Re: NFC East or Least?
I honestly think we will win the East. I just think we have the best QB in the division and the best Coach. Dallas has more talent but Wade sucks when it comes to discipline. Philly isn't very good IMO and especially if Vick is fragile. The Giants offense looks as bad as any teams in the league.
10-6 wins the East |
Re: NFC East or Least?
I like to keep hope a live so I see us winning our division.
|
Re: NFC East or Least?
I wonder if the NFL should implement their own version relegation. I think if a division fails to produce a team above .500 then the automatic playoff bid granted to division winners should be taken away. Obviously this relates more to the NFC West, but I didn't want to start new thread on the subject.
|
Re: NFC East or Least?
Least? So what's that make the NFC West?
|
Re: NFC East or Least?
I can see us taking this division. We beat the Packers this Sunday and this thing is wide open.
If we can get this team rolling into the bye week and make some nice adjustments for the second half of the year, then we can win this division in a shocker. It would be huge for us to win this division and would be a big jump and boost the future of this franchise. Who knows what could happen when the playoffs start. We do have a good HC and QB who know how to win in the playoffs. |

This is the thing about the NFL, it seems to want to breed mediocrity. The potential move to an 18 year season will decimate the talent pool over the long haul. Sure you could expand the draft, but really only players in the first three rounds are truly NFL grade. You might get a diamond in the rough in rounds 4-10(if they expand the draft), but you won't get good football. At this point I really don't see how the other divisions in the NFC are that much better than the NFC West. Detroit and Chicago both stink. The Vikes record wise suck. The South is the best with the Saints and the Hawks, but the Saints are not what they were last season. Our division is wide open, with a bunch of average teams duking it out. I wish I could honestly say we were better than average, but until we get consistent play on both sides of the ball we are average at best. Barring major injuries, I see the winner of the NFC South as the SB rep. |
Re: NFC East or Least?
Least?
..........personally the Skins are leaving a very respectable trail of wounded and injured in their path........ |
Re: NFC East or Least?
I think we can win it if we start competing for a WHOLE game and not half of it. We've been very lucky to be where we're at right now but that type of luck won't keep winning us games. The Eagles may recover, but I doubt it, the Giants are very suspect IMO, the Cowboys are a question mark. I kinda wrote them off after seeing them shoot themselves in foot (like we do in 2nd halfs) for two straight weeks until they owned a very good Texans team in Houston. With that said, if we can play two halfs of football we should overcome a possible newly inspired Dallas team or a possible scrapping Eagles team when Vick gets back.

This is exactly what Mike Greenberg said the other day, though I believe Golic then said that had never happened and what was the likelihood then that there would be + .500 team waitingbto take that spot. I think the East is wide open |
Re: NFC East or Least?
'I think the East is wide open'
If we could manage to develope a little consistency, we could do this thing..... |
Re: NFC East or Least?
I think it's really funny that people think we can win the East with the 31st ranked defense -- thinking that we will win at this point is really premature

NFC Best if you keep up the rhyming game. or NFC Zest, or the NFC Guess, NFC Pest. |
Re: NFC East or Least?
Hey why not? The division is definitely wide open this year and we've already got a leg up on two of the teams.
|
Re: NFC East or Least?
We need to string some wins together...This win one, lose one isn't going to cut it.
I want to see a 4 or 5 game run...Plus it would be huge to get wins over G.B.,Colts,Bears & Lions before the bye week. Go 6-2 with a 2-0 Division record and a 5-1 Conference record. Then sweep philly on that Monday night game following the bye, going 7-2 and 3-0 in the division and 6-1 in the Conference. If we can do this,we would be sitting pretty with only 7 games remaining and already 3 wins in the division. |
Re: NFC East or Least?
NFC Weak is by far the worst conference. I guess everyone is riding NFC South and North carriage but we all know the East is where 48% of all NFC Championships reside.

Re: NFC East or Least?
There really isn't a dominant division in the NFC this season. The Vikes are 1-3, and you have a bunch of 2-2 teams in the other divisions. The south has the Saints and the Hawks, but both can be had. The north has the Pack and Vikes, but they don't looks so hot and are banged up. IF Moss can really help Favre light it up I will give them the NFC title nod, but they have weapons without Moss coming to town so go figure. The entire NFC West sucks, but what is new. The East is up for grabs, with a bunch of talented teams that don't seem to be able to play consistent ball.

Yo ACE my man, we already lost a conference game remember???
@STL. Come on man don't get to ahead that u forgot we lost to the rams lol |

IMO, this statistic is VERY misleading. Despite the yardage or points we may have given up, the talent and coaching of this defense do not lead me to believe we are one of the worst defenses in the league. I would rate our defense in the top 15 at least, and I think as the season continues, the skins will show just how good the defense is. I don't think people are trying to say we are going to win the east, they're just saying that, given the 4 teams' performances during the first quarter of the season, the East is wide open, and that it wouldn't be completely shocking if the skins did come out on top. |
Re: NFC East or Least?
I really think 10-6 wins the East for sure. Dallas is the only team that could challenge us for the division title. Giants, eh. Philly is good, but hey, didn't we just beat them? I guess you would never by some of the comments here. I can gurarantee you Mike Vick won't be shooting down the middle the next time he plays the Skins. Oh wait, we beat Dallas too, but then there was that pesky holding penalty at the end, so scratch that one too.
If we beat the Pack this week all all the pundits will have egg on their faces. |
Re: NFC East or Least?
It would be interesting to see where we rank in the power rankings as well. Considering ESPN has the Pack ranked 3rd? Come on Baltimore, Steelers, Jets, Patriots, and Saints are all better than the Packers, and after Sunday the Redskins will have proved that they are. ;)

Re: NFC East or Least?
We are leading the NFC East 2-0 which is great considering last season 0-6 but even as bad as the Giants are playing they have had our number people. We don't play them for a while but when we do we better kicked them in their Big Blue Ass. So sick of Eli and the Giants D-Line getting after us. I hope we destroy them like they did us at FedEx last year. It's to early to tell who will win the NFC East.
|
Re: NFC East or Least?
The NFC East is very wide open, none of the teams are very good.
|
Re: NFC East or Least?
The late Pete Rozelle had a design on parity as a tool to create fair competition, revenue, and most of all fan interest. Through the years since his passing the league has progressively become more balanced in terms of strength and weaknesses. As a result of that balance, the wide disparity that one time existed between teams is no longer prevalent. The recent lopsided years of the Lions, Rams, Dolphins and Chiefs being the exception.
There are 13 teams with a 2-2 record, far above what we've seen in the past. Absent a rash of injuries, improved play defensively and a little good fortune, I'm in agreement with those who think the Redskins have a chance at winning the east. |

NFC Breast..... somebody had to type it!! :thumb: :oink: |
Re: NFC East or Least?
10 wins could definitely take the division the way things are going right now. I think we're going to see a real log jam at the end with nobody seperating much.
|
Re: NFC East or Least?
I love our situation as this point!
We don't play the Giants until week 13 & 17. We have a chance to sweep Philly before we even play the giants once and the cowboys for the 2nd game. (and the philly game is at home) So if we can take care of business in the NFC North starting this Sunday,I think this team has a great chance of taking the NFC East. Remember, wins against our own division also counts as Conference victories and you only play 12 Conference games total a year. So my theory is this...If we can win 4+Division games(already got +2) and win the majority of our homes games this year...(like Minny,Green Bay,Tampa) this team is in the Playoffs! :) This gives us Jacksonville,Tennessee,Bears,Lions on the road and Colts @ Home Win 2 of these games I have above and that's 9 wins... |

The out of division schedule is pretty tough all around, and the fact that the Cowboys and Eagles won't sweep us like last year knocks their prospects for 10 or more wins down a peg.

The past is the past. We'll see how they fare. Luckily, I see some hurting knees on that D-line of theirs after we're through with them. |

I see us beating the Giants, at the beginning of the season, I said we would have a 5-1 division record and I stand by that. |

I said 4-2, I still see Dallas beating us in Texas but I sure as hell hope not. And I think we split with NY, WE sucked at Giants stadium and I want to see us win up there again before I say we sweep em. |
