about 5 hours, right until the end of the scrimmage. Didn't stay for autographs. Haynesworth was getting mocked the whole time, some really funny stuff, especially whenever he was running. Observations: I was VERY impressed by the defense...so many INTs, of all the QBs. Bartel seemed to be getting more snaps than Beck in the scrimmage...maybe they're trying to get a good look before cutting him? As I said, Vickers was surprisingly dangerous...wonder if we'll keep him. Torain looked GREAT...had some big runs. Larry Johnson has great hands out of the backfield, we do not need Westbrook. Orapkpo was getting to the QB a lot, despite the great O-line play. This defense is going to be incredible this season, I foresee a ton of sacks and turnovers. McNabb looked like he was in the best shape of his career, a lot of people made this comment. He was used in a lot off rollouts and deep passes, completing them. I expected this with Shanny's offense, but I now expect to see some big yardage plays, something we've missed for a while. Gano is VERY accurate, but the longsnapper Sundberg causes any of his misses, he's unreliable. Bidwell...great punter...mile-high, perfect spirals. CP is hungry. Carlos is playing good, not getting beat, tight coverage, making plays on the ball and even getting INTs. LaRon...still needs some work on coverage, but if he's used in blitzes, he'll be effective there. No Malcolm Kelly. Also, saw "history"...Haynesworth passed and practiced! |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
I have about 120 pics from the day, but that's a sampling for you.
Was a great day. It was my first ever live Redskins experience unbelievably. Next up...a game. :D Oh, and the t-shirt my son got from the cheerleader (men's large so its mine now) says "BEAT NEW YORK" on the front of it...which is perfect. My wife's family is from NY and my next-door neighbor is also a Giants fan...will be wearing this shirt a lot. :laughing2 |

And you have some awesome pictures. Great job Buster! |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Nice pictures.
Good observation on Vickers, have heard others mention his goal-line presence as well TORAIN!!!!!! |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Haha, thanks. I found that I was the expert among the group I was standing in. They was were obviously not Warpath members. :benched:
Whenever anyone had a question about "who's #__?", "who did he play for before/what college?" and other roster questions, I had to start handing out answers. I didn't want them to be confused. Eventually, they started coming to me. Now this guy I was standing beside had be a little suspicious. He told someone else he goes to a lot of camps...Eagles/Giants/Ravens/Steelers and others. He had a green shirt on...only one I saw. :D Anyways, he stood there with a notepad and was doing a position chart using the players' numbers (saw his defensive one). He was also logging plays and formations in the scrimmage. He didn't even know who Ryan Torain was and didn't seem knowledgeable enough about the team to appear to be a fan of the Skins. Even my wife was suspicious. Was he a scout for another team? Or, just a fan of football in general, possibly a stats junkie or like one of the people who keep score at baseball games (guilty myself of that)? Interesting fellow... |

Take the excitement of Training Camp and times it by a million. I use to go to training camp religiously but for the past few years I have skipped out. To me it was more interesting when it was in Frostsburg or better yet Carislie. did they have you park out in the fields again this year? |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Yep, parked in this half grass/half dust field that had holes, ditches, horrible. I can't imagine how bad it would be if it rained.
Also, impossible to push a stroller through, I just picked the whole thing up with my son in it and carried him for a while. :D I'd LOVE for it to move back to Carlisle...I'll go all the time. But I had no idea I was so close...my wife has a relative in Leesburg and she told us about taking Rt 15 from practically my front door, right to Redskins Park. Less than 2 hours driving...last time I went to D.C., we took the Beltway...took over 3 hours. Never again. |

I really wish they pick a new venue. |

IT is not even the "grounds" it is more the feeling, it felt more like training camp in Frostburg and Carsailie, the town/school was exicited to have them and there was a buzz around town. At RP it misses that element. |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
From the looks of it we're ready to win the SB! HTTR!

Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Nothing like the day when a dad catches his son checking out the same girl as him. I don't have a son so my only experience like that is getting busted by the wife or daughter for checking out a girl. LOL Thanks for the picks and you need to get to a game.

Funny but believe it or not, I went for the football. :D But, confirmation that my son is a fan of the ladies...always a welcome event. We have a ton of cheerleader pics, all taken by my wife. It was my wife who actually suggested we go and would not take no for an answer...so she's a keeper. |

At RP it misses that element.
If you recall earlier I started a thread asking you guys where you felt training camp should be held. The park is closer to the city, convenient in many ways but equally as uncomfortable. No seating arrangements is for many [including myself] an area that should be given a little more consideration in an effort to make the experience more rewarding for the fans who bold the humidity and hot temperatures around here at this time of year. Traffic as well. |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Got there early (from 3 states away), parking was easy, no traffic really, got a spot in the shade...was comfortable all day.
I beat most of the locals there. :D Weather was perfect, but if I were in the sun...yeah, that would've been a bit miserable. |

It's 94 degrees here today, the humidity you can cut with a knife. We really miss coming your way in the summer, Carlisle was always such an enjoyable atmosphere for us. |

Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Great job with the pics they are crystal clear and you can tell you had a great spot to see the action .. being out here in AZ i miss the training camp days and i'm super jealous .... glad to hear the positive vibes on the offense .... Cardinals training camp is just nothing compared to the Skins' and the absolute hopefulness that surrounds training camp this season .. HTTR :woot:

Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Awesome pics Buster, really enjoyed them. You wouldn't happen to have been the man sitting behind my in 2008 in 416 against the Cardinals that told his young son, "That's why men come to games, to see women dancing in their underwear" would you?
Haha |
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
^ Ha...wish I were. Never been to a game actually.
|
Re: Photos from Fan Appreciation Day
Haha you just reminded me of him with what you said, never know, could have been you.
