Brad Childress Fired
... not sure if this is a good or bad thing for us this week.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
That team is a complete mess anyway. Not sure it will make a difference either way.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Man, this sucks....i hope they dont play hard for the new coach or for thier jobs.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
shat ... i hope this doesnt turn into a jim haslett rams type game now.
we have no film or idea what they are going to do now. im assuming they will keep things basic and vanilla menaing lots of screens and runs for AP which sucks for us b/c i think our best chance to win, and win big, was with them letting favre throw the ball. |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Just posted in the week 11 thread. wow. I was soo hoping we would get him this week. Now the Vikes might be an unknown. Other then they will use the same plays. lol.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
WOW.
I knew it was coming...but not in-season. They're a mess. We'll destroy them. I hope. The players were really against him...they could be jacked up to have him gone now. Harvin is nicked up again and unproductive...but Sidney Rice came back this week and contributed a little. I don't think their passing game is much of a threat. If we can stop AP from scoring and strip the ball a time or two, we should be able to contain them. We let CJ run for 130 (was going to happen anyways) but we kept him from scoring. Same plan this week. |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
DAMN,... well now back to watching the Rock vs Stone Cold at Wrestlemania 17.
Tough stuff Brad, he'll catch on somewhere next year. |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Someone pointed out elsewhere that if they were smart they would keep Childress and his losing ways and get top billing for the 1st round pick to get a decent QB which would probably lure in a good coach also knowing he can pick a QB of his choice.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Man, this sucks! I was just thinking about this as I looked at our schedule, then I get on the Warpath & this is the fist thing I saw. this doesn't bode well for us, like Dallas they are a talented team that has its issues. Hopefully the interim coach will have a terry robiske like start this weekend.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Yeah after being forced to watch the Vikes and Packs yesterday ( I live in Rochester aka nfl purgatory) I was thinking well at least we get to play a Vikings team that clearly has given up on their head coach.....oh well we gotta strap on the Helmets and hit peterson in the backfield, once he gets past that line of scrimmage its usually at least 7 yards.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
It was just a matter of time and yesterday sealed his fate.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Leslie Frazier is the new HC for the Vikes.
Never heard of her. |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Chilli just got extended last year so he's getting paid next year and maybe the year after. Sucks to get fired in the NFL...kinda.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
No more Chili con carne. We'll be in for a battle next week, as Frazier will have his team fired up.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
we can't get a break! Leslie Frazer will motivate this team and beat us!
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Minnesota will probably "wake up" like Dallas. Now, when a talented team "wakes up" they usually starting crushing their opponents.

The big question is...will Favre play or not? I do agree that this SUCKS for us. I know we're banged up, but I hope Shanahan gets this team ready. I'm getting tired of this team needed to get some extra boost to perform well (i.e. McNabb getting back to Philly or getting blown up by the Eagles). Although I think this time we may have the motivation but not enough healthy bodies. |

The Williams wall may not be a great wall anymore, but should Rabach be starting again, I think we'll be stuffed. And Ray Edwards is pretty good too. Also, I think Tarvaris can patch together a better performance than Young did. He has had stretches of playing really well. As for Favre, we should blitz the old man to death. He can't get away. |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Frazier is their guy but I wish we played them with chilly, now I could see the Viks actually play hard against us
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
I hope their asst. Head coach don't wake up the talent like Garrett did in Dallas or we could be in for a long day.

Lets relax the vikings are a 3 win team and just got smacked around by a team we beat. Do they have a lot of talent? Sure they do but they arent just going to magically transform into an unbeatable juggernaut because Childress is gone |

Um, did you see the Giants/Dallas game after Wade Phillips got fired? |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Yes I saw it.....searched for some kind of come back or point to make and came up rather empty! But its Monday after a win and I'm trying to be positive!

Some teams have finished the season hot after starting slow...Marty's Skins come to mind. And Childress seems like a guy who is easy to hate. Now that he's gone, the stress of just seeing him is gone, and every Vike player has a somewhat clearer mind. |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
I just hope they don't decide to make more changes & start T. Jackson. I think d. hall et al will be ready to snag some Farve passes. Farve can keep us in this game!

Honestly though, I'm a bit concern about how banged up our team is right now. I do hope Shanahan watched that Giants/Dallas game and prepares for a motivated Vikes team. |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
they could still make the playoffs at 9-7, and if the players buy into that, they could be dangerous.
Big question is if Frazier keeps Favre or not. I would lean towards Jackson getting the start, with a new HC. |

Sucks, they are on the hook for any contract they signed. Most people in the real world may get some severance pay at best when they get fired. |

To ease some fears here, here's a sample of interim coaches over the past few years and the result of their debut. Perry Fewell (took over 3-6 Buffalo): Lost to Jacksonville Mike Singletary (took over 2-5 San Fran): Lost to Seattle Tom Cable (took over 1-3 Oakland): Lost to New Orleans Emitt Thomas (took over 3-10 Atlanta): Lost to Tampa Dick Jauron (took over 4-7 Detroit): Lost to Minnesota |

[quote=Buster;761768]WOW.

Re: Brad Childress Fired
I think we have a good chance of winning this game. We need to stop Peterson before he gets going and have a good game protecting McNabb. If we can do that then we should be able to force a few TO's and win the game.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
So I wonder what will happen with Favre now? After the game he made mention he will be re-evaluating his situation. So will he say adio's? Which means we will face Tarvaris Jackson. Hopefully if Bret says good bye Jackson throws a lot of interceptions. But I could see the new HC trying to get a spark and using him similar to how the Eagles used Vick. Make him use his legs.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
It's hard to believe that team is the mess they've become. Considering many thought Chilly was long overdue, his firing really comes as no surprise. Don't know what that means for their engagement at Fed Ex on Sunday, just hope it dosen't serve as motivation.
|
Re: Brad Childress Fired
It seems where Favre goes so do the Vikings. I hope he continues to suck.

Well with Chili gone now, I'm guessing Favre suddenly feels 100% healthy now |
Re: Brad Childress Fired
Just like we did last playoff run. Shutdown AP and we are good.

Hmmm, This will be interesting to see play out. Your guess is probably 100% correct. |

I agree here. Minnesota is not a good team this year. Who cares if they fired their coach. They're still playing like shit. But they could easily come into Fed Ex and beat us cause we're not a good team either. |

The vikes are more comparable to dallas' firing of Wade, they have the talent just not the chemistry, leadership, etc. this year. Plus, Rice now has a game under his belt. |
