Antonio Bryant cut
Just saw on twitter Adam Scheffter reports bungholes cut him and took an 8 mil loss. Should we look at him????? Also L Coles was cut by jets
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
Yeah, we should bring him in, but unless he can force Galloway off the roster, one week isn't much time to show what he can do.
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
I think we will wasn't Bruce alllen
making a push for him? |
re: Antonio Bryant cut
hmmmmm, Id think he could come in and be better than what we have now for our #3 and possibly our #2.........
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
I was like- who is Anthony Bryant? It's ANTONIO Bryant. And yeah, we should definitely give him a look.
What a bonehead move by Cincy for signing him. 4 years, $28M deal signed less than 5 months ago, now cut before the end of the preseason? Yikes. That's $8M for nothing. Amazing. He's got a banged up knee, but from what I've read he's not too far away from being 100%. |

|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
No, he's a head case and he's not that good!
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
Just heard on NFL Network that Bryant only practiced once with the Bengals because of his knee. $8M for one practice!!?? Wow. Good for him.
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
Ex-Cowboy...
But BA did bring him into the Bucs organization, and he performed rather well there. I could see us bringing this guy in. IF we pulled this move or any other WR move Kelly is gone. (I kow he may be gone regardless) |
re: Antonio Bryant cut
Why bother, he's injured and has been a headcase his whole career.
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
I can't recall him causing an problems while in Tampa?! Just alot of production on the field
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
When thinking of a move like this we have to ask, how much better does this move make the skins? Will this lead to more wins? IMO I'm not sure we are all that improved considering the risks involved.

Agree with you but the potential is great just see my Dream Sequence in another post. Moss, VJ, Bryant, DT, Armstrong, Austin & Banks. |
re: Antonio Bryant cut
If he's healthy enough to play wk 1 sign him... Bryant is a decent #1, whose better than any of our WR's we have now, plus Allen wanted to bring him in anyway.
Opening Day WR's 1. Bryant X 2. Thomas Z 3. Moss Y 4. Armstrong 5. Kelly 6. Banks |

You can't drop Galloway since he is healthy and has shown us he still has something in the tank. I rather have a 38 year old WR that is healthy, runs good routes, and can make plays, than an oft injured newbie that has only one decent game of production under his belt. |
re: Antonio Bryant cut
Bryant could be a total steal for us so why not give the guy a look. IF we get him, we better keep Galloway though over Kelly.
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
Is it guaranteed that Shanahan will keep six wideouts?
Also, I don't see how Malcolm Kelly has a chance in hell to make the roster. |
re: Antonio Bryant cut
Not sure about that Beem, but I think he would.
|
re: Antonio Bryant cut
2011 is the year to draft a WR. But bring him in. Couldn't hurt

Wouldn't surprise to see him cut this week too |
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
When I was stationed in Summerville, sc a an army recruiter a few years ago I meet a young man named AJ Green who was the star reciever for the team, tall, but quick and amazing hands. Anyways he went on to play at UGA and is projected as a blue chiper next year in the draft. I would love to pick him up in the draft. This kid is the real deal and not to mention I would have a damn good connection if we draft him! And I wouldn't mind Julio jones out of bama either.

I see your point but I don't think it's fair to judge someone who hasn't played... I could see us cutting him if he doesn't have a good game against the Cards. |

Yeah both those guys are gonna be studs in the NFL, I'd take either one. |
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
I just don't see Shanny bringing a guy off the street who hasn't spent one day in practice nor learing the system when all he preaches is, "if you don't practice you don't play." Would he really spend all summer going back and forth with Haynesworth, chief diva, and bring in a headcase like Bryant who has practiced only once for $8 mil? Wouldn't that just be rosey?
No chance Bryant or any other warmed over body (see Vince Jackson) who hasn't spent this summer in a Redskins uniform practing. The only thing I see forcing Shanny's hand is an injury to somone like Santana Moss. Otherwise I think he's rolling with the crew he's got right now. |
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
Laveranues Coles is a joke.
|
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
Would rather take Coles.

Don't forget Terrance Toliver from LSU or that 6'5" guy from Pittsburgh. |

Guy has a sprained ankle, misses almost all of camp. Taylor Jacobs has a guy fall on his belly during a preseason game and doesn't play a down for 3 years for various other injuries. I agree it is not fair comparing the two, but you have to have that in the back of your mind. If it came down to Kelly or Armstrong, who would you keep? or Austin? Kelly started last season and didn't do squat, except for one game. |
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
Also, like the guys have stated above, 2011 will have some stud Wr's for the taking, so Kelly might not be needed at all.
|
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
They want Kelly on this team he needs to do something in game 4 preseason to validate them keeping him.
|
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
It would be insane, not to at least inquire about the guy and his health.
if he is 100% or can be soon,he's at worst..our 3rd best WR. Possibly even better than moss. You have to look at this guy. He would significantly upgrade this WR core, without losing anything in his aquisition. Bye-bye kelly.. You go Santana Moss (he's our boy) Antonio Bryant (if healthy) Joey Galloway (great experience here) Anthony Armstrong (I really like this kid) Devin Thomas (you made the team, now step up!!) Brandon Banks (KR/PR) (speedy Gonzales) If we keep a 7th for practice squad?,I like the young guy Terrence Austin there This makes us pretty decent. McNabb can work with these guys! |
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
Exactly Ace. Bryant would shore it up. Kelly hopefully can make the last preseason game to at least give himself achance, but he better h ave one helluva game.

Its funny cuz Anthony Bryant actually made it into Madden 11 with the newest roster update. Weird thing is during play he looks like himself but his profile picture is of a big white guy. Not sure how that works. |

Why do theyw ant him on the team so bad when the newbies show some promise. Kelly is an underacheiver and suspect healthwise. |

Unfortunately coaches don't always have the option to give athletes a fair shake in games. Sometimes practice is all you get to make an impression, and unfortunately for Kelley he hasn't been able to do either. |
Re: Antonio Bryant cut
I have not payed attention to that. Of course on my franchise I dumped him and brought in Cornelius Griffin at a basement rate.
He may not play well at the nose in real life but he decent in madden. As far as Antonio Bryant, I think he is worth a look and like others have stated could help us shore up the WR core as a whole. |
