Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
He is fifth in receiving yards and tied for 4th in receptions.
he's been putting up solid numbers despite being our only threat on offense. |

Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
He has been having a great year so far. Still getting it done. Every year I think it's time to bring in a "true #1" and he keeps putting up legitimate #1 numbers.

I don't think he's put up #1 number since 05. |
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
Santana is having a solid year. He's a pro and he's our best wr. But we still need a true #1.
|
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
Santana is benefitting from his role, which is making the best use of what is a pretty unique skill set.
He still struggles to beat man coverage from the outside more than you would like from a go-to receiver. |
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
I'm glad he's had such a good year. There's more to come.
The man can certainly run routes. This makes my head hurt. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MsUmUSfc-40]YouTube - Santana Moss Catches Laser From Donovan McNabb for 24-Yard TD[/ame] |

Absolutely, there are four guys in the NFL statistically better. He is a slot wr at best. We need a TRUE # 1!!!!!!! You know, like only four teams have in the NFL. |
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
He's having a good year so far, no doubt.
|
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
At his current pace he'll finish with 96-1253-5
Nothing to complain about there |

Underrated

Gotta grade on a curve for who's been throwing him the ball, plus the annual ineptitude we've had for coaching... Give this guy a qb that fits with his skill set and I think you see the corresponding jump in production. He's definitely not prototypical, but I think he's a 1 in terms of effectiveness. |

Yes, that one and the one beautiful pass to Armstrong where he muffed it. I just want to see a complete game in all three phases this year. That's all I'm asking. |
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
And WHY is he having a good year and perhaps a pro bowl season?
Somebody want to answer this one for me? this should answer a thread, that is at the top of our forums here today as well.... if you are going to answer, what I THINK your going to answer...you would be correct! :) |
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
Better OL protection and smarter use of Moss' skill set have contributed greatly to his success this season.
That said though, Moss had a fairly solid season last year as well |

Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
I would love to see Armstrong get more catches. Yes, he dropped one, but the bomb/INT to Galloway was into double coverage. I know McNabb wants to take some shots, but that was a bad decision. I wish that kind of a pass was going to Armstrong. Even if it was, don't throw into double coverage.

That said though, Moss had a fairly solid season last year as well
Without question. Those routes take time to develop, and McNabb is able to progress through his reads. The significantly improved o-line lets us not rely solely on the check down. |

Nothing to complain about there
Yardage should be about right in 2 months but I expect more TDs than 5. We've been going to Armstrong a lot in the end zone and if he continues to not get the job done...Moss should be targeted more. Of course, being a Shanahan team, we may be able to run it in most of the time. |

Throwing into double coverage is dumb but it was 3rd and long and it was a deep pass. The Bears probably would have had better field position if he knocked it down and we had to punt it out of bounds to avoid Hester. |
Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
With a few more accurate passes from McNabb, both Moss and McNabb's numbers would look a little more favorable. This offense reminds me of the 49ers of the 80's. It requires the QB to be as accurate as I'd like to see McNabb be.

Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
Moss is good. That's why they need the stats beside each player. It's been too much of a popularity contest. I said in another thread there will be guys getting in who have been on IR before voting was underway and possibly Roethlisberger...

Re: Quietly having a probowl year: Santana Moss
My impression is Moss has responded very well to Shanny, McNabb and the new regime altogether. I never liked to see Moss give up in years past, but I feel like he's more consistent now.
Btw our line improving and McNabb becoming more consistent will make Moss and our downfield targets look better and better through the season. Hopefully the line heals up (Brown) and really starts to gel after the bye...we could put up some serious numbers. |
