Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
The NBA jerseys have changed alot also, I think adidas does their's.. I'm sure they will be pretty cool
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
In my short life, i have seen addidas, and nike make NFL uniforms. I'm glad they made the switch back to Nike.
In my closet is a vintage #3 Nike Jeff George authentic jersey, along with an addidas #8 Mark Brunell jaguars jersey from his very first year on the team... |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Not sure what kind of dramatic changes can be made, but I look forward to seeing it.
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Not to change the subject, but who do we talk to to get the Skins to wear their Gold pants again Sunday night? They are cool!
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Nike had this opportunity once before an blew it. The NFL essentially kicked them out because the didn't produce merchandise quick enough. I hope the learned their lesson.

Actually I would like the White on White this time |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
If I remember correctly it was Jerry Jones that brought Nike in and had them produce the Cowboy uniforms and sideline apparel with out the NFL's consent. The NFL rebuffed and came to an agreement with Reedbok and that led to a season where their uni's and sideline apparel had no Nike logos on them, they were just shirts with blue and silver stripes on the coaches shirts.

Nike says they will do the NFL jerseys like " they did the NCAA's" What do you think Summo? Good to go flashy or keep it like it is now? |

I hope they are referring to the materials used to make the unis and not the actual design. I know that NFL properties owns the logos and designs of the teams so I would imagine that any drastic redesign would have to be approved by them and the team first. I would also imagine that the league would have tighter reins on Nike and not give them Carte blanche like the NCAA has. Also don't forget that the Broncos redesign was a Nike one, from the logo to the unis. |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
God if they make logo/uni changes like the NCAA it will be wack.
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
The NFL isn't going to allow them to come in and make crazy changes without teams signing off on them. I think Summo is right, the changes will probably be more with the materials used. Perhaps they will propose new designs to teams but ultimately the teams themselves would have to agree.

Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
All I want to know is whether shit is going to cost less. Also, are PFT people Huskie fans? Please believe my Ducks have the best colors and uniform in College Football.
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
everything will probably just cost more.
and look exactly the same, but with a swoosh instead. |

Somebody's getting a nice Christmas bonus

Nike's made some noise with their pro combat line, so I guess it was enough that the NFL took notice. Personally I think a handful of their alterations are ugly but the general style is pretty good. Anyway the point is they're selling. Nike's also behind the Oregon uniforms that has worked for OU has a great part of their recruiting pitch. A lot of you might remember these two alternates |

While I like the "Pro Combat" look in CF, that's exactly where it needs to stay. I like the colors of the teams in the NFL and you know Nike can't change anything up without a team's permission. I would hate to see a redesigned 'Skins jersey just because Nike wanted to do it. I'm lovin the burgundy jersey/gold pants look and we don't need to see anything switched up. Like Summo said I would hope they are just talking about what materials they are using to make it, because I wouldn't want to see any drastic uniform changes once Nike starts making them. |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Was in the market for a new Jersey. Glad I saw this thread...don't feel like dropping nearly $200+ only to see the design and/or materials change next season. Mine as well just wait now.
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Where's this notion coming from that Nike would release jersey's without the teams permission?
"Vut Mr. Prezident ze team sez their current unis are wonderbar!" "Forgetz them! Zey must know ze power of the swoosh!!!!!" Obviously it's in Nike's best interest to have a team wear a particular jersey on gameday to generate sales. I'm pretty sure though that part of the reason the NFL recruited Nike was to start their own line of pro combat jerseys with wacky, out of this world designs. If anything it kind of felt out of place in the more traditional based college game. |

I think the reason they weren't worn on Sunday is because Green Bay wore their pee-pee pants. I know we are wearing Burgundy Jerseys at home this year, and probably had no choice but to wear white pants since GarBage wore their white jerseys and piss pants. The move was most likely made to avoid confusion I'd imagine, but really not quite sure.(anyone know about the specifics of pants on game day?) Anyhow,I expect to see them again soon. HTTR |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
yea I think GB would look better with White pants or even green
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
The NFL is about to get very ugly.
They better not screw up any classic looks like the Packers, Bears, Colts...REDSKINS. |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
NIKE will be a sweet change for the NFL .. nobody wants to see the craziness of the Oregon Ducks unis .. however who didn't like those black VT jerseys they rocked on Monday Nite .. I think Nike making some advancements will be a very cool addition to the jersey collection already growing in my closet .. sucks to be Reebok, that has to the most lucrative jersey deal in all of sports.

Don't be talking shit about my Ducks yo. Ain't no colors besides burgundy and gold are better than Green on Black or Green on White. |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
I actually really liked the Nike Pro Combat uni's that VT rolled out against Boise State but that uniform was designed like that to pay homage to VT's background as a technical science college, hence the number design. That was just unique to VT's situation, we probably wouldn't see anything like that in the NFL.

Glad to see the Ducks changed it up with the uniforms. That strictly black and green crap from a few years ago was a bad joke. I like how they have the 3 different looks now. Not sure about the feathers on the shoulders though. |

It looked OK, but it is crappy compared to the present day uniform. |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Is this where we finally change our colors around a little?

What do you mean "finally"? Knowing Nike, they'll make our jerseys black and give us a flat black helmet. Our pants will be 24K gold-colored and have reptile scales on them. |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Anyway to know in advance if the Skins will be wearing the gold pants again this week?

San Fran and Philly are going to have to battle for that one. |

Nope, but the Colts have been confirmed to be wearing all white on some uniform blogs...so I'm expecting B&G. We didn't wear them against GB because they wore yellow pants. Not sure why we didn't wear them in Philly though. |

Here's someone's concept for a Nike Skins set:

Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
Don't like the helmets
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
I love them. You do know what they're based on, right?
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
A little too busy for my taste. I was never a big fan of those old feather helmets.
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
They're definitely unique. No one else has used anything like them since.
If we change back to the spear helmets (which I love), a whole nation of morons will accuse us of ripping off Florida State. |
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
yeah, if they modernized those feather helmets, I think I could learn to like them. I don't love the old style feather, but I like the concept.
|
Re: Reebok out, Nike in as NFL uniform supplier
i don't really like any of it, especially not the helmets
edit: actually don't mind the pants |
