Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
I agree he was overpaid, but maybe we should have just restructured his contract? He has to be more effective that galloway or roydell williams. I dont think they are even considered my Mcnabb!
Dont jump on me for this not being thread worthy lol:food-smil |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Im watching Randle el WIth Pitt and he looks great!
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
We certainly don't miss him on returns. At WR, meh, I'd rather have Armstrong.
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
It's always easier to have the luxury of hind sight. Randle El didn't impress while he was here as a Redskin, and I'm being very generous with with that assessment.
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Yeah I agree Armstrong is better, but Randle El would have been a good 3rd wr. I guess the intended on have DT when they cut Randle El, but our WR's need to be addressed
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
After watching #16 on teams today... uh no. not even a little bit.

He has one catch fo 11 yards. |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
I'm still mad that we didn't sign T.O.. He is STILL ballin' out this year.

lol sometimes I wonder if we're all watching the same game at times |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
how is this a thread?...ARE should be arrested for stealing, he got paid a fat sum and was god awful
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Players are paid the same amount of money when they restructure. They just have more guaranteed money. There is no pay cut.
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
C'mon man!
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
We need to start taking away people's abilities to start threads again. This is one of the dumbest in a month full of dumb threads.
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Not at all, we should have kept Thomas and got rid of Williams.
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
WR really isn't the problem right now.

Maybe that's something we can change/address during the bye week? ;) |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
You're asking this after Brandon Banks did more as a returner in one game than ARE did in 3 years? Really?
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Is it possible to merge all these dumb threads into one, and send the whole thing to thread hell. Its hard reading these mind numbing, redundant, and very often not well thought out posts. Put the beer down

Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
I think you should change the title to anyone mad we let go of Brandon Lloyd ;)
The guy is having an amazing season this year, anyone see that sick TD catch he made today against SF? Too bad he didn't do that here, he had to go!! |

Hell, he probably would have been cut along with the rest of the old fellas in the offseason. |

I was kidding, but he is having a pro-bowl season and looks awesome this year. |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Sigh. This thread is embarressing. Did anybody miss Antwaan Randle El when he failed to get into the end zone by like a couple of inches against the Saints, or while Brandon Banks single handedly gained more kickoff and punt return yardage in one game than Randle El did in 4 years here?
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
[Hand raised] Randle-El improvised well and was clearly better than Galloway and Roydell.

Maybe he'd be better than Galloway and Roydell, but we paid him #1 wideout money to be a #2 wideout, and he failed at even producing like a #3 wideout. If we signed him to a vet. min deal and asked him to be the 4th wideout maybe he'd be worth it, but that's not what we wanted him for. I'm still not sure I'd rather have him than Galloway, even Galloway had that huge catch a couple weeks ago that kept us in the game. |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Did Randal-Fail play here? I must have missed that.

No doubt. The "talent" we've aquired lately has been sketchy at best. Time to do some house cleaning over the bye. |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Did you even look at his stats before starting this thread or did you happen to see him have his best night last night with 3 catches for 33 yards. That give him a total of 11 for the year with about 125 yards. He would have lost those 125 yards running around on punt returns.

Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
ARE Seriously?
I just hope that a Ladel Betts thread is not in our future. |

Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
This is one that really ( as Brian Billick said on Hard Knocks) CHAPS MY ASS!!!!! WHY IN THE HELL IS JOEY GALLOWAY AND ROYDELL WILLIAMS ON THIS TEAM?????????????? At this point ARE is still a BETTER WR than both of these BUMS.

Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Can we close this thread? Please.

Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
WR really isn't the problem right now.
WR is not THE problem now - - but it is still A problem. Questions for all the Devin Thomas acolytes: Where is he lighting up NFL defenses now that the Skins cut him loose? How much is he seeing the field on Sundays? Get back to me when he has a game with 4 catches... The WR corps is NOT the area of the team that needs help the most. but it better be upgraded for 2011 - - if there is a season in 2011 - - or the team will not do nearly as well as fans hope. |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Sure WR is an issue, and one that needs some attention in the offseason, but better protection up front remains the top priority.
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
I would agree that some of these threads appear to be started by 7th graders but if you hate them so much why do you keep bumping them to the top?
|
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
Ease up, this isn't a bad thread at all. I think a more well rounded thread would've been to look at the players we cut & ask the same question. I think some of the guys that were cut - Betts, Rock & ARE could be contributing on this team. After the blocked punt v. St. Louis I was missing Rock. When Portis went out I was missing Betts.
As for ARE, don't get caught up on his contract, can't blame him for taking the money. He did about as much as could be expected of him here. We overpaid for a #3 slot reciever. As a slot reciever in the middle of the field he made plays. Not spectacular, but he knew how to get open in the short to mid routes. I agree w/the original poster, ARE is better than some of the guys on this team. I understand the cuts that were made back in the spring though, the new staff was trying to upgrade, change culture, etc. The only thing that surprised me about ARE being cut was that he seemed like a good team player that would help a new staff. |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
He shouldn't have started a thread about our former top returner the day that Brandon Banks has the best day for a Redskins returner in who knows how long.
And he shouldn't have said he's watching Randle El with Pitt and he looks great! He has 11 catches for 129 yards. Is that really all that much better than Galloway's 9 for 141? We have this need to always put former players up on a pedestal, and I just don't get it. Rock blocks a punt and suddenly we need him back? |

hate to point out the obvious, but you bumped it too :cheeky-sm |
Re: Anyone Mad We let Randle El go?
ARE is one of those guys that probably 75% of folks here were ready to run out of here on a rail for most of his time here.
I'm just not a fan of these hindsight threads where all of a sudden a former Skin is some sort of hero. Like SS said, Rock blocks a punt and suddenly people want him back? And what makes it worse is when ARE's performance in Pittsburgh this year really hasn't been anything special. He's average 3 yards per punt return. 3 freaking yards. Total garbage. As a receiver he has 11 catches for 129 yards, 0 TDs. Again, what am I missing? |

That and the need to call for the head coach/quarterback/reed doughty's head each week whenever we don't blow out the other team... |

Rock blocks a punt and suddenly we need him back?[/QUOTE] I wasn't referring to Rock's blocked punt, though that adds to his spec teams cred. I was talking about K. Williams missing the block in our St. Louis game that led to a blocked punt. Rock had the punter protection job & was a valuable special teams player, just not much of a RB. I'm all for getting the young guys in, but I would still say that Rock is a better special teams player than the guys that took his place. As for ARE, he plays on a team w/some decent wr's. They don't need to rack up big #s, just come in and make some catches. I don't think it's fair to look solely at the stats. He could be contributing here IMO & I was never that critical of him in his time as a Skin. I think people get caught up in expectations & expected him to play big because of his big contract & name recognition, but I think he played up to his ability & was decent out of the slot. |
