I'm Tired of Losing
LOL, totally forgot to share this with you guys. I'll explain the whole story.
So this guy comes in with his wife a little after the first quarter started. You could tell he had been drinking, pretty fired up and continued to drink as the game went on. Everything was good till the fake punt, then he started harassing every Ravens fan in sight. Now I didn't mind because the Ravens fans he was harassing didn't know jack shit about the Ravens nor football alone, clearly the type of fan who just roots for a winner / should be soon champion. After awhile though he started to get annoying, the more he drank, the dumber he sounded / louder he got. Would just start saying stupid random crap. Yelling where's Portis at on bad rushes, throw the jump ball, get TO, etc. Eventually a Redskins fan got involved and was like, what's a jump ball? Isn't TO signed? etc. Well the guy got pissed and was telling him he wasn't a real Redskins fan, especially after the guy said he thought we'd go 7-9. He then turned around to another Redskins fan behind him and asked him if he thought we'd go 7-9. Guy straight up told him, don't talk to me, I'm here to watch the game and that's it. Really pissed the guy off. Then the guy who said we'd go 7-9 said he didn't care what the Redskins did, even if we went 4-11, clearly to just piss him off. Well the guy bit and was like, "I've been a fan for 46 years," bla bla bla. At this point his wife was looking at me rolling her eyes. I can't remember what said him off, but all of a sudden you hear, "I'm leaving, **** this." Dude was ranting right next to me so I wasn't trying to record him like that and have him hit the camcorder, me or something else, so I waited till he was further away, but basically he kept repeating what he was saying in this video. When he came in he wasn't too bad, but alcohol sure got him going: [yt]F8uXi8CmtOc[/yt] |

Damn that guy is worse than the masked guy on youtube last season who kept bitching every week.

Re: I'm Tired of Losing
It's idiots like this that make it so you don't want to bring your family to an NFL game anymore unless you're in a box or in club level.
|
Re: I'm Tired of Losing
Wow.... dude it is preseason. relax.

Re: I'm Tired of Losing

About to have a family and I would love to take my daughter to a game in a few years, but this is not the behavior I would enjoy her to be around. |

You can say that at most NFL venues though. Ford Field doesn't go for that stuff and I have never seen anyone off their ass drunk, but the Silverdome was an entirely different story. Never went to the Dome without being surrounded by drunks. Pistons games at The Palace are bad too. You get all of these rich yuppie types from Oakland co that just party, get boozed up and yak in the aisles. |

My advice to you Art is just get the premium seating tickets. I get nosebleed seats at Ford Field, and those are nice, and the folks are pretty nice. THe Ford's made damn sure drunks aren't tolerated to give it a family atmosphere, but alas it looks like Fedex is more like the Silverdome, which they just leased. It actually helped when they brought the team back downtown. They really need to ban the booze from being sold in the stadiums, but of course corporate America won't allow that. |
Re: I'm Tired of Losing
It's preseason relax, but he's right I'm tired of losing to.

Ford Field was a good experience both times that I was there. I just hate how you can't keep the top to your bottle. The 2nd time that I went I made sure to carry a bottle top just for that. |
Re: I'm Tired of Losing
Yeah he really looks like Meatloaf when he was in Fight Club. With the hair cut and everything, well minus the "bitch tits".

Re: I'm Tired of Losing
the guy was off his rocker but Sat. night Ihad a mini melt down like this as well. My wife said "my dad asked how matt like the game last week?" and my BIL said "I bet we had got a call if the Skins had won."
That made me so mad I am tired of listening to these dumb a$$ Raven fans they are so annoying. It was preseason folks and to say I would have called them to rub it in if the Skins had won, yeah right. That was the straw that broke the camels back and my wife had to hear it. That whole week before at week they were talking crap as well Iwas not going to hear it in my own house, NO WAY! Of course all it got me was a taste Solid Snake's sex life but dammit I was heard! =) |

I'm not talking little kids and a pregnant wife. They're not even for a husband/wife or father and teenage son. |
Re: I'm Tired of Losing
I can't see the video cause I'm at work but clearly this guy from the way it sounds needed;
BarBuddy.com, the place to go when your buddy won't show. Don't go to a bar and act like an ass, take a buddy who will make sure you have a blast. When your friends wife won't let him go, take a buddy who will surely show. When drinking alone will make you a whino, take a buddy so your not a rhino. BarBuddy.com.... where buddies go when their friends won't show. That there is trade marked, not to be used with out expressed written permission of SBXVII. :) |
Re: I'm Tired of Losing
Should have been able to witness what the experience was like when people were allowed to bring their own spirits to the games.
My Grandaughter asked me once "Pop Pop, do they have to use that kind of language?" She's had no desire to attend another game with me. So you're right irish, depending on the venue, the NFL experience is not for families anymore. |

Totally agree with you on that one. Most stadiums don't enforce the two beers minimum rule, and already intoxicated fans should not be allowed in to games.
NFL games are not for families.
Yes it is. That's why there are rules in place at stadiums, but most places simply don't enforce them. There is nothing wrong with cheering for your team, but some take it too far (like the Phillies fan that vomited on the man and his daughter). I can't excuse extremely rude behavior because one sees an NFL game not family oriented. You go to games to have fun, root for your squad, make friends with fellow fans, not get drunk and scream and shout obscenities in front of young onlookers. Take a look at the Redskins fan code of conduct.
Fan Code of Conduct The NFL is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all fans, both in the stadium and in the parking lot. We want all fans attending our games to enjoy the experience in a responsible fashion. When attending a game you are required to refrain from the following behaviors: * Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal in nature * Intoxication or other signs of alcohol impairment that results in irresponsible behavior * Foul or offensive language or obscene gestures * Interference with the progress of the game (including throwing objects onto the field) * Failing to follow instructions of stadium personnel * Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans Event patrons are responsible for their conduct as well as the conduct of their guests and/or persons occupying their seats. Stadium staff will promptly intervene to support an environment where event patrons, their guests, and other fans can enjoy the event free from the above behavior. Event patrons and guests who violate these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund and potential loss of ticket privileges for future games. We thank you for adhering to our Fan Code of Conduct. Let’s all enjoy the game!
|

Yeah right...(roll eyes) |
Re: I'm Tired of Losing
This guy is a tool. But those of you w/ familes and young children you should know not to take them to an NFL game. And if you do and they hear some bad language then so be it. Today children can turn on You Tube or download music on I tunes that has worse language then an NFL game. No big deal.

Re: I'm Tired of Losing
Honestly at this point point a nice 50 inch HD TV and my couch sounds better then actually going to a game. I go to one game a year and always ask myself why afterwords.

I say "some" because often I witness young people being the culprit in many instances. There are some people who don't seem to be affected by foul-mouthed people, while others are. I'm all for rooting for the team and having fun doing it, but when the language becomes an endless tirade of profanity laced expressions, it ceases to be fun anymore. It's not condusive to the experience of which the games were intended to provide. In most instances we're talking about people who know no other way to express themselves. Some come from environments where that form of expression is commonplace. |

But I'm not sure how worth the 6 hour drive, ticket price, parking hassle, etc would be if I have to constantly worry about a drunk, or a fan that can't keep his language under control. I'm not saying treat this as a game of golf or the opera, because I can get as loud and boisterous as the rest of the fans, but I keep myself in control (no matter how horrible we play, or how many stupid mistakes we make), especially with youth present. |

The combination of a violent game and booze seemed to cause some guys (usually on their only day they get a hall pass) to grow beer muscles and get violent. |

I usually get to one game at Fed-Ex per year and the obnoxious drunk is now more the norm rather than the exception.

Call security and have them removed from the game. Problem solved.

Why not? |
Re: I'm Tired of Losing
I have been to around 14 games at fedEx and maybe only once or twice would I have had an issue with having a child with me. Most Of the time people around use have been pretty good. If in those cases I had children I would have addressed the issue.

Really I only see this problem at preseason games and somehow it's EVERY preseason game. I guess it's because the tickets go for so much cheaper and ANYONE can buy them. I mean face it, $10-$30 upper levels and lower levels, who wouldn't right? I mean I see some during regular season, but for the most part it's just preseason games I see these types of loony toons. |
