Ex-Skins Receiver To Return....

......okay not really! hahaaha!!!

But my question is, if you could pick ONE ex-Redskins receiver to come back and play for the Redskins, who would you choose?

Its a tough question, but I think I would go with Gary Clark. He was always our "homerun" guy. Art Monk would be a very close second.

htownskinfan 12-04-2004 01:57 PM

Charley Taylor!!

Gmanc711 12-04-2004 02:04 PM

Art Monk is my favorite Redskins of all time. BUT! While he is no where near, and dont take this the wrong way, he is no where near the skill level of Art Monk, D.McCants is the TYPE of reciver that Monk was, so I have to go elsewhere. We need a big home run threat, so Gary Clark would be ideal. I was a huge Ricky Sanders fan when I first started to like the skins too. I used to have the coolest poster when I was a kid of " the Posse " it had Clark, Monk and Sanders all dressed up in western gear over their jerseys. I would seriously give my left pinkie toe to get that thing back, I have no idea where it went.

Really a tough call between Michael Westbrook or Albert Connell. LOL

Daseal 12-04-2004 02:16 PM

Desmond Howard.

jbcjr14 12-04-2004 02:39 PM

I would pick Monk, but a close second would be Clark. Now TE would now doubt be Didier.

MTK 12-04-2004 04:14 PM

I'd take Monk and junk Gardner

BrudLee 12-04-2004 05:17 PM

Chris Doering.

What?

PSUskinsfan11 12-04-2004 05:19 PM

Gari Scott from preseason

MTK 12-04-2004 05:25 PM

Derrius Thompson

sportscurmudgeon 12-04-2004 05:26 PM

Maybe I'm the only one here old enough to have seen him in his prime, but Bobby Mitchell was just an outstanding WR. Big,fast. great hands, and ran with the ball after he caught it, Like Charley Taylor, he started his NFL career - and played his collegiate career - as a running back..

MTK 12-04-2004 05:37 PM

SC, how would you rate Mitchell and Taylor vs. guys like Monk and Clark?

sportscurmudgeon 12-04-2004 05:44 PM

Matty:

I think Mitchell was the best of the four. Taylor and Monk and Clark are all excellent WRs and it is hard for me to separate them.

If you force me to do that, I'd take Monk then Taylor and then Clark. But remember, the differences between these three is VERY small.

IMHO...

jdlea 12-04-2004 05:50 PM

2 words: Ricky Sanders!

SmootSmack 12-04-2004 06:47 PM

Looking back on it one guy I sort of wish we kept and who is still playing in the NFL today is Keenan McCardell

cocoajoey 12-04-2004 08:33 PM

Gary Clark he's a alsome player he chould go over the middel and catch the ball and get hit and do it again!

joecrisp 12-04-2004 08:41 PM

It would be a close call for me between Monk and Henry Ellard.
Monk is one of my favorite all-time players, and he could always be counted on to make the clutch catch on 3rd down and keep the chains moving-- something that has been sorely lacking in the Redskins offense.

Ellard is another one of my faves, and he's also another receiver who spent his career moving the chains. Working with the fabulous trio of John Friesz, Heath Shuler and Gus Frerotte, he was able to post three consecutive 50+ reception, 1000+ yard seasons for the Redskins from '94 through '96...

Plus, I'd love to see another one of those post-touchdown backflips he was famous for.

I just wish one of these guys would come back and show the current bunch of stonehanded receivers how to catch.

VTSkins897 12-04-2004 08:58 PM

ellard were a pimp!!!!

jamf 12-04-2004 09:02 PM

alvin harper.

flyfischer 12-04-2004 10:10 PM

Monk wouldn't just bring good hands, he'd bring back what it means to be a redskin...and no one forget about downtown Charlie Brown...he was pretty good

SmootSmack 12-05-2004 12:37 AM

Andre Reed

MTK 12-05-2004 10:19 AM

Ellard ran the tightest routes I've ever seen. Even though we had him on the downside of his career he was still a lot of fun to watch.

skinsguy 12-05-2004 11:42 AM
Andre Reed
He wasn't an Ex-Redskin???

skinsguy 12-05-2004 11:49 AM

I must say I was surprised to hear Henry Ellard's name, but you guys are right, even on the downside of his career, Ellard was a good acquisition for us. Just like Gibbs wanting to have a "veteran" QB to help with the younger QBs on the team, I think it's just as important to have a veteran receiver out there to act as a mentor for the younger receivers or the receivers that are going through slumps.

SmootSmack 12-05-2004 12:13 PM
He wasn't an Ex-Redskin???
Andre Reed finished his career with the Skins in 2000. Didn't do anything impressive. But he did have a solid career and he is technically an ex-Redskin

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?statsId=37

But, I wouldn't take him above Monk, Ellard, Taylor, among others.

skinsguy 12-05-2004 12:22 PM

Wow I guess he did, I honestly must have blocked him out! I remembered Friar playing for us for a couple seasons I think, and Alvin Harper (which didn't impress me at all), and of course Henry Ellard. I guess he had gotten lost in with all the big time names we aqcuired like Dion Sanders, Bruce Smith, and Jeff George.

RedskinRat 12-05-2004 01:29 PM

Has to be Gary Clark for me. He was superb for a short ass.
