Man, when I read what that injury involved I was certain he was out for the season. Gotta say this, it takes dedication at the physical rehab facility to be back at this point

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

His blocking could change everything for us on offense. Hopefully he's 100%.

SolidSnake84 11-19-2010 03:47 PM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

His blocking will still be beast, but his ho-hum running could be our achilles heel.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Awesome, all those who talk smack about Portis have seen the huge drop in RB blocking.

We really need this, especially since we are going to have another change to the OL in Monty.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Great news, I just hope he's playing on passing downs more than running. No word about J. Davis yet?

Well, the game just got a little closer...and S. Moss's fantasy prospects look just a little better.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

I hope he's not pushing it and running the risk of further injuring himself. That was a serious injury he had, it's amazing to me he's deemed 100% and ready to go.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

I hope to see Portis bring his "a" game this Sunday. We'll need his blocking ability in pass protection and we need to see if he still has some burst left. I'm more interested in seeing if K. Williams can have another productive game. He's got the size to be a work horse.

yes clinton come back but can you last the game without injurie?maybe but i dought it

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

We could definitely use his blocking. McNabb must be smiling right now.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Good, I didn't want to say it but Keiland Williams is no CP or even Torain.

aceinthehouse 11-20-2010 11:40 AM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

We would be smart to give him limited carries for a while.

Put the load on Williams and ATV and just have Portis Block on 3rd downs.

Maybe give him a couple on short yardage situations, but that's it.

We will need him down this stretch.

Are you kidding?
The guys scored 3 TD's last week. One from about 40 yards out....

otherwise it would have been 59-7
with young as the only score...

CP would have fell down and taken a knee if he was making that run against the Eagles. He's not the same speedster he was in 2005. Depreciation has set in for Clinton Portis.

Agree 100%. Portis is not the same guy from yesteryear that people remember. He's had piles of injuries that have left him worn out, fragile, and jaded to the game, to the point where he voluntarily slides down or takes a knee so that he doesnt have to take the hit.

He may only be 29, but Portis is way past his prime due to the serious amount of injuries he's had to endure, and the fact that Joe Gibbs basically ran him into the ground.

He is a definate asset to pass protection blocking. That is is only value for this team in 2010. His speed is gone, he is not an every down back anymore, and now, he is injury prone.

I would think if they want to keep him healthy for the remainder of the season, he takes a minimal role, and is used situationally.

That's true...guy did have decent production. Still glad that CP is back though, doesn't hurt to have more than your 3rd string RB active for a game.

Gotta agree with you on this one bro, I like what I seen from him.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Now that the game is over, was anyone surprised that Portis was injured AGAIN?? I mean seriously, CP. Nothing but respect to you dude but it's over. I appreciate the effort in trying to come back, we all do, but i think the writing is on the wall here in DC. Liked what i saw from Williams today..

The kid is made of glass FFS.
He wont be on the roster next year.

It was too soon for him to come back. Seriously, the muscle was torn from the freaking bone.

Hopefully it's nothing major. CP was really playing well today.

For the few plays he was in he did look good. I think that was mostly because he was rested. CP is even more injury prone now than he was before, this has to be has last round-up with the Skins.

Definitely looked good...we missed his field presence and he ran very well.

But news looks bad:

Good news on CP. Hard to question the guy this year, he could easily coast and sit back and collect his guaranteed $$ but he's not.

He got my respect! These injuries have got to be so frustrating for him. You can tell by the way he ran last week, he still loves the game and can still bring it.

There is no doubt, we are a better team when he is on the field. It would be nice to see him healthy.

Jontrem 11-23-2010 11:35 AM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

I'll take CP on any of my teams any day. He went down in the Rams game because his arm was injured and he knew 5 players were closing in and he did not want to fumble, that's called field awareness. Also IMO best pass blocking RB ever!

aceinthehouse 11-23-2010 11:36 AM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

It truly is sad, because I don't see him on the roster next season.

Which means he was soooo close to Riggins Redskins rushing record and just falls a little short.

Isnt it funny the "Shanny effect" has had on CP...he not saying anything stupid, giving 110%, participated in preseason, mentor to the younger players....its really been a 180.

Nothing funny about it. He's in his last year here. He needs to do something to give the redskins a reason to resign him. I dont think that its' not 100% genuine, but Portis, for all his faults, is no dummy, and he knows his normal behavior won't fly in a contract year.

Good point. Portis got a hard look at two washed up RBs in the offseason that showed him how irrelevant you can become when you don't play at the same level as before (Parker) and when your mouth gets you in trouble (LJ).

MTK 11-23-2010 12:50 PM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Sure money could have something to do with it, but I also think he's seeing his career winding down and he's appreciating it a little more than he might have a few years ago.

Monkeydad 11-23-2010 02:29 PM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Gerat news with the MRI results, but I'd want him to sit out this week so we have him for the 3 remaining division games.

I think he'll be like 85%, but most people are this time of the year.

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Only way I want to see Portis on the field this week is if he's in for screens / pass blocking, that's it.

Longtimefan 11-23-2010 02:54 PM

Re: Portis is back, will play Sunday

Takes a lot of courage to do what Portis is doing. A lot of players would just call it quits with the type injury he's trying to recover from.

lol...that train is never late

I think he would love to retire as a Skin. I really think he is sincere this year and if he plays this week, wow, what an example he sets for others. That injury must be extremely painful.

im not dissing on Portis this time, but you know how players are in a contract year....its like they give above and beyond to get a sweet deal...
