Our Injuries

Any word on Williams and Brown?

MTK 10-11-2010 10:01 AM

Re: Our Injuries

Probably not until the MRIs are completed and the results are back.

Re: Our Injuries

I think it may have been encouraging to see TW back in the game in OT. Probably should have just kneeled down on it with :01 left in the 4th.
Any word on Williams and Brown?
The Post said that neither expect a long term injury. I think it was a good sign (obviously) that Williams came back in for a bit even though he went back out.

I may have to eat some of my negative words on Stephon Heyer. He is a legitimate NFL tackle. He won't be going to Miami or Hawaii any time soon and he is definitely going to make a couple of mistakes but he has been a big part of the last two victories.

Now, that being said. Heyer guarding Freeney is frightening....

MTK 10-11-2010 10:11 AM

Re: Our Injuries

I really think it's time to give Heyer some props. He filled in at RT and LT yesterday, AND no penalties. Never thought I would say it but he's become a valuable backup.

Re: Our Injuries

I was ESPECIALLY pleased with his play at RT. I definitely dog him a lot but he really stepped it up yesterday.

Re: Our Injuries

I think Heyer is a servicable back-up capable of having a really good game here and there. Can he do it for an entire season, doubtful.

Re: Our Injuries

Compared to last few seasons Heyer has definitely taken his game to another level. Props.

Shouldn't this be under the POSITIVES. I'm talking about the Heyer comments.

Re: Our Injuries

Yes NYC. Ha! I like Heyer at RT at LT he can be a liability.

I agree. I said it befoer and I'll keep saying it. He is a valuable backup. Yeah he can't be a long term solution but he has worked to become a competent stop gap player and he can swing from left to right. He'll be in the league for a while if he can stay healthy.

Re: Our Injuries

I sure as shit thought Williams was done for the year when he was flopping around on the turf during the OT coin toss. But then to see him in the game was shocking, just glad the initial reports aren't too serious.

The O-Line giving up no penalties yesterday was a positive, but Shanny still needs to figure out a way to get his best 5 out there. Heyer is a serviceable backup at best, but he can't be relied on to be a full time starter, especially at LT. Hopefully Williams is ready to rock and roll come Sunday night as he'll be needed with Freeney and Mathis coming to town.
Yes NYC. Ha! I like Heyer at RT at LT he can be a liability.
Heyer looked pretty strong in the running game at LT against Trent Cole. He's definitely a better player than last year, and a very serviceable backup tackle.

Never!
Heyer sucks cut him now....J/K
Heyer has always been a solid back-up, imo.
And i give him a pass on his performance form last year b/c he was injured for most of the season but played anyway. Its partially an indictment on our lack of depth that no one else was good enough to start over an injured Heyer.

I can't give any love for our line yesterday as they payed pretty shitty. THe only way they started playin OK was when just about all of GB players were hurt.

And they were all hurt too. The injury issue worked both ways.

No doubt, Clay Mathews getting hurt was the best thing that happened to our O-Line. But hay, that's the game...It's not our problem they lost their queen on the chessboard.

artmonkforhallofamein07 10-11-2010 11:42 AM

Re: Our Injuries

Speaking to the injury issue. If we had CP, if just for his pass blocking abilities, he qould have helped neutrilize at least some of the pass rush that the packers employed. In particular Clay Mathews.

So yes the injury front works both ways. If we have AH does that long run in the first happen? We can play the what if game all we want, but the fact is both teams got banged up ( happens alot in a game that was this violent ) and we won.

Where's the Goat? Can we not declare Heyer a BUST??
AND Btw...whats up with DMac? Hammy?? He looks a little nicked and I heard the guys talking on the telecast about a possible pull?

Re: Our Injuries

I can't say the oline is playing strong yet, especially by Shanny's historical standards. Hopefully we've got most of the personnel right and it's a matter of gelling together to make a dominant, all around unit. But right now, the run-blocking is sub-par at best and McNabb is hurried way too often.

scowan 10-11-2010 03:48 PM

Re: Our Injuries

I just kept thinking all day "Jason Campbell would have been sacked there..... Jason Campbell would have fumbled there....." McNabb's mobility and pocket presence is a great asset for this team. But I too wished the Skins would or maybe could have run the ball more in the second half. I think they just gave up on running all together and passed every down in the 2nd half. McNabb won't hold up if the Skins can't run it any better than that.

When i was watching the coin flip for OT and when the panned out and you could see Trent still on the ground, i thought thats it - were loosing the game and the seasons over. Lets hope Trent reinjuring his knee is better then time and Jammal Brown can come back asap.

Fantastic news...hope they can play next week so the Colt's DEs don't send McNabb to the grave.

Re: Our Injuries

Heyer does deserve his props but I'd like to see him be more consistent and not get so many drive killing penalties. He took a step in the right direction yesterday but I don't think I want to see him up against Freeney or Mathis.

EDIT: And that's really good news for Williams and Brown. Hopefully they'll be fine for next week.

speaking of injuries, our defense has been taking people out...

eagles: vick & mccoy

packers: finley, lee, and now rodgers

colts: manning? wayne? clark? addai? watch out.

I'm still worried about depth at OT. Is Robinson or Capers ready to be called up?

I was sitting here trying to figure out where the hell all this praise for Heyer and the rest of the line is coming from. Everybody couldn't have been watching the same game. We had NOTHING going on until C. Matthews got hurt.

Who knocked Finley and Lee out of the game? Landry, Fletch, McIntosh? I didn't see where they actually got hit, did anyone else?

yeah let's see how we do with arguably the best DE tandem in the league of mathis and freeney

Re: Our Injuries

That's what I'm worrying about for the Colts game.. Freeney probably will school Williams w/ his spin n speed if left alone.. I expect Shanahans to work and try to come up w/ game plan that would keep Freeney and Mathis away from McNabb..

Finley just pulled up lame on the Moore fumble return then aggravated it trying to tackle Moore. Not sure about Lee, maybe when Rocky hit him in the endzone

Freeney is a beast, but man, how come people DON'T know that spin is coming!?

If Trent plays, he will hold his own against Freeney. I have faith in the kid.

Blow to my fantasy teams, Finley could be done for the year.

The Packers are looking like us last season...a completely demolished roster from injuries.
