NFL Regular Season Thread (Week 7)

Lots of news and activity already this week. A note I found interesting from Adam Schefter:

Adam_Schefter Adam Schefter
Browns placed OL Tony Pashos (ankle) and DL Robaire Smith (back) on injured reserve and signed WR Yamon Figurs and OL Paul McQuistan.

I remember when he came in for a look, and I thought he would be a good fit(mostly out of wanting new OL blood). I also realize that injuries happen, and who knows if he had been here. BUT still give props to our FO for making the apparent right calls.

I really think Dallas is delusional right now. I don't understand it, but I am enjoying it. First Wade Phillips talked about being the best 1-4 team out there, as if that in and of itself was a big accomplishment. And now Tony Romo speaks:
Amidst the Rubble, Romo Having Career Year | GiantsFootballBlog.com
“I think that the season is not over yet, so as a competitor and as an athlete, you’re always going forward and trying to get better and improve and trying to turn it around when you get in those situations. All I know how to do is to work hard and keep your head down and go forward. It’s still the first quarter of the season – it just ended. So, for us, it’s about trying to play our best football game this week and trying to get a win. We are really in a hole here and we need to come out and play our best game this week.”
Correct me if I am wrong but we are on week 7, so even with their bye week they have played 5 games, and are nearing the end of the 2nd quarter of football. I don't know if they will turn it around, but I have really enjoyed the show up till now.

Tell you what, Kolb looks pretty good lately! The guy can run too. I don't think Egirls are missing Vick all that much.

Man, the Skins need to get to Cutler early and get him thinking about the rush the way he was with the Giants. I think the Giants got into his head and concussion or not, by half time of that game, he was worthless to the Bears.

Anyone else see the ESPN ad for the Monday Night Football game between the Giants and the Cowboys? It was the most pathetic sports ad I have ever seen. If I didn't know any better I would think the Cowboys were the better of the two teams.

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread (Week 7)

I hate to say it but I want the Giants and Eagles to both loss, IE meaning I want a hated team to actually win.

Just so wwe can keep pace win or lose this Sunday.

I would also love to knock Cutler out of the game and get a chance to play against Todd Collins. He played lights out against the Panthers.

Of course that would mean it would be time to play some run D which I know we can get done.

In a few games this year where we have given up alot of rushing yards, half of them were on one big run. The Pack and Colts both got a big one on us.

You better be careful what you wish for. Watch them win and let that be the catalyst that propels them to a great rest of the year and win up having Dallas win the division.... Remember that goal line stand in '07 for the Giants? What happened after that? They won the super bowl. Not that I am saying I ever want that to happen. But just sayin'....

Re: NFL Regular Season Thread (Week 7)

I agree, we have to play the Giants twice, if we want to be division winners, let's beat them directly. I want Dallas to be beaten with no chance of a "fantastic finish". Better to get one team definitely out, than have both lingering in the race.

ryan fitzpatrick has been amazing for the bills since becoming the starter. hes matured and improved so much since last year and the last few years of being an off and on starter. bills tied with the ravens now with 4 seconds left.

What a crazy week for the NFL. Never would've thought the Browns would lay a 30 burger on the Saints. Bills semi-redeeming themselves, they did blow that huge lead but they did come back to tie it in the last seconds. And the Panthers getting their first win over the 49ers. There's no doubt about it the 9ers deserve their record, if you lose to an 0-5 team nobody should have any doubt you suck when your record is 1-5 as well.

And LOL at the Titans scoring 10 in the last couple minutes of that game and solidifying their win over the Eagles.

Damn! Just noticed the Bucs came back from being down 17-3 and beat the Rams 18-17. Just an absolutely crazy week for the NFL. The Steelers-Phins game was excellent too.

Saints have always had a soft defense. Always.
Peyton Hillis has also been a monster for his entire career. The guy just scores TDs.

Peyton Hillis has been a monster this season but not for his entire career. I wish we had picked up him while he was on the block because he surpassed expectations under Shanny his rookie year and Josh McDaniels deemed him expendable. Hillis didn't do anything last year but only because McDaniels didn't use him.

Last season doesn't count because McDaniels only trusts "his guys" to do anything.

When he was in for Shanny, the dude was ALSO a TD machine and gave the Broncos a running game that season. Mostly in terms of games started, Hillis's TD production has been top notch.

Like I'm trying to say, when given the opportunity, Hillis has shined. I'm not arguing with you about 2009 because the point is moot. He didn't have the opportunity, and it's pretty obvious McDaniels made a mistake. I'm not saying Hillis is a bad player lol.

But, but, but, he was undrafted and a very religious player just like Kurt Warner! There's no way he's not destined for greatness.

Insane. The NFC and AFC west divisions are putting on interesting games. Oakland is blowing Denver out of the water, and the Seahawks and Cardinals are having an ugly, yet entertaining game going on.

I can't watch the game but looking at the box score on ESPN right now it just looks like the Raiders are carving that Denver defense up right now. The Raiders did have one pick six and Denver has lost 2 fumbles but the rest of the Raiders points have come off decent drives. How horrible is Denver by the way? They are going to be 2-5 after this week and the Raiders will be ahead of them at 3-4.
